ParticipantI just keep thinking about the movie Groundhogs Day, where he wakes up to relive each day over and over again. I know this wasn’t possible during those years, otherwise Henry wouldn’t have learned anything in school, because he would have had the same lesson every day. I wonder though if he continued to grow up while all the other kids never changed grades? That would be a dead give away that something wasn’t normal. I’m not sure how the writers thought that through, or if they did.
Anyway, that 28 year fog had to b something that kept everyone where they were in life and never moving forward, yet they had miner’s day every year, or were those memories just implanted? But then, how would that work for Henry? I can’t reconcile those two ideas in my head. Any one else?

Regarding whether Emma’s name was the trigger for Gold’s memories–Kitsis basically confirmed this (Horowitz also mentioned that the issue would be explored this season).
Potentially spoilery source: http://youtu.be/c1OXRubP8RoHe did infer that possibility. Although, then that begs the question of how Mr. Gold knew to bring Henry to SB, which is inferrred by Regina at the end of episode 2 — The Thing You Love Most. She accuses Gold of engineering things so Emma would come to SB.

Getting back to the Blue Fairy/Mother Superior, after re-watching this episode I realized that you can kind of hear bits of dialogue between her and August when they’re walking out of the convent. I thought I heard August say something about his body, and Mother Superior telling him not to do anything rash, to come to her before he thinks of doing anything, and that things will work out. This only increases my suspicion that she knows.
As to which side she’s on: I tend to agree with the view that her use of power is primarily about maintaining order, at least according to her idea of the way things should be. She seems concerned about keeping everyone and everything in their proper place–dwarves should stay in the mines and should not mingle with fairies (just make our fairy dust, be happy and don’t ask questions–how convenient for them), fairy godmothers help certain people but not others…
I think this is well said. I like the idea that it is about keeping order for her, especially since she seem to be part of an “order” in SB, LOL.
As to why she didn’t help with the other things and do more, there is probably a balance as to how much she chooses to interfere in the general affairs and choices of the people in FTL.
Cinderella did have a fairy, just not the BF, that came to help her. That fairy was ambushed by Rumpel for her wand.
It seems the faeries tend to work more on an individual basis — Cinderella, Jiminy, Bae, Pinnochio. They also seem to work, so far, on behalf of the younger denizens of FTL.

So then the question is why can’t others remember? Blue Fairy, Rumple and Ragina all remember. August knows because he is from FTL but we don’t know who he is yet. Jefferson knew and disappeared into the hat. That makes 5 people that know the truth. To me that is a fair number. 6 if Nova remembers.
Are those characters cursed to not tell the truth because if that is the case the Blue Fairy is going against what fairies do. Rumple said “You’re lying!” and she said ” We don’t do that.”
I’m thinking that all of these characters possess magic. So perhaps there was something in their magic that kept them from having amnesia when the curse was enacted, or allows their memory to be triggered with the right catalyst, sooner.

ParticipantThe thought of Regina and David just makes me gag, but only because I know who he should be with. Regina is getting desperate. Wonder when she will figure out it’s Emma she needs to get rid of?

Alright! Everyone is saying that August added another story or two to the book, changed the book, took something out of the book but no one but myself has said or agreed with me that maybe he restored those pages that were ripped out and burned. I believe that another part of magic in SB is the book and August needs magic to cure himself. So does anyone agree that he may have restored those ripped and burn pages of the book?????
I thought about that, and wondered if he didn’t replace them. So, yes, it is indeed possible. I keep waiting for Henry to say something. However, the writers confirmed he added to the book… for sure the Golden Bird, so that is what every knows for sure. But he could have added back the ripped out pages as well.

YES I agree…in the pilot end scene when Mr.Gold hears Emma’s name, something clicks, i think this was his trigger and he has started to remember his FTL life since…Mr.Gold is a key player and always seems to be one step ahead of everyone but i think he does not know every detail…after all he is in our world now! a land without magic so his power is limited!
I’m going to stick my neck out here and say I disagree. I think he has always known and waited patiently for Emma to arrive. I think he was very satisfied when she confirmed her name was Emma to him. He knew to expect her at some point and had been waiting. Otherwise, how would he have known to acquire Henry for Regina. I have to believe he knows and somehow established contacts outside SB, perhaps hiring someone via a phone call to find Emma. Somehow, someway, somebody watched Emma for him to “nab” her child and bring him to SB hoping it would eventually lure her there. If he didn’t remember, then how was that idea set into motion?
I agree though about his power being limited in this world – a land without magic:)

ParticipantI would like to keep the magic quill used to imprison Rumpel.

ParticipantSW and cohorts have to break PC out of prison at some point. Where do you think this happens? This episode?
Maybe we find out the origin of the apple tree in this episode, and find it is not just an average tree.

ParticipantIt was an obvious choice of words by the BF to say I am on the “right” side and not the “good” side.
If she is the original power and all power comes from her, then the deviation to bad power would also be included. I would say her power being “good” or “bad” is probably based on perspective. She may make a “right” choice that doesn’t necessarily look like a “good” choice to others — perhaps Nova and Dreamy would fall under this. What I am wondering is if she understands the desired end result for Rumpel, has she developed a bigger and broader plan beyond his? I’m sure she can be just as patient as Rumpel has been, and if Rumpel spent those centuries developing the curse, she knew about it. I mean he told her at the end of “The Return”, “I will find him!” So she knows what Rumpel’s agenda is.

Participanthjbau readdressed the issue of Emma’s magic and the “bottle of love” in 1×16 and 1×17
Good thoughts on the keys. There does seem to be some sort of magic in stasis so to speak carried over from FTL, because you know, the sheriff was walking around without a heart. So perhaps the magic is in stasis and not able to be wielded by anyone. I mean even Mr. Gold wasn’t sure what affect Emma was going to have, and so he said that is why he buried the knife — because he saw things changing and didn’t want to risk Regina finding it. -
