With any luck, Emma will save herself with her own true love magic the way she did in 3×22 after thinking about Neal and his definition of home. But, with these writers, it could go in any direction. It really could.

Does Emma still possess light magic though? Based on her reaction to her own magic in Episode 2, I’m inclined to believe that the Dark One Curse wiped out all of her light magic, and now all she possesses is dark magic….which makes me so confused because she’s still the incarnation of True Love.

I think Emma still has her innate light magic. Remember, true love can break any curse and Emma is true love personified. Come to think of it, Emma will probably just use her own white magic to break her own dark-one curse since I think her own true-love magic is greater than the dark-one magic.

So Emma still has her light magic….then why doesn’t she want to use any of her magic if she knows how to pull her light magic from her dark magic? Is it because it still triggers the “I want all magic power” that every Dark One seems to face at one point of their life? Perhaps being power hungry is a side effect of being the Dark One?

Yeah…but Emma still has light power, because she’s already a sorceress. So why is she still power hungry? She doesn’t need dark magic to do powerful (good) deeds, as we’ve seen in S2-S4. Even if she were to give up her dark one magic, she still would be able to do light magic (i.e. she wouldn’t be powerless like Rumple presumably would be). Why would she want to pay the price of dark magic when light magic doesn’t require said price? *heads desk*

I really think that the only way to save Emma is for her to choose to be saved by giving up the power herself, probably in some sort of sacrifice. What the impetus for that is remains to be seen, but it’s likely a heady combo of Henry, Snow/Charming, Regina, and Hook being threatened by some thing so Big and Bad that it triggers the humanity in Emma.

Something really didn’t add up in 5×2. Last week Emma was desperate to be rid of the dark power after she nearly killed Merida, but this week she wanted to keep it after she healed Robin? But Emma was already able to use her light magic to heal people (Emma healed her mother in 4×21 when Lily accidentally hurt Snow). So why on earth would Emma want to keep the dark power to heal people when she already had the ability to heal with light magic??? That makes no sense whatsoever. It’s not like Rumple, who was powerless to begin with before he killed Zoso; prior to becoming the dark one, Emma, as true love incarnate, was already arguably on her way to becoming the most powerful white magician ever if she’d continued her magical training with Regina. So, Emma shouldn’t have had the same motivation to keep the dark magic as did Rumple, since she already has all the white magic.

I’d really *really* like to believe it’s significant but I’ve stopped believing that this show is doing anything significant awhile back.

Fair enough, especially with these writers where anything seems to go. But, I just thought of another time when TLK didn’t work…in New York City Serenade. All I’m saying is that the idea of the failed-TLK is becoming a pattern for CS.

Does anyone else think it may be significant that TLK hasn’t worked twice (well three) times now for the pirate and Emma? The first time, Hook’s cursed lips took Emma’s true love power. The second time Emma tried kissing Hook in Camelot. The third time Hook tried kissing dark one Emma in SB and it didn’t work. Could it be because, despite seeming to be in love with Hook, it isn’t real love?

At least she has Henry. Too bad Neal died.

True Love’s Kiss did not work between Emma and Hook, presently at least. We know that it did start to work once for Belle and Rumple meaning that it could change if Emma is “open” to it (maybe?)

I think Henry is the key to saving Emma, more than any romance.

But outside of True Love’s Kiss, what could bring back Emma from the Darkness? Is there any way to save Emma if she doesn’t want to be saved?

Regina has to become the new savior before Emma can be saved. I’m not sure how, but I’m pretty Merlin’s prophesy will reveal the savior and the dark one joining forces to save Henry, and together, their mutual maternal love for their son will break the dark one curse. Or maybe Emma’s innate true love magic will let her free herself.

Alternative theory: Charon and his ferry showed up for this one episode and will not be mentioned again. OUaT loves that.

I agree. Most likely we’ll never see the Charon again just like the chernabog was never seen again after 4×12, not even at the end of S4.

Hurray for MRJ! At the same time, however, those pics just all sream Baelfire to me, and the last one just screams SWANFIRE. Also, I’m super happy for Emilie (who’s having a baby)! 🙂 Heres hoping a possible Rumbelle baby will fall in love with the Snowing baby one day….It’s almost like the child of the (former) dark one was meant to fall in love with the child of true love or something….

But there’s no reason for the SB gang to offer up the information that Emma is the Dark One. When asked “which of you is the Savior” Emma could just step forward and go “yup, that’s me.” without any sort of new-DO elaboration. It’s going to become fairly obvious that Regina is not the Savior when Merlin is still inside that tree. The SB gang just created a whole new problem for themselves because now they are going to be caught in a lie and forced to reveal that Emma is the Dark One and while Arthur might have accepted Emma was not EVILZ because she was also the Savior AND freed Merlin, now it’s going to look like Emma is super duper evil and no one can be trusted.

I think we’re mostly in agreement. Of course, that choice to conceal the truth of Emma being both the savior and the dark one will totally backfire in the faces of the SB gang. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is part of went wrong in Camelot. Arthur may’ve learned the truth and gone after Emma, Emma’s family tried to do something to keep Emma safe, Henry got caught in the crossfire, and Emma overreacted thereby perhaps killing someone and going full-on dark one.

It’s going to become fairly obvious that Regina is not the Savior when Merlin is still inside that tree.

I don’t know if it’s that simple. Clearly, Merlin gets out of that tree while the SB gang is in Camelot (we saw BTS photos of Emma and Merlin together). So either Emma lets him out or Regina does. I think the way Arthur learns that Emma is the dark one is by finding the dark one dagger inscribed with the name Emma Swan.
