But…. why? What was wrong with them telling them Emm was both savior and dark one.

The reason the SB grang doesn’t tell Arthur Emma is the dark one is based on how Arthur responds.

David: Our home is being threatened by the dark one.
Arthur: The dark one? Yes, we’re well aware of that demon.

Had Arthur’s choice of word to describe the dark one been less intense, the group might’ve felt safe telling him Emma’s story. However, because Arthur and his knights seem to have a strong aversion to the dark one, keeping Emma’s secret under wraps appears to them to be the safer course of action. Of course, that’ll likely backfire.

He JUST said Merlin was never wrong, so Emma will free the guy.

Arthur did say that Merlin was never wrong, but Merlin’s prophesy never named Emma as the one to free Merlin; it said that the savior would save Merlin. And right now Regina just put herself forward as the new savior.

What’s with the giant tree? Is the tree Merlin? (legend sometimes say he was trapped in one…)

Merlin is trapped in the tree according to Arthur in the latest sneak speak. Only the savior can free him. Regina declares herself the savior to avoid divulging that Emma is now the dark one.

I want to know why the residents of SB appear to be back in present-day SB in the same clothes as they appear in Camelot. Notice how there are cars in the background of some of them.

So what’s coming to SB that only a savior can stop??

    Morgana? The original dark one?

    Spot on, as usual!

I agree with the assessment that Emma Swan is daring Regina to become the new savior. As the new dark one, Emma needs Regina to take up the hero mantel in order to save Emma from the dark one curse. It’s all about bringing balance to the force of magic: light magic to counteract dark magic. We’ve seen Regina use light magic and had heroine blood in the AU. As cheesy as it sounds, it’s time for Regina to embrace the light fully, no holding back.

RufeePeach is rewriting S5 with Neal instead of the pirate. Because that’s how it was supposed to go. She’s amazing. LINK

    Yep.

    More parallels…

Sounds like Hook will attempt TLK

And fail…seeing how Emma is still the dark one.

That was my first thought as well. Which is pretty ballsy of the showrunners to crush dreams so fast in the season.

    I don’t think he’s the key to saving Emma….

But why would Emma stop him? Emma doesn’t want the Darkness. Rumple did. He didn’t have Bae back yet so getting his TLK with Belle came at the wrong time, hence his stopping it. After that, in SB, we don’t know why it didn’t work. We were always told it was because magic works differently in SB but…Snowing. So we’re back to the original question of why would she stop it.

Maybe because he isn’t her true love, and Henry is?

I find it ironic that the story is currently centered on “The Dark Swan” and we’re all singing our swan songs. It’s well-suited, especially since the ratings are declining (never thought I’d see the day we go under 6 million), but ironic and sad.

I may be in the minority, but I don’t find it that sad. I’ve long thought that OUAT should’ve been max 3 seasons long. It was evident even by S2 that the showrunners weren’t clear which direction to take the show in after the first dark curse was broken. They just wound up re-hashing the dark curse and memory-forgetting spells.
