    And THIS!

“[Emma] didn’t turn evil after all. So I get to find my happiness.”

Something about this line bothered me when I first watched the episode. Was it the way Hook said it to Rumple, making me believe he’s still the same person (even though I know he is)? Was it because he actually took energy to gloat to Rumple? Was it because I just hate his arrogance in general? I didn’t know… but now I do.

I thought this line was gonna go somewhere along the lines of, “she didn’t turn evil after all. You failed. You can’t change her.” Something Regina or another smart person who cares about Emma would say, but nope! He made this entire conversation about his damn self. I understand that he and Rumple are foes but seriously? Hook doesn’t deserve the title of “changed” because he hasn’t. Everything he does is still for himself. It’s not even for Emma either, it’s for HIM. And this line right here shows it. He wasn’t scared of Emma turning evil because that’ll put her down a dark path and initially ruin her life, he was afraid of her turning evil because HE would lose his so called “happy ending”.

This is what I’ve been trying to say for the longest time, HOOK HAS NOT CHANGED AT ALL. He is still a selfish pirate who is only trying to put up a front for Emma because he believes she is his happy ending. And before you say, “well yeah you do things for people you love” yes, FOR THEM. Not for your own gain. Which is exactly what Hook is doing.

So in the AU, Hook still looks exactly the same, and still looks like a swashbuckler. He’s wearing black, he has on guy-liner, and even still has a hook, rather than a hand. It looks like nothing about him has changed. I wonder if that is because Hook has always straddled the line between hero and anti-hero. If he’s still a pirate, and is basically unaltered at least as far as appearance goes, that would suggest his AU persona is a reflection of his current persona (neither fully good nor fully bad). This AU basically is Rumple’s story (intermixed with Isaac’s interferences). So it’ll be interesting to find out what Hook’s characterization is like. I always thought Rumple saw Hook’s true colors more than the other characters. Rumple said, “you’re not a puppy dog chasing after the object of his affection, but a ruthless pirate who’ll stop at nothing to get what he wants.” So I wonder if that is how Rumple is presenting Hook’s AU persona. Thoughts?

Maybe Isaac writes himself as the new Dark One. He’s been dependent on others to protect him, but as the new Dark One, he could protect himself.

That sounds interesting. But then Isaac wouldn’t get his happy ending, since villains don’t get happy endings, even in the AU. Right? Or maybe I’m wrong.

I’m inclined to think it’s Isaac’s decision. If Rumple is calling all the shots about who the villains and heroes are, then the “cast” makes only limited sense. Rumple doesn’t technically have much of a bone to pick with the Charmings. By contrast, Zelena is a different matter altogether, so why on Earth would she have an apparent happy ending with Robin? Speaking of which, what is Robin — a villain or a good guy?

From the finale photos, Robin Hood is dressed as a prince (as opposed to a prince a thieves), and is about to marry Zelena. I wonder if Robin Hood is a rogue prince, like Prince James was. Also, based on the photos, I’m guessing Robin isn’t too happy about marrying Zelena. Maybe it’s an arranged marriage.

Who is the Dark One in this AU? The promo doesn’t show the Dark One. Any theories?

    Emma?

Snow White? More like Snow Black! And it looks like Snow does have magical potential (at least in the AU). Maybe the only reason Snow White has never demonstrated magical ability in the main story is because she never tapped into that deep emotion of hatred before.

Also, who exactly is supposed to be Emma’s father in the AU? James or David? Is Emma even still Emma (David’s daughter), or is it Emma’s cousin (daughter of James)? Also, how is it that Snow, David and Emma are all the same age still since time wouldn’t have stood still (i.e. there never was a dark curse)?

Emma vs Rumple interesting. I’m think Emma has just found out that Rumple turned the tides on her and the heroes.

It kind of looks like Rumple still has magic…

Rumple is starting to look a little villainous here. Look at that scowl.

It just occurred to me that seeing this HEA in the AU could be more evidence that Rumple will die once everything is set right again. If Rumbelle won’t be living HEA as the show continues, showing them happy and together in the AU is the writers throwing the shippers a consolation prize. They’ve just had Regina realise she shouldn’t use Isaac to change her story, but Rumple is persisting, and it’d be quite the cruel lesson for him to learn if he gets a temporary taste of what could have been, before having to pay the ultimate price for the magic he used to try and get that HEA.

You could be right. Rumple’s line about being a villain and not getting a happy ending would be all the more true now that he’s crossed the line.

It’s such a shame. I actually wish Rumple could’ve remained dead after he sacrificed himself to save his family. At least that ending was noble and truly heroic. If Rumple were to die a mortal death now, then his death would seem selfish and villainous. He just turned the tables against the heroes to give himself a temporary “happy” ending. And villains don’t get happy endings. I think Henry is going to become the author and restore things, fulfilling the prophesy of being Rumple’s undoing.
