“Emma is under a terrible curse. Neal knows how to cure it.” (With True Love’s Kiss).

Why? Why wasn’t this the random scenario generated for Adam and Eddy? *heads desk*

“Emma and Neal at the beach.”

    Gah.

“Emma has something that Neal desperately wants or needs. Emma won’t give it up easily.”

    My fave Rumbelle scenario:
“Belle, a knight in shining armor, must rescue the distressed Rumple.”

My least-fave Rumbelle scenario (hits too close to recent canon):
    “Rumple playing pranks on Belle.”

    *ugly crying*

    1. Emma and Neal cuddling.
    2. Emma saved Neal’s life. Neal is honorbound to return the favor.

Neal and Emma meeting after they haven’t seen each other in a very long time.

The Universe is trying to tell us something. FATE, DESTINY, WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT. *heads desk*

Okay, so curiosity also got the better of me, and I also plugged in their names to the role-play scenario generator. Here’s what I got:
    1. Neal taking care of an injured Emma. (Crying at how perfect this would be).
    2. Neal and Emma are reincarnated lovers, but aren’t initially compatable to each other. (Gaaaaaah)
    3. Emma is the lead singer and Neal is the guitarist in a band.
    4. Emma is about to do something stupid. Neal does not think this is a good idea. (Like dating a pirate, the lover of Neal’s mom?)
    4. Emma and Neal get caught up in a storm and must stay sheltered together until it passes. (Like Snowing, S1, *sniff*)
    5. Neal has stowed away on a ship that Emma works on. (Neal is there to save Emma from a life as an indentured servant on the Jolly Roger).
    6. Emma and Neal go on a road trip. (To Tallahassee, Henry hides away in the backseat again).

Confirm for you and I perhaps, but I can guarantee you that the fandom will see it differently and in interviews A and E will make their language vague enough to keep it open to question

You’re probably right. *sigh* Even when we’ve had concrete proof in the past (i.e the swan necklace crossing realms due to its being born of true love), people refused to believe it. Typical Adam found a way to obfuscate things by saying it was Belle’s opinion. Right, as if an opinion couldn’t be based on fact.

Interesting theory, and it would be intriguing if that were to happen. However, I think the title is more likely a reference to the whole “Thief with a Heart of Gold” trope, which applies to Robin Hood.

Yes, we already know for sure we’re going to see a bit more of Robin Hood’s story in the fairytale flashbacks, and probably, his dealings with Mr. Gold in Manhattan during the 6 weeks in which Gold was banished from town. Robin said he had a dark past he wasn’t proud of so that could parallel Emma’s current struggle with darkness in the present day.

As I wrote though, I think the title has several different meanings. What is happening in present-day SB? The QoD are trying to get their happy endings. I think we’re going to see the plot taking off as we learn what Rumple’s plan is, and that ultimately, the QoD are working for him, not with him, and that they’re going to exploit the savior’s heart with the darkest potential for Mr. Gold’s purposes.

I think the story actually changes so that heroes are villains and villains are heroes

I think so, too. I think Rumple’s plan to corrupt the heart of the savior (i.e. Emma), is going to work. And since Emma has the heart with the darkest potential, it would make sense (on some level anyway), that it’s the key ingredient to making this happen. And Henry did say Emma would bring back the happy endings. Little did he know it would be the villains’, rather than the heroes’.

Yes, but what’ll that accomplish? How will they get out of that one storywise – if they have no memories … That’s the part I’m struggling with. They would have to be able to remember both lives for it to be a lesson bringing them to a better place and understanding of their fates.

Yeah, I’m also having trouble understanding what this little, let’s face it, 2-episode arc, will accomplish beyond the finale. Even if the villains manage to get their happy endings, it will only be a temporary AU, which eventually will be course-corrected so that the heroes still get their happy endings. Regina won’t want a happy ending that doesn’t include Henry. So the S4 finale won’t have any real or lasting implications the same way that Emma and Hook’s little trip into the past didn’t ultimately change the course of history very much. Elsa and “Marian” did come forward in time, but otherwise the events leading up to 3×20 remained unaltered for the most part.

I posted a new theory about the title for 4×17, Heart of Gold.

It sounds to me like what Mr. Gold is actually seeking isn’t just using Emma’s magic for dark purposes. To me, it sounds like what Mr. Gold is actually seeking is Emma’s literal heart. Now, I know Cora was unable to take Emma’s heart, precisely because Emma is the product of true love. But what if she were able to remove her own heart willingly, the way Henry was able to remove his own heart to give to Peter Pan? And I predict that we’ll see Emma’s heart, and that it’s going to be the color gold, like Henry’s is. Hence the title Heart of Gold.

I will be so pleased if this theory is correct, because it would confirm that Henry is a product of true love, just like Emma. Why? Because the biggest objection I’ve read for why Henry couldn’t possibly be born of true love, is that his heart was removable. Yet, my objection to that argument is that Henry had to remove his own heart willingly for Pan to get it. The reason Cora couldn’t take Emma’s heart by force is that Emma’s a product of true love, but if Emma were able to remove her own heart willingly, that would debunk the argument completely about true-love hearts not being removable. And if Emma’s heart turns out to be a golden color, then all the better, seeing how Henry’s heart is a golden color, too. It would offer further proof that both Emma and Henry are both products of true love.
