ParticipantI saw it last weekend and absolutely adored it. I thought it was near perfect. Dan and Emma both did great jobs, though I thought Dan really did some good work portraying the Beast and I *adore* his solo toward the end.
Oh, yes! I’ve been listening to Evermore all morning. Dan Stevens totally nailed the Beast. No one else will ever come close for me.

ParticipantWhoa. Is that the first ever full on Regina/Emma hug?? (over a CS proposal. Swen is gonna lose their minds)
Lana Parilla played Regina as being more heartbroken than happy in that scene, in my opinion. There’re a lot of subtle emotions going on in her face, and when she repeats the line, “I’m happy for you. I really am,” the audience doesn’t quite believe her for some reason. It seems like Regina is trying to hide that her heart is breaking, even if she wishes her best friend well. Is it because Regina is heartbroken that Emma is getting married to someone like Hook? Regina said Emma was too good for him. Is it because Emma is supposedly going to live HEA while Regina is having to come to terms with losing Robin Hood all over again? Again, Regina loses out.

ParticipantI saw the movie last night. Warning: spoilers! I thought the music, the acting, and the visuals were all stunning. There were some new songs woven throughout which made it a lovely musical. Emma did a great job as Belle and really gave her a believable performance, especially as a more mordern woman ahead of her time who believes in teaching women to read and being a bit of an inventor. And Dan Stevens totally brought an amazing quality to the Beast, especially with his voice performance. Luke Evans as Gaston was hilarious! There was a scene when he sings to himself in the mirror. The rest of the supporting cast did a great job, too.
Did anyone else watch it yet? What did you think of Emma Watson as Belle? What did you think of Dan Stevens as the Beast? What about the rest of the cast?

ParticipantRemember when this show was really about families working out their issues, about coming together again, and finding healing?
You’re my happy ending.
The things we haven’t thought about in years still have the ability to make us cry.
Don’t mind me. *sniff*

ParticipantI hate the Baelfire retcon, but it doesn’t ruin the character for me because I still think he was a good person. The problem is that I have to do a lot of work to explain to myself what they’re trying to do. As I see it, there are two main problems: sloppy worldbuilding and consequent retconning of the dagger, and Baelfire ordering to kill Beowulf. This part especially is either just lazy, sloppy writing, or a conscious effort to take the character off the “pedestal,” or a combo of the two. Much like what they did to Snowing at one point.
Pretty much THAT. I really didn’t like the retcon, but I’ll always love Baelfire. This new development seems so left field and OOC for me, but sadly I’m not surprised. For some reason, these writers feel the need to darken our heros — Snow, Charming, Emma, Robin, and Belle — to make the other villains look better by comparison.
So, it doesn’t come as much surprise that the writers would rake Baelfire through the mud, despite his being dead for 3 seasons. Sadly, I think the writers fail to realize that they’ve ended up throwing their show under the bus as a result. I predict the ratings will continue to go down this season and become even more fractional. I wouldn’t be surprised if we hit 0.6 by half way through S6b. About shoddy world building, I agree. Besides the former dark ones who felt the allure of the dagger, the only people who’ve been shown to like the power of controlling the dark one were pretty much Cora and Zelena, but they were already power hungry and evil. But we haven’t been given much, if any, evidence of others who liked the power the came with controlling the dagger. Neither Regina nor Belle really showed much evidence that they liked contolling the dark one. This isn’t LOTR where the ring actually spoke to anyone who held it. The only ones affected by the lure of the dark one dagger are those who’ve been cursed. *head desk*

ParticipantGold and Son? Oh maybe Rumple died and Gideon takes over his store?
Maybe it’s Mrs. Gold and Son now … I’m sure Rumple would have left his shop to his wife in case of his early death. He’s a lawyer after all and probably knows how to draft a will.

ParticipantHook, determined to make things work with Emma, turns to his old friend Capt. Nemo for advice,
Didn’t Hook just seek advice from Archie? He just needs to confess. Sheesh!

Participant“He should just say, ‘Hold on a second. Before we do this, I should let you know that this is the case,’
Yes. That’s actually exactly what should have happened.
Colin said what all of us were thinking. He knows what’s what because that is what honest people do. Hook lacked the moral courage to come clean to Emma (again). I know this drama is being drawn out, and he probably will tell her, but it bothered me that Emma got engaged without know the truth (again). JMo trying to make it out like Emma was somehow at fault for finding the ring — as if any of it were her fault — is really sad and uncomfortable.

ParticipantNope. Nopey nope nope nope.
Yeah, the hell was this?! I can literally think of five different ways in which they could have written something in that vein without utterly ruining Bae’s character. I think they did this maliciously and on purpose.
The last time I felt like they totally character assassinated him was the night Nealfire died. And once again it was about how Bae/Neal would never recklessly use dark magic.
This is total garbage. They still tried to ruin Bae’s character posthumously. What is this show?

Participant“You’re going to see a wide-range of people singing from regulars to cameos to people you wouldn’t expect.”
I wonder who will make a cameo! It would make sense to include Jasmine since the actress was in another musical fairy tale series on ABC, but probably she won’t be given other spoilers. She’d also be expected, and Eddy hinted we wouldn’t expect the cameo appearances.
