This is really well-thought through and the reasoning seems very sound to me. I’m not ready to kiss Neal goodbye just yet.
@Lauren – I love your SF images. Do you think you could make a SF banner for me sometime? 🙂

ParticipantIf Adam says he was misquoted, or it was taken out of context, then I believe him. It may be “damage control” but then again it seems like the person who conducted the interview is a huge fan of Hook. I’m not saying that is a bad thing, but always question the source and bias. Adam said that it was about character growth, not time on the show, and so for now, all we can do is take him at his word or not. Only time will tell what is the truth of the matter.

ParticipantAnd I like the “Home” theme. As others have said, ‘home’ is many different things to many people and I think one of the best things I feel this show has done is point out that ‘home’ and ‘family’ doesn’t only look like the stereotypical mom-dad-2.5 kids Leave it to Beaver definition of family.
I agree that family and home don’t have to meet the nuclear family model. Family can come in many varieties and forms. Henry’s family is a good example of that. But, it seems like there’s been such a major shift in society that anything “traditional” is sometimes looked down on. What’s so wrong with two people who love each other, and who may have a kid together, resolving to work out their issues because they want to? It seems like co-parenting and divorce have become the norm, so that anything else is almost frowned upon nowadays or sticks out. I’m thankful my own parents have stayed together for over 30 years, and they didn’t just do it for me. They did it because they love each other and made a commitment.

ParticipantHere are some more tweets on the unmentionable spoiler. Take them as you will.
@jjrovers no they don't

@tatersites quote slightly out of context. We were talking about character growth sayin he wouldn't go anywhere til he does. Same for Neal

@tatersites slight out of context. Meant not going anywhere til character grows. Same aplies to Neal, Belle, Emma, etc

ParticipantAnother tweet from Adam. Damage control? Sneaky sneakster? I vote sneaky sneakster. And even though it’s a TV show and not state espionage, no one is better at big plot twists and A&E.

ParticipantEither Adam just gave away a big spoiler, in which case, he’s really bad at this #nospoiler business, or he is really sly and cunning. Which is it? Time will tell. Maybe his words really were referring to character growth, as he claimed in his tweet. We’ll only know for sure when the season is done.

BUT that being said, I am really suspicious of the recent spoilers and interviews we’ve received lately (especially the one today). The wording that they choose are extremely ambiguous: “we won’t see that this year” could mean in the future, or it could mean not at all. “He’s not going anywhere” could mean for a while, not leaving SB, not going to another land. “eventually he will get a costume change”, could mean he’s in a flashback in his navy uniform, or a younger incarnation of Hook before Milah (pirates did add on to their clothes as they plundered). It doesn’t mean he’ll be in jeans and a cardigan. They didn’t say and it doesn’t mean, that Hook isn’t going to die. And even if he is, would they actually say that in an interview? Of course not! If I were A&E, that’s exactly what I would do. Answer as ambiguously as possible so it couldn’t be said later that I lied, and give snippets of info to add to the excitement of the upcoming episodes. Another thing I find suspicious was their statement about sometimes you revert back to who you were (or something to that effect). I can’t see Rumple or Regina reverting back to their old “villain” ways, but I could see Hook doing it. Rumple and Regina have both backslid in their arcs, only to finally be redeemed through great sacrifice. Have we seen this with Hook? The answer is no. Both of our villains have lived through their sacrifices, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t in danger of dying. Now, the lack of MRJ on set and lackluster answers to interview questions could be seen in a few ways. Either he is dead, and dead is dead and they dont want to spoil it. OR it’s not him. OR he does die and is brought back (they did say a death would be reversed). Personally, I think that he’s being kept very tight under wraps on purpose so the fandom has no idea whether or not he’s alive or dead. A&E have been very very careful this season about not spoiling too much (#nospoilers), fewer sneak peaks and script teases, no info during interviews. If Neal is the one that dies, then they did a terrible job of keeping that a secret, which is why I have a feeling everyone will be shocked when he’s not. The first episode hasn’t even aired yet, and we all know who the death is going to be? Either they’re really really bad at this, or they’re geniuses.
Well said! I couldn’t have put it better myself. Yes, Neal could be dead, in which case they’ve done a terrible job about keeping that under wraps. Or A&E are clever b@$t@rds who’re fantastic at trickery! For the time, I prefer to think of them as cunning you-know-whats.

ParticipantHere’s a tweet that might help you feel better! That quotation “He’s [Hook’s] not going anywhere,” was taken out of context, according to Adam.

ParticipantRumplesGirl wrote:they are clever but at the same time, they talked about how heated it gets in debates in the writing room. And it makes me think that if the other writers are really enamored of Hook/CS then would A and E back down from their original SF vision (if it was their original idea) because the rest of the room no longer thinks it’s a good idea?
First, there may be debates in and amongst the writing room staff, but at the end of the day, the people with executive power and final-decision making authority are A&E. The writing room is not a democracy. They may take other writers’ opinions on board, but they’re still the bosses.
RumplesGirl wrote: Likewise, they might have been really coy about Nealfire’s role in S3B because it’s so big, but then there is the lack of shooting on MRJ’s part. *sigh* I am really frustrated with the back and forth–one article gives me hope and the other crushes me.
Remember we don’t know if there has been a lack of shooting on MRJ’s part; for all we know, there has been a lot, just in studio, in front of a green screen. He may not have a lot of outdoor scenes as a result, because maybe that would be way too big a spoiler. Maybe his role won’t be as pronounced in the first half of S3b, but it will increase in the latter half.

ParticipantCould someone please tweet Adam this question: Why did Emma end up in NYC rather than Boston in 3×11? I don’t have Twitter, otherwise, I’d ask. Thanks.
