In a recent article we now have Adam and Eddy saying S3b’s theme is going to be the concept of “home.”

‘lt’s the same show but different. We are going to see the after effects of everything in that finale,” adds co-creator and executive producer Adam Horowitz’ ”We’re going [to] start a whole new story thread.’”. While the first part of the season was about belief and believing in yourself, ”the theme of the second part of the season, I would say, is home. What does that mean? ls it something we’re all looking for? How do you find it? How do you find something when you have it?” adds Kitsis.

“Believe a Lost Girl Can Find Her Way Home” is Emma’s S3 theme, and even though the plot is moving on from NL to Oz, the characters’ arcs will continue to develop along those lines.

Also, as I posted something in the thread about ABC Medianet article:

Master storytellers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (“Lost,” “Tron: Legacy”) invite everyone to join Emma Swan as she struggles to understand whether she belongs in New York City, where she has begun a new life with Henry, or back in Storybrooke, where things have never been simple. As she works to provide a stable environment for her and Henry, she learns that there’s no place like home. But the question remains: where is that for Emma?

I think the idea of “home” is very important to Emma. She dreamt of making a home with Neal in Tallahassee. In Nasty Habits, she looked up at light pattern Neal’s coconut cast and whispered the word “home” in the same intonation she did all those years before. It’s very interesting that she and Henry ended up in NYC, the place Neal most recently called home, rather than Boston, the place where Emma lived prior to arriving in SB.  At the end of  Going Home, she awoke at 8:15 to the song “Charley’s Girl” –a song we first heard when Neal made his debut in Broken–which again links Emma’s concept of home to Neal. It seems even when Emma is cursed, she thinks very similarly to Neal. And according to the promo for New York Serenade, Emma will rediscover the dreamcatcher Neal kept. These things seem very deliberate to me, especially in a story arc about Oz and the importance of home. Just my two cents.

“No Place Like Home”, which can have a number of meanings. Would also parallel 311′s title.

Yes, there could be a lot of thematic parallels.

As it currently stands, we don’t know enough about the WW, her powers, or her curse to know whether there is magic or not in SB. I’m inclined to think that if/when the WW casts this new curse (as it seems she will), then I’d say initially there won’t be any magic in town, just as there wasn’t in S1 until Rumple dropped the potion of true love down the well. Maybe the WW will likewise try and bottle true love from the hairs of Charming and Snow; it seems like the second child of Snowing and the new baby for Aurora/Philip could also be important to the WW’s plans. Maybe she wants to make more saviors? I could see it going that way (which would be sort of unoriginal if you ask me, but hey, the writers will do what they will).

Neal is central to so many characters’ lives and his happiness is so intricately tied up with other characters’ idea of a happy ending that I’m pretty sure he’ll survive. The writers will probably keep up the suspense until the last moment, but I think Neal is too important a character not to get another chance. After all, he survived what should’ve been a fatal gunshot after falling through a bean portal. That guy is durable!

I think it’s interesting that this is most likely for 3×19 and she’s the first other character from OZ we’re going to see. Anyone else think they are just focusing on the Wicked Witch and not bringing in any of the other elements–Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, Lion?

I think we’ll see Dorothy, who is now a middle-aged woman, and her son, who could be Chris Gorham’s character. There were those pics Jennifer Morrison tweeted from 3×16 of what could be the old Gale family farm. I just don’t think we’ll get to see Dorothy’s adventures in Oz. That story has been done so many times. This will be OUAT’s take on it though.

    *Not the puppies!*

I am not surprised that ABC got rid of the official podcast. As enjoyable as it was and as much as I wish it’d continued, the network probably thought it offered too much insight. Better to keep the mystery and the fans guessing in the eyes of the network. ABC probably thinks the ratings have been dropping to an all-time low because “too much of a good thing is a bad thing.” That’s probably why ABC also cut back on releasing so many official sneak peeks before each episode and now refrain from releasing the official press release until the week of. It sure would be nice though to get the official podcast at a time when the fandom sure could use a dose of authorial intent rather than fan interoperation. A voice of reason would do wonders.
