Participanthowever, the “maybe next year with Hook and Belle makes me extremely nervous. *sigh* I kinda hate all the mixed messages
Honestly, what else are they going to say? They can’t let on if anyone is staying or leaving the show so the standard answer to those types of questions is always going to be “maybe next season” or “not this year” since that’d be a dead giveaway. If someone had asked something about Neal that wasn’t going to be answered this season then A&E probably would’ve given the same standard reply of “maybe one day.” Also, with regards to Hook’s work for PP, I keep thinking they might be setting the stage for a NL spin-off; A&E have said point-blank that we won’t be revisiting NL in S3b but are they honestly going to revisit in S4 well after the storyline has moved on? That seems unlikely to me, so it seems like there really could be a new NL spin-off in the works.

ParticipantWill we know for sure who Emma’s true love is by the end of Season 3?
Horowitz: Can’t say.I’m thinking “can’t say” is Adam-speak for yes.
Will we see Belle and Neal bond over their shared loss of loved ones?
Kitsis: Yup.I thought we might. I’d love to see them work together to save Rumple!
Is the Wicked Witch related to any of the characters we’ve seen on the show?
Kitsis: Can’t tell you.I’m thinking that is a definite yes and that the person is REGINA.
Do other characters besides Regina have history with the Wicked Witch?
Horowitz: Yes.Rumple? Cora? Hook?
Did the storybook appear to Mary Margaret when Henry began to question his situation?
Kitsis: That’s a tricky one. It’s not a yes, no or can’t answer.
Horowitz: You’ve seen part of the reasoning in Episode 311 and hopefully more.
Kitsis: More to come! This makes me think we’ll finally get to meet the author of Henry’s book, who perhaps is played by Chris Gorham.
Could Greg (Ethan Embry) still be alive since Blue (Keegan Connor Tracy) returned to her body when the Shadow was burned?
Kitsis: Absolutely he could be, but he’s stuck in a cave in Neverland. Since we’re not going this year, I don’t think we’ll see him.Well that’s a relief!
Will Emma finally have a friend who isn’t her mom?
Kitsis: She will. She absolutely will. In a lot of ways, I might say that Hook has become a friend that isn’t her mom.Well that’s interesting that Eddy uses the term “friend” to describe Hook’s relationship to Emma.

I admit extreme bias, yet some of the most recent tweets from Adam suggest an attempt to reinterpret Hook’s relatioship with Emma. Hook has not been stated to be a love interest for Emma? That feels a little different than has been previously suggested by A&E. And why do that now if it’s not a weak, doomed to fail, attempt to temper expectations.
And after the LR 11, Eddy just totally put Hook in the “friend-zone” for Emma. Why? Well, I think it’s because her heart is already spoken for by Neal.
Molly wrote: I believe that mind games are being played and that MRJ is intentionally being kept under wraps. The online community will assume that Neal dies and then, shock, Neal lives.
That’s precisely what I think will happen. A&E are big fans of shockers, misdirections, and trickery, so making everyone think Neal is a goner but then lowering the boom that Hook is the one is something they’d totally do.

ParticipantOgre attack?
I was thinking Flying Monkeys attack, along with the WWW on her broomstick.

ParticipantRumplesGirl wrote: Is it possible that at the same time Hook got a portal from the WWW–if that is what happened–he also got a memory potion? We’ve been under the assumption that Blue gave it to him but what if it wasn’t?
I think it’s HIGHLY likely that is what happens! I was actually thinking along the same lines. We saw in the promo for 3×12 that the WW was concocting a potion from someone’s hair….maybe that is the potion she gives to Hook, who then uses it on Emma. I’m not sure what the WWW would get out of Emma returning to town, but maybe like Rumple did in S1, the WWW actually desires Emma to break this new curse. Plus, WWW controlling Rumple would be an added bonus from Hook’s perspective. Hook may have temporarily called a truce with Rumple, but he certainly hasn’t forgiven him for killing Milha and cutting off his hand. Making a deal with the WW, who may actually be powerful enough to challenge Rumple, is like icing on the cake.

ParticipantMickstemp wrote: So their memories go back as 3×11 therefore implying the lost year spent in the EF is essentially (temporarily) wiped from their minds and out of everyone Hook’s the only one who managed to evade this specific dilemma? Hmm. Am I reading that correctly?
Yes, you’re reading that correctly, which is why I think it’s a huge red herring that Hook has been made out to seem like the main protagonist going into S3b. If you ask me, something is rotten in the kingdom of
Denmarkthe Enchanted Forest. How could only Hook have escaped this new curse unless he’s taken measures into his own hands to ensure it? Hook has made deals with witches before. Also is this just a general curse for the sake of casting a curse or is there someone who doesn’t want them to remember something the group achieved/were planning/discovered etc.,?
I think the WW is the one who doesn’t want anyone to remember the previous year, for some unknown reason, but she may not be the only one.
Perhaps the death is the result of the individual giving up his/her life in order to break the curse and unlock the memories the group had in EF which could possibly be used to defeat WWW Would kind of explain Adam’s reasoning that the death of this character is because the story “demanded” it
Yes, that would explain how the story “demands” it but I’m not sure if self-sacrifice is required to break this new curse or not. I have an inkling what will ultimately break the curse will be Emma and Neal’s sharing a TLK. The first cursed was ended when Emma kissed her son, whom she really loves, and the only other person whom Emma has ever said that to is Neal, which seems highly significant to me. Why else would the writers have bothered to repeat it so many times since S2? If Emma and Neal’s story were really over, the writers would have simply ended it with him falling through the bean portal in 2×21. Instead, the writers allowed Neal to survive to S3 and for Emma to repeat how much she loves Neal again. If it weren’t important, the writers wouldn’t have wasted their time repeating it so many times. I think it’s because they want to underscore just how much Neal means to Emma and why she was so heartbroken and angry that she never got to explore what that meant with him. And when Eddy Kitsis says it’s really powerful to hear Emma declare her love for someone, I believe it! Also, why else have Neal tell Emma their story isn’t over in 3×11? That is why I believe Emma and Neal’s story isn’t done and why their love is true; no matter how many obstacles life has throne at them, they’ve never stopped loving one another. In a story about hope, love, family, forgiveness and happy endings, to deny Emma and Neal that second chance to finally be together would just be unfathomable to me. I know things don’t always turn out like we think, but I think the writers have left us sufficient evidence to see this story is about a family’s reconciliation, and at the heart of that story is Emma and Neal’s love for one another.

Participantkfchimera wrote: Yes, I’m on the fence too. It could be a set up to just hand-waive away previous development and create a whole new dynamic between everyone. The part that’s most thought provoking here is that “not everyone can be trusted”. What to make of that? Once again, no mention of Neal. We never get the assurance that Neal and Emma will have scenes together and time to truly deal with the things that have happened to them–some fairy tale obstacle is always in the way. I’m trying to take Slurpeez’s words and kindle that flame of hope that the writers will not just do a rug sweep here and that there will be some payoff to the storyline and all the set-up with things like putting Emma in NYC, having her keep the bug, and other elements.
While I see your point that this could be a major shift by making Hook the main male protagonist, I honestly think that is too obvious; that’s what A&E almost want people to think, because they enjoy trickery. In S3, it seems like Hook has been rewritten and his history rewritten, and yet PP, Charming and Regina have been quick to remind Hook in S3 he’s done these dark things like leaving the town for dead and letting GOAT torture Regina. Also, I think that the lack of mention of Neal is actually a positive sign that he’s going to play a big role in S3b, which is why Jane Espenson, Adam and Eddy haven’t said much about him: his story arc is going to be big by the end of the season. I just don’t think A&E would kill off Neal, whose name means champion and who is a beloved character of their own creation–the character for whom Rumple cast the original dark curse. To do so would be a nail in coffin, not just for Bae’s second chance at happiness, but would also take away Rumple’s, Henry’s and arguably Emma’s chances at happiness, too, in one fell swoop. I think Hook has been built up as Mr. Wonderful this year as a deliberate misdirection; while he may make the ultimate heroic sacrifice, I think his journey there won’t exactly be a straight and narrow one.

ParticipantI’m irked over all the lost character development. They had a whole year to work together as a team, a family and POOF…CURSE takes it away.
Yes, but someday this curse too shall be broken and then all will remember again.

ParticipantRumplesGirl wrote: I actually just came to the same conclusion you did and put that OMG back a page. How does Hook get out of FTL if not with some help??
Yes, we must’ve hit “submit” at the same time. The minute I read that someone can’t be trusted, my mind immediately flashed to Hook. Of all the people who have a tendency to switch sides, he’s the one with a track record for doing so. He may seem like he’s reformed into the helpful hero, but I also think he’s still in it to win Emma, at all costs. I predict he’s going to do the selfish thing up until the last minute when he has a change of heart and then makes the ultimate sacrifice to help Emma, for whom he has unrequited love, be reunited with her true love, who is his “son,” Neal. In so doing, his life won’t have been wasted, because he’ll have done something to help the people he loves.
