ParticipantRG wrote: Or would you let the actor really go out with a bang: give him a VERY big story and then kill him? If you look at the numbers for the first half, Colin was the male with the most amount of screen time which made sense given that it was NL but what if it was also letting him shine and his character shine before killing Hook?
Interesting. Possibly.

ParticipantMaybe Blackbeard works at the bakery, given the ship steering wheel in the display window. Imagine a “cut-throat” pirate as a baker.

ParticipantFair point, there could certainly be a good real life reason why they might kill Henry off. I’ve gotta wonder if they really would kill a kid though, especially when there are kids who watch the show?
Exactly, and why kill Henry? Just send him to boarding school. They could invent a reason like Emma thinks he’s had enough of fairytales and wants to keep his “normalcy” so he never gets his memories of SB back.

ParticipantAt the end of the day, we can all have our own speculations about the real motives that the writers have to do anything. I’m simply basing my opinion off of how I’ve interpreted the story so far and what the producers have said. I know that script writing is a business as well as an art, but I think A&E are good at keeping to their vision. They didn’t cave to change their original idea that Henry’s father would be Neal just because fans guessed well in advance he was really Baelfire. They maintained the course they wanted. I’m not presuming to know what the writers have planned in advance; I’m just saying I think they mapped out S3 well in advance, including this sad spoiler. I don’t think it was just sprung out of nowhere due to outside pressures or whatnot. That would be a very sloppy way to conclude a season when OUAT ratings have been dropping consistently.

ParticipantSome people don’t view Hook as a hero still, despite Neverland. That was his theme in NVL, that was his story. Will it continue, yes but I’m not gonna hold the poster as proof. Actions speak louder than words.
I agree actions speak louder than words and that Hook’s theme will continue just as I believe everyone else’s character themes will too (and will be supported by the actions, dialogue and new direction the show goes in).

ParticipantI just ultimately don’t think that the S3A posters are gonna carry on to this half of the season.
But the themes probably will still tie in, even if the plot changes course (which it is…we’re going to Oz). The themes weren’t just about plot….they’re about the characters themselves.
- Will Charming still fight for his family? Always!
- Will Snow White continue to believe in hope? She wouldn’t be Snow if she didn’t!
- Will Regina’s maternal love still be stronger than her dark heart? Yes; she’s a protective mama!
- Will Emma find her way back home to her family? Yes, she’ll find her parents again!
- Will Hook the pirate become a hero? Yes!
- Will Henry continue to believe in the impossible? Yes, he’s still the truest believer (albeit cursed).
- Will Rumple change his fate? Yes, he survives!
- Will Belle continue to find strength in the unlikeliest of places? I bet she will! Rumple told her she made him stronger in 3×11!
- Will Neal get his second chance? I think so!
Rumple never said that. Rumple’s direct quote is “You can have a chance at happiness, and that happiness is possible just not with me”. Possible does not mean a guarantee, same as saying it’s not a guarantee he would get a happy ending.
All happy endings start with hope though, and we know Snow was speaking in the context of hope that Neal could still be alive (it was in episode 3×6).
