Also, we have yet to find out more about Neal Cassidy’s life pre-Manhattan or to see the return of August, as both were hinted at in the TV Guide Lightning Round 10 and Lightning Round 9 with A&E. I don’t think we’re going to find out answers to those questions between episodes 3×12 – 3×18, which as far as we know, are not Neal-centric. I think we can therefore safely assume that a Neal-centric episode in the second half of S3 is still forthcoming and post 3-18.

Also, remember this quotation from Eddy Kitsis from the official ABC podcast.

“Seeing Emma say “I love you” to somebody was very powerful and to see that connection between the two of them was very powerful.” — Eddy Kitsis

Yes, Emma telling Neal she loves him is emotionally powerful. Yet, could Eddy also be hinting that their love is powerful in a literal sense? After all, Emma embodies true love, the most powerful magic of all, so one might be inclined to suspect her really loving someone might be enough to do something amazing and unexpected.

I was just reading a 2000 Reader’s Digest interview of  J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series. She reveals her aim as a writer is to trick, not con, which is just another way of saying misdirection.

“Potions, intrigue, magic and ‘what happens next’,” says Williams. “The same formula Shakespeare used.” Rowling may write about wizards, ghosts, elves and the hippogriff, which is half-horse, half-eagle, but her books are driven with all the suspense and twists of detective novels. Perhaps that’s why Harry is also hugely popular with adults. Stories of parents muscling in to read each new volume ahead of their children are common.

“I love a good whodunnit and my passion is plot construction. Readers loved to be tricked, but not conned,” Rowling says, warming to her theme. “The best twist ever in literature is in Jane Austen’s Emma. To me she is the target of perfection at which we shoot in vain.”

That’s an important lesson to take away. We don’t know for sure the final outcome until it actually happens, and even then, question everything. If there is one thing being a fan of Jane Austen’s novels, Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes has taught me, it’s that we must look for the subtext to get the real gist.

And also, I wouldn’t be shocked by trolling. Who knows???!

I for one wouldn’t be that surprised if that is what is going on: narrative misdirection. As frustrating and irritating as it can be, there isn’t anything we can do except wait and see.

Could you also ask the follow question please?

    – When did Neal discover Henry had been adopted by Regina?

    – What did Neal think about the fact Emma kept the yellow bug?

Also….MRJ said his #AskMRJ is at an odd time, “but round here lies madness”…which could be because he’s still filming for 3×17. Also, he added a cryptic “Bwahaha” which could be in keeping with his #Boom from last Friday when he let it be known he was indeed still filming. Could MRJ be giving us subtle clues to laugh in the face of speculation and/or misdirection? One can hope!

I agree with Mickstemp’s assessment. My first reaction was to question who’s missing? The absence of both Rumple and Neal seems strange to me. I think it is a funeral (though can’t be sure), but the question is whose it is. Would the writers really film a funeral for Baelfire, the long-lost son of Rumple, without the father present? That seems highly suspect to me. Perhaps this is a memorial service for Rumple and Neal can’t make it for some reason. Who knows?

I actually find it kind of hilarious that pics of everyone signing a jersey that says “O’Neil” of all things, has people jumping to conclusions about Neal’s death, (not suggesting that people think the name on the jersey is related, just saying, the coincidence makes me LOL).

The #14 O’Neil “Traveling Jersey” has nothing to do with Neal, the character. The person who posted the pictures gave a link to the real story behind the pics of the actors signing the “traveling jersey.” It’s actually very heartwarming and simultaneously sad. You can read more about it in the link provided here.
