ParticipantHere’s a pretty SF drawing:
At some point during this hiatus we should update that with Eriel and Cylice parallels
Okay, I’ll map out some points for Eriel. Could you please map out some points for Cylice? Let’s divide and conquer. 🙂
Eriel/Swanfire parallels:
– In 3×6, Ariel was afraid to tell Eric the truth that she’s a mermaid because she was afraid he’d reject her. This parallels Neal’s fear of rejection and Emma’s fear of getting hurt again.
– Both Ariel and Emma confided in Snow White that they’ve never stopped loving their respective men, Eric and Neal. Snow White is a confidant and a friend to both women. Also, if there is one thing Snow White is basically an expert in, it’s intuitively understanding other people’s feelings and also True Love. Snow has a lifetime of losing and finding Charming to know what it’s like.
– In 3×6, Snow told Ariel to “do the hard thing” about opening oneself up to love, because “it’s so worth the risk.” Likewise, Snow challenged Emma that she owes it to herself to have hope Neal could still be alive, because “happy endings start with hope” and Emma “deserves a happy ending.” Later in 3×10, Snow and Charming again challenged Emma to meet Neal for lunch, again because Emma owes it to herself to see if doing so would be a happy moment for her.
– Ariel chose to save her friend, Snow White, ahead of her own desire for a happy ending with Eric, just as Emma chose to put Henry first ahead of her own desire for a happy ending, which could possibly be with Neal.
– Ariel and Eric spent 30+ years alone thinking they’d never get a second chance to be together. They were separated across worlds, Ariel in NL, and Eric in SB. Likewise, Emma and Neal spent 11 years alone thinking they’d never get a second chance with one another. Later, Emma and Neal were separated across worlds when he fell through a portal to EF and she was in NL. Now they’re serrated again with Emma being in NYC and Neal being in the EF.
– Ariel finally got a second chance to tell Eric the truth, to do the hard thing, and her patience was rewarded with the kiss from Eric she’d been waiting for for 3 decades. Emma confronted Neal with the hard truth that she she’s always loved and probably always will, but right now, she’s afraid of losing him again. Emma and Neal’s story is still on hold, but she was about to do the hard thing of having lunch with him, of seeing what future possibly could exist for them, up until the dark curse separated them again.

ParticipantJo, that’s so true. I can just picture Emma going everywhere, and feeling he’s there.
That makes me think of e.e. cummings’ i carry your heart with me
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)i fear no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is youhere is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars aparti carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Poor Emma and Neal! No wonder Emma thinks she doesn’t get a happy ending as the savior; she keeps losing Neal because of her special destiny as the savior. Emma’s idea of a happy ending is just being with her family, which includes Neal. She never stopped loving him and was terrified of losing him again.
In 3×11, Emma said to her parents:
Emma: I’m the savior. Having moments–it’s just not my life. Every time I think I’m going to sit back and enjoy myself, I just can’t.
Snow: I used to think the same way.
Emma: I’m different. My magic is different. The price of being the savior is I don’t get a day off.
Later, Emma was seemingly proven correct in her assumption that as the savior, she doesn’t get a day off. Although she gets to keep Henry, she doesn’t get to be with her parents or with the man she loves, Neal. Bad things do keep happening to her. And yet, Snow tells her daughter to have hope. Why? Because Snow had hope that Emma would find them on her 28th birthday and free them. And she did. As the savior, Emma is special.
Or as Snow would say, “It’s time for you to believe in yourself, Emma, to find your hope.” And we all know that Snow thought Emma owes it to herself to believe that Neal could still be alive, and then again to have lunch with him, because happy endings start with hope. Neal is the one who gave Emma hope with his partings words to her and Henry. “This isn’t over. I’ll see both of you again.” I believe the story is progressing to show that Neal and Emma’s idea of a happy ending is of being together, as a family. They were almost home in Tallhassee, and now they’re both going home. Emma made her home with Henry in NYC — Neal’s home.

ParticipantYuuuuuuuuup. There are quite a lot of parallels, aren’t there.
Just check the first post of this entire thread. 🙂

ParticipantTo me, it’s evident why Snow White identifies with Neal. Both of them have let Emma go in order for her to save her people by fulfilling her destiny.
As KFChimera wrote, there are also parallels between Snow/Charming/Abigail and Emma/Neal/Tamara. Here is a GIF set which shows that familiar fake-fiancé TV trope.

Participant@KFChimera – Bravo for that post!
Am I the only one that thinks Snowing already know about Neal and jail?
I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Emma confided in Snow off-screen with the truth about Neal leaving her. Snow and Emma were together a few days between Emma returning from Manhattan and going to NL. Snow already seems to be aware of the truth.
More SF goodness!
I’m not a victim of clichés

ParticipantMaybe I’m remembering wrong, but we haven’t seen her drink it on the street. Hook hands it to her and she holds it, but we have no set images of her actually drinking it there on the street. Now I think she does but later, maybe at the same time she’s “finding” the dreamcatcher or is with another of her many talismans.
Ok – technically there’s no photo of Emma holding up the vial to her lips, but there are before and after pictures. On the street outside of the police station, 1) Hook hands Emma what appears to be a potion 2) Emma hugs Hook, suggesting she remembers after drinking whatever is in his hand.
