I heard somewhere: Love is about forgiveness and second chances…
What’s does that sound like? ;]

And it’s a good thing, too, or the majority of the human race would be without love. Who amongst us hasn’t been in need of forgiveness at some point or another? And with Neal, his mistakes are outweighed by his self-sacrifice, which was to get Emma home. If Neal doesn’t deserve a second chance, then who does?

WILL REGINA COME FACE TO FACE WITH HER TRUE LOVE ROBIN HOOD?
That awaited encounter takes place in the second episode back, airing March 16. But since Regina once already forsook the chance to meet him (in flashback), Kitsis asks: “What does it look like for her to be given a second chance? How does she react to it?” — especially when she’s a bit preoccupied with “huge, more important things,” Horowitz notes, “like the loss of her son, and trying to destroy that Wicked Witch!”

I’m really looking forward to Regina and Robin’s first meeting, but I’m going to wager it’ll take Regina quite some time before she accepts what Robin Hood has to offer her. I think their love story will be one that unfolds over a prolonged period of time as they struggle against outside forces like the WWW.

WILL HOOK BE ABLE TO JOG EMMA’S MEMORY? The midseason finale closed with Emma and Henry — one year after being sapped of their Storybrooke memories — being visited in New York City by a strange man wearing guyliner and way too much leather. And when he went in for True Love’s Kiss, Emma was having none of it. “Emma’s not easily charmed by him in the real world,” Kitsis reports. “I’ll just say that!”

Hmmmm. We’ve already seen spoiler images of Emma drinking what appears to be a magic potion. By the looks of it, it’s the Blue Fairy’s potion, not TLK, which jogs her memories by the end of 3×12.

WHY DID HOOK, AND NOT NEAL, COME FOR EMMA IN NEW YORK CITY?
“There’s a very good reason why Neal didn’t come,” Kitsis assures. (Perhaps Henry’s pop is counted among the “family” Hook arrived to report was “in trouble”?)

It’s really nice to hear Eddy Kitsis himself say there is a very good reason why Neal didn’t come in person. And I’m thinking that reason has something to do with Oz, the WWW, and/or Rumple. It’s not that he doesn’t want to be there (after all he’s a native New Yorker), but he’s actually unable to be there. Either Neal’s injured, trapped, or on a quest to save his father.

IS NEAL STILL HENRY’S FATHER? Though Regina gifted Emma and Henry with new, “good” memories in which the incarcerated beauty had never given her boy up for adoption, Henry’s paternity remains intact. That said, any eventual reunion won’t necessarily be a joyful one. “In Emma’s current mind. the last time she saw Neal, that guy f—ing let her go to jail,” Kitsis points out. “She doesn’t have the benefit of re-meeting him in New York.”

In other words, Emma and Neal meeting again in Manhattan served a very important purpose in the sense that as soon as she saw him again, Emma realized she’d never stopped loving him. Also, Emma doesn’t remember the true reason Neal left Emma, which was to get her home to her parents, or the fact that he’s sincerely apologized and admitted his regret. Now that she has no memory of her parents, she doesn’t realize the self-sacrifice that Neal made for her. Nevertheless, once Emma remembers who she is by 3×12, then I predict the Swanfire reunion will in fact be a happy one because she’ll remember the true events.

HAS BELLE LOST RUMPLE FOREVER? This is where the producers will only offer up a pat, “Keep watching…. The fate of Rumple and Belle is something that’s going to be explored.” Since the Dark One seemingly did himself in, in the course of vanquishing Peter Pan/his father Malcolm, “There’s plenty of story we have in mind for Belle, that we hope the audience likes,” says Horowitz. “Emilie [de Ravin] is fantastic, doing some of her best work that we’ve ever seen.”

I think that Belle is going on a mission to save Rumple, who might’ve ended up in Oz as the WWW’s prisoner after he stabbed Malcolm. This would cast Belle in the spotlight as a hero, which she is after she saved her people and then again saved Prince Philip. While this spoiler is frustratingly cryptic, I’m thinking this could mean something very positive for the future of Rumbelle. If I had to wager, I’d say that Rumbelle is a top contender for am engagement and/or wedding by the end of S3.

WHY IS THE WITCH WICKED? With the introduction of Lost alum Rebecca Mader’s emerald enchantress, expect “lots of backstory” on the spring season’s Big Bad. “Whether that unfolds in Storybrooke, the Enchanted Forest or Oz — or all three — remains to be seen,” Horowitz teases. (And no, this Wicked Witch is not also known as either Miss Gulch, Elphaba or any other familiar name, but one of Once’s own creation a la the Evil Queen’s mum Cora.)

I think we’re going to get a glimpse of all three worlds: EF, SB, and Oz, (plus NYC in 3×12). I think we’ll mostly get flashbacks of EF of the past year. Then we’ll zoom to the present-day SB with side-ways parallel to Oz. I’m not too surprised that WWW isn’t named Elphaba or Theodora, since I think Once likes to put its own spin on things.

IS THERE A REGINA/WICKED WITCH RIVALRY? Does a dwarf carry a pick axe? Kitsis trumpets the showdown between sorceresses thusly: “Wicked versus Evil! That’s the second half of our season.”

Sounds like a rivalry of WickedSisters to me!

This should be amazing, I just hope it doesn’t result in another big setback for Regina. She made such great strides with her redemption in 311, and while I don’t want her to ever completely lose the EQ edge, I hope she doesn’t completely revert. I guess that might be how Robin ties into it, she’s gotta be evil to go after WW, but Robin’s there encouraging her better side as well.

I think Robin Hood being in Regina’s life will help to keep Regina on the road to redemption. She might relapse some, but I don’t think she’ll ever again threaten Emma, Snow or Charming. She’s learned she can co-exist with them. Now, Regina’s EvilQueen -ness is directed at her real enemy: the WWW.

PriceofMagic wrote:  “Emma’s not easily charmed by him in the real world,” Kitsis reports. “I’ll just say that!” Hmmmmm? Interesting choice of words by Eddy. Could this mean that the CaptainSwan stuff in Neverland only happened because they were in Neverland?

Well, that is very interesting; I’m guessing CS fans aren’t too happy about this spoiler. Remember? What happens in Vegas  Neverland stays there, but when you get back to reality, you see things more clearly. We’d already hypothesized based on spoiler images that a) Emma calls the cops on Hook b) Hook ends up in jail and c) it’s the dreamcatcher and a potion, not a TLK from Hook, that jog Emma’s memories. Sounds like we are pretty correct so far in our theorizing!

“In Emma’s current mind. the last time she saw Neal, that guy f—ing let her go to jail,” Kitsis points out. “She doesn’t have the benefit of re-meeting him in New York.”

In other words, Emma and Neal meeting again in Manhattan served a very important purpose in the sense that as soon as she saw him again, she realized she’d never stopped loving him. Additionally, Emma had the benefit of hearing Neal’s true rationale for having left her, which was to get her home. Now that she has no memory of her parents, she doesn’t realize the self-sacrifice that Neal made for her. Also, Emma, cursed to forget the past few years, doesn’t recall Neal expressing his regret or offering a heartfelt apology to her. True, she has Henry now, but she still wonders why he chose to let her go. So while it’s true that if cursed Emma met him now, she’d be angry at him as she was in “Manhattan” she wouldn’t have the benefit of knowing about her parents, Rumplestiltskin, or the curse. Nevertheless, once Emma remembers who she is by 3×12 or 3×13, then I predict the Swanfire reunion will in fact be a happy one.

kfchimera wrote:  While it wasn’t rah rah Neal’s Emma’s love or anything, it WAS very in line with things we said.  Emma’s memories are re-set to how she felt, and the way the article quoted Eddy it made it sound to me like the time from Manhattan on were positive experiences she had with Neal.  So there’s that.  She learned a lot that helped her to see him in a new light, but even with it gone I think her feelings for him are still going to be there and while it seems like they’re setting up another unhappy reunion….surprise, she’ll get her memories back before then so this time we get a happy reunion.

I agree that while the spoiler makes it seem like Emma won’t remember meeting Neal again and therefore it seems like her reunion wouldn’t be a happy one, we already know better from spoiler images. Emma will in fact end up remembering due to the Blue Fairy’s potion. Ergo, Emma won’t only remember Neal and the true reason he left her, but she’ll also be more inclined to empathize with him now that she likewise had to walk away from her family and the man she loves due to another dark curse for Henry’s sake.

Hallelujah for this spoiler! It’s just as we SF fans have been saying: Neal didn’t come to Emma, not because he did’t want to, but because he’s for some reason unable to do so. I was getting so sick and tired of CS fans gloating that Hook is the one instead of Neal to visit Emma. It’s nice to hear Eddy Kitsis himself say there is a very good reason why Neal didn’t come in person. And I’m thinking that reason has something to do with Oz, the WWW, and/or Rumple.

RumplesGirl wrote: with the latest TVLine spoiler, I think Neal is on the gurney. I think the WWW hurt him somehow and that’s who we see in the hospital.

I think that is a very realistic possibility. What if the WWW targets Neal because she somehow magically knows he is Emma’s true love? Maybe the WWW doesn’t want Emma to return, because she fears Emma’s powers as the Savior, and so she either captures and/or injures Neal in an effort to thwart Emma getting her memories back. Yet, the WWW knows Hook’s kiss would not be True Love, so she doesn’t target him; yet, the BF is one step ahead and so she gives Hook the potion made from Pinocchio’s hair, just in case he’s unable to awaken Emma (which it seems he is unable to do by himself

Mary and Matthew’s story also had a tragic end slurpeez

True, but only because the actor who played Matthew wanted to leave the show. Yet, the point remains that while either of them walked the earth, they couldn’t have really been happy with anybody else.

And then Emma’s voice popped in my head. “I never stopped loving him.” Even before Manhattan, she felt that way. Before Henry finding her. Before SB. She never stopped loving him. That part wasn’t erased. Though the pain, through the confusion, through the not understanding. She never stopped loving him. As confusing as it was for her, she never stopped loving him. There was no Manhattan or SSTR, but there was also no Beanstalk, no confusing NL, and no CS Kiss. There was only Tallahassee. That’s the only thing that is left in her head. Here and Now. So while she’s lost some bittersweet good SF memories, she’s also lost ALL of the confusing CS ones. Tallahassee remains.

A thousand times YES! Emma at her very core always has and probably always will love Neal. Even though it’s true that a person can learn to love again, as Robin Hood and Regina would seem to demonstrate, Emma is in a unique position on this show. Not only doesn’t she remember Hook, but even when Emma was in her right mind, she’d never stopped loving Neal! The man Emma truly loves (Eddy Kitsis’ words) lives and loves her, too.

If you’re fans of Downton Abbey, as I am, then you may have spotted an interesting, though unintentional, parallel between Matthew/Mary/Lavinia and Emma/Neal/Hook/Tamara. In this case, Mary/Matthew and Emma/Neal are meant-to-be while Hook/Tamara/Lavinia are the obstacles to their being together. I’ll black-it out here in case you haven’t seen that show but want to in the future. The first time Matthew proposed to Mary, she hesitated too long and he took it back just as WWI broke out. Mary immediately regretted her hesitation and realized she was deeply in love with Matthew, but it seemed too late, because Matthew returned from the war engaged to another woman, Lavinia. He was set to marry her, but then through a series of twists and turns, he ended kissing Mary while still engaged to Lavinia, who witnessed the kiss. She wasn’t resentful, just heartbroken, as realized that she could never really compete with Matthew’s first love, Mary. Lavinia died of the Spanish Flu, but also in part because of a broken heart. Matthew rejected the notion of being happy with Mary, saying they were “doomed” or “cursed” not to be happy. Yet, later, Matthew came to his senses as he realized that Lavinia wouldn’t have wanted him to remain unhappy. So, for a second time, Matthew proposed to Mary, who accepts. This time, : “I would never be happy with anyone else as long as you walk the earth.”

But would they fake-out-death Neal again? They did it once….

NO! I don’t like the sounds of this idea at all. It’s far too dark and even though I don’t think Hook always acts honorably, I don’t think he’s going to murder Neal. Even though Hook sees Neal as a contender, Colin O’Donoghue has still said on the record that Hook loves Bae like a son, deep down. I will continue to hope that the completion of Hook’s redemption arc will be him eventually doing the unselfish thing of helping Neal and Emma reunite.

Nealfire has been through so much sacrifice. Along with Emma, he most deserves a shot at a happy ending.

All of this green editing is really making me think of Oz. Maybe Neal goes there to search for his papa.
