ParticipantGetting back to Regina for a minute, if Emma and Henry do end up back in SB, would Regina still have to stay away from him? Would there be some magical barrier thing, like the town line, where if you got too close, bad things happen? A situation like that could explain Regina seemingly being angry and throwing stuff in that scene with Emma in her office.
I wonder if this third curse from the WWW actually makes the conditions of the old curse void, meaning Regina can see Henry again.

ParticipantImma send Hook a copy of He’s Just Not That Into You for Christmas, (the book, not the movie, because I don’t want him getting distracted when he sees Snow White), and hope he gets the hint and gets over himself and moves onto something bigger and better in the new year.
Funny, given the fact that Ginny Goodwin starred in the film based on that book! Maybe Snow can suggest is as easy-reading for Hook when they get back to SB.

ParticipantDo you think Emma has her baby blanket? Could that be her talisman?
I think she no longer has her baby blanket or her swan pendant. I think her talisman is the dreamcatcher form the 3×12 promo.

ParticipantReposting because of hope that it isn’t over for Emma and Neal! This is the writers’ way of assuring us that Emma and Neal’s story is far from over! From Tumblr

ParticipantHi. I read your essay and agree with quite a bit. I ship CS… so obviously not all of it. lol. I am NOT Anti Neal. I like Neal. And I do not ship all available characters with somebody to just have somebody. I didnt ship Emma with anyone until Hook. Not here to debate that anyway – just didnt want you to think i was Anti Neal. But I agree that OUAT is a big stretch from the literary Hook.
It’s not my essay, just one I read on Tumblr and found interesting. It’s nice to see someone who ships CS who doesn’t hate Neal. Also, I agree that while OUAT is known for its twists, their version of Hook has almost become unrecognizable from J.M. Barrie’s original character. I’d rather see Hook be at least somewhat dangerous and have way more interactions with Peter Pan! We never found out exactly what “dirty work” Hook did for Peter Pan which was mentioned in 3×5 but never expanded upon. As someone who grew up loving that story, I’m sad that Once’s version seem to lack very little, if any, consistency with the original story. I’m not even sure I liked this dark version of Neverland or Peter Pan. I’ll never again think of him as an adventurous little boy but as a devious villain. It’s just tarnished this beloved childhood story for me. The only character from Neverland whom I’ve really enjoyed is Tinkerbell.
And you’re right – he is more Jack Sparrow than Hook. And I have also brought up on CS’s thread that he does get his butt handed to him way too often to be Hook… its kind of insulting. I have read that Hook was supposed to be utterly ruthless and way scary… and while yes it would detract from their whole Villains and Redemption theme for S3 I would think that a military trained naval officer turned pirate who survived for 300 years in hostile territory with 1 hand and a bunch of ruthless alliances would learn how to defend himself from a librarian and fairy… at least. For goodness sake’s the real Hook would be utterly ashamed.
I agree. I love Colin as an actor, and he does the best with what he’s given. Yet, in my opinion, this OUAT version of Hook is too in love with the floor not to be knocked down. 🙂 He reminds me a bit of Jack Sparrow and his tipsy stumbling from drinking too much rum (and I love Jack so that’s not a put down just an observation).
That being said… I do still like Colin’s Hook but I think you have a lot of good points on how OUAT has deviated quite a bit from the book. I’m just glad he didnt turn out with the huge mustache, perm, and feathered hat from Disney. he he
You and me both though it would be funny to see 🙂

Participant*sigh* Some CS fans are declaring the triangle is “dead.” I posted my reply in the CSF thread. As much as I dislike the idea of Hook as a match for Emma, if they are meant to be together (which I highly doubt), then I’d rather it’d have just been conclusively shown in 3×11! Instead, we were pretty much left with a are-they-or-aren’t-they-true-love kiss where Emma, cursed not to remember her old life, kneed Hook in the nuts. We also got a clip of the dreamcatcher in the 3×12 promo, which is a huge SwanFire symbol, which could be her talisman and actually how Emma will remember who she really is. Neal pledged “this isn’t over. I’ll see both of you again.” If the writers really wanted to show with absolute clarity which suitor Emma would pick, if either, then I think they would have made it painstakingly obvious using some plot device rather than just drag it out needlessly.
