ParticipantYes. Basically. Leave his home and everything he knows so his father can become the man he was again – nope. Instead he’s lost and his father becomes even more of a monster for the next 300 years terrorizing a hell of a lot more people. Sacrifice himself for the Darlings. Nope. They all got abducted and used by Pan anyway. Leave Emma so she can break the curse and find her parents. Nope. She lost them anyway.
Gaaaaah! And just when I’d thought I’d recovered. Nope! This is the story of how my heart shattered into a million pieces! *ugly crying!*

Anyone who says Neal isn’t heartbroken doesn’t understand the human condition. On the inside, Neal is sobbing from the pain of what just transpired. In the span of 24 hours, he went from being hopeful for the future to having lost his father, his son, and the love of his life. *sobbing!*

Participantastrawoid wrote: Okay time for some crack theories. Going of of what was said here that maybe Neal has a plan. Now this way left field and may not be possible but what if during that time between Regina telling them that they’d all go back to FTL and seeing Emma and Henry off at the border, Neal ran into Regina’s office and got a piece of the magic bean plant to plant them again in FTL? I don’t know how he knows it was there (in Regina’s office) or if it is still viable but just what if?
I like it. He was the last person in FTL afterall
O__O That thought hadn’t even occurred to me! I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if it’s really Neal who sent Hook in his place, because he believes Emma made her choice when she didn’t show up for lunch at Granny’s in 3×10. Yet, Neal probably has some kind of plan to help reunite Emma and her parents. After all, this is the son of Rumplestiltskin, the mastermind behind the dark curse. And Neal is the one who came up with the plan of capturing the Shadow in NL to get home! If anyone can come up with a plan to reunite Emma with her family, it’s Neal! And when Emma finally remembers Neal and the sacrifices he made for her and Henry, she’ll be overcome with gratitude and appreciation for this wonderful, selfless, and giving man who would give his life just to see her and his son happy, even if it’s without him. He would rather see Emma happy with Hook but with her parents than for Emma not to know who she really is. Neal loves her and always will! *Believe in second chances!* *SF family feels!*

ParticipantTo be fair to Hook, humour can be a coping mechanism in depressing situations. The goodbye scene was the one time where I felt Hook was being genuine and wasn’t trying to seduce Emma. He has feelings for her and was saying goodbye. Also Hook trying TLK and it not working on Emma, doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Since we’ve seen both Charming and Rumple try TLK on their respective true loves at one point and it didn’t work. Because this post sounds a little too pro-CS, I would just like to point out that I don’t think CS would work out long term.
I was also okay with the parting scene between Hook and Emma. I didn’t mind that Hook tried to make light of a very tragic situation or that he expressed how he’d think of her each days. I think that scene was interesting because Emma wasn’t even going to say goodbye to Hook until her sought her out. It gives me the impression it’s very one-sided at the moment, whereas Emma did intentionally say goodbye to Neal. To me that read as Emma putting Neal up high on her priority list of who to say goodbye to, whereas with Hook, Emma wasn’t even going to wave to him? Hook might as well be Archie or the Blue Fairy in terms of meaning something to Emma (as in not very much). Hook just seemed way more into Emma than she was into him.

ParticipantI have a heavy heart having watched 3×11 again. My heart broke so many times all over again. It’s harder being the audience and knowing what Emma gave up when she left SB. At least Emma got cursed with good memories of a life spent with her son. What do we get? The knowledge of what Emma and Neal lost: each other and their parents. It makes the ending of “Save Henry” that much more unbearable to re-watch of Emma and Neal finding their parents, their son and each other only to have it all stripped away again (except at least Emma gets to have Henry this time). Oh gosh the feels! Emma and Neal are both lost children again. *crying!* From Tumblr

ParticipantI’ve totally hijacked this thread! HAHAHAHAHA! 🙂 Just let me know if you all want me to stop posting stuff. 😛
Keep it coming! We’ve got 80-odd days until we see SF on our TV screens again. We need all the cheer we can get! #HopeForSwanFire
Also, I just reread on Tumblr the parting words that Snow gave her daughter:
Snow: “Happy endings aren’t always what we think they will be. Look around you… You’ve touched the lives of everyone here.”
Emma: “But we’re family.”
Snow: “Yes, and we always will be. You gave us that. It’s time for you to believe in yourself, Emma. It’s time for you to find hope.”Remember Snow’s earlier words to Emma too about hope in 3×6. “Happy endings start with hope.” She also told Emma that life is full of happy moments in 3×10. In both instances, Snow White was speaking in reference to Neal. Emma’s hope starts with her believing in even the possibility of a happy ending. And then we had Rumple’s last words to his son of discovering happiness, just not with him. In other words, both Snow and Rumple’s parting words to their children was to hold onto hope, which is hope for finding a happy ending together! I wish someone talented with making GIFs could make one of Snow telling her daughter to hang onto hope on the one hand, and Rumple doing the same for Baelfire. Pretty please? Can someone on here make that happen? 😀
ETA: I found the GIFs, just from different sources:

ParticipantI think it was all about wording. Regina didn’t say that history would rewrite itself or anything like that but that it would be AS IF the dark curse never happened, in that SB will NOW cease to exist.
So, curse actually happened, Emma actually met and fell in love with Neal, and Emma actually gave birth to Henry. She just doesn’t know the real whys or hows of how it all happened. Okay, thanks for clearing that up. I thought so, but just wanted to make sure.
Just remember folks that even though Emma doesn’t remember her reunion with Neal and know why he left all those years ago, it won’t change the fact that the first time she sees him again (if she doesn’t remember by that point), she’ll realize (again) she never stopped loving him.
YES! History will repeat itself! Despite Hook’s best attempts to woo Emma, she’ll always love Neal! That is why CS can only happen whenever Neal is not in the picture. No matter the obstacles, Neal and Emma will always find one another. But based on the new footage of the dreamcatcher, I’d say that Emma realizes very quickly that Neal is not just the loser who left her, but the love of her life who sacrificed his own happy ending for her and their son!
Emma, oblivious in her fake memories and what has transpired, still loves Neal. She just doesn’t realize it yet.
We get to see it again, and again, and again. “If two people are meant to be together, they’ll find a way,” said Mary Margaret in S1!

ParticipantThought I love Robbie Kay as an actor and think he did a lovely job playing such a devious character, I will not mourn the passing of Peter Pan. He was a horrible father who had no redeemable qualities in the end.

any idea on what she is holding here?
No idea, but she’s saying, “That’s not possible,” as she’s looking at it.
I think Emma is looking at the scroll on which the original curse was written and saying it’s not possible for it to exist since Regina magically destroyed it. At this point, I think Emma has her memories back and she’s wondering how on Earth the curse could have been enacted for a third time! This time, I think the Wicked Witch of the West is behind it.
