Participantkfchimera wrote: That said, this scene is full of awkward and that’s the point. I don’t think Hook was gloating. He’s gloated before and he is really obnoxious doing it. Here he had a subtle tone, because I think he really did think Neal knew and was trying to say he’s glad there’s no hard feelings over it all.
While I don’t think Hook was outright gloating, I think Hook was trying to gently state where he thinks things stand with Emma by saying it first to Neal. While Hook may have thought Neal was in the dark about Hook and Emma kissing, by thanking Neal for taking the news so well, Hook is tacitly laying a claim, even though Hook knows Emma loves Neal, according to Peter Pan. Hook overheard Neal tell Emma that he’d never stop fighting for her, therefore, Hook’s aim is to let Neal know that he has competition where Emma is concerned. Hook is playing the part of a gentleman, but is really trying to undercut Neal for the sake of getting the girl.
For example, in Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, Lucy Steele is the first to let the protagonist, Elinor Dashwood, know about her secret engagement to Edward Ferras. Lucy astutely and correctly assumes that Edward and Elinor may have formed an attachment to one another, and Lucy sees Elinor as competition. By making Elinor her confidant, Lucy paints Elinor into a corner, thereby immobilizing Elinor from sharing her true feelings for Edward with even her own sister, Marianne. Elinor must bide her time until Lucy reveals the kind of woman she really is is by calling off her engagement to Edward after he is cut out of his mother’s will in favor of Edward’s brother, Robert, who is now the heir.
I think Hook could likewise be infringing upon Neal by making him feel like Hook now has some “understanding” with Emma such that Neal will look like a jealous ex if he lets Emma know how it makes him feel. CS fans would be sure to complain that Neal has no right to voice his jealousy since Emma is not his girlfriend. I think Neal’s reaction was mature and reasoned, if not heartbreaking. Neal needs to hear from Emma her wishes and desires before he makes a blunder of pushing for too much from a woman who must make up her mind. And as Neal aptly said, he and Emma have better things to worry about than who kissed whom when their son’s life is at stake!
kfchimera wrote: He called the kiss a “dalliance” so at least outwardly he wasn’t claiming it was meaningful to Emma. Though the fact Emma did not tell Neal, well, that might make Hook and the CS shippers of course conclude that Emma did feel the kiss meant something. Then again–nothing with her means something, right?
Emma might not feel the need to tell Neal about the kiss with Hook for the simple reason that she wants to spare him unnecessary hurt, especially if that kiss really was just a heat-of-the-moment thing. Emma has no wish to cause Neal additional pain right now, especially after she just told him her darkest secret. Saying to Neal that she just kissed Hook would be like rubbing salt in a fresh wound. Plus, it’s not as if Emma said she loves Hook, even if she does care about him. In Emma’s eyes, it was a one-time thing. She just said she loves Neal, and probably always will. So, while CS fans will probably read into Emma’s omission that she’s covering up her secret love for Hook, I think she’s simply not wishing to cause even more pain to Neal, whom she loves.
From the ABC Recap of 3×7:”On the way, Emma is pleasantly surprised at the good form Hook has shown. It’s all because he wants to win her heart without any trickery. He lets Emma know she will eventually have to choose between him and Neal….. Emma reads them the riot act for fighting over her. She vows that the only person she will ever choose is Henry.
It sounds like Hook will straight up tell Emma she must eventually make a decision about him or Neal. Talk about putting pressure on her! Here she and Neal are fighting to save their son’s life, and Hook has the nerve to give Emma an ultimatum, him or Neal? To use Emma’s words, “Now is not the time”! CS fans complained when Neal said he’d never stop fighting for her, and here Hook is doing the same thing! Also, has Hook learned *nothing* in the past 300 years? Hook seduced Bae’s mommy only to now try and seduce the mother of Neal’s child right from under his nose, despite him knowing that Neal loves this woman? I was hoping Hook would do the honorable thing and at least give Emma the space she needs right now. I thought he’d want to do right by Neal.
At least Neal realizes that Emma doesn’t owe him anything after how he hurt her, and yet Hook, who also left Emma imprisoned in EF, thinks one kiss and suddenly Emma must chose between him and Neal. Excuse me? But where does Hook get off feeling like Emma must do anything right now except save her son’s life? Hook saying she must choose makes it sound like he’s only helping her save Henry to get something out of it for himself, just like he said he only saved her father’s life for Emma. And then he expected a kiss as some sort of token of gratitude? Ugh! At least Neal isn’t just helping save Henry because of Emma; Neal is fighting for his own son, whom he actually loves in and of himself, regardless of his love for Emma.
I’m actually glad that Emma reads both men the riot act by saying she’ll only ever choose Henry! That is how it should be! Emma will only ever choose the man who really has her son’s best interests at heart, and in my estimation, that man is Henry’s father! Neal would rather sacrifice his own life for his son then leave his son without his mother. Neal would do anything for Henry, even if that meant sacrificing his chance to be with Emma, just as we saw him do in 2×21 when he let go of her so Henry wouldn’t have to grow up an orphan.

ParticipantZombie girl? Please, no zombie Belle 🙁 That would be horrendous.
Probably, Emilie was just toking about because she was so tired she was like a walking zombie.

ParticipantI saw this Gif set on Tumblr and thought how well it demonstrates that Neal’s choice was one of sacrifice, one which is common on this show:
love is sacrifice

ParticipantIf both Hook and Neal have been to the Dark Hollow before, did they go together? Or separately and to what end? We know that they don’t actually use a shadow to get back to SB because the JR makes it back to SB at the docks.
I’m pretty sure that Hook has never been to Dark Hollow since he said, “even I managed to avoid it.”

ParticipantThe question is, what’s inside? In the myth, Pandora opened her now famous box and all the evil within was let out, but she closed it before the final thing could leave: Hope. If the box was opened once before then there shouldn’t be anything inside except hope. But what if they want to capture Pan’s shadow and put it inside the box?
The once caption says: “Legend says that it contains the world’s darkest evil.” So, what constitutes the world’s darkest evil? Could it be absence of hope? Unbelief? What?

ParticipantIf only we had some pixie dust!
I’d like to think that the pixie-dust-showing-your-soulmate motif could’ve been introduced not just for Regina but also for Emma. There was a spoiler for 3×7 that Tinkerbell may play a role in the CSF drama currently unfolding. While Tinkerbell doesn’t currently have any more pixie dust, Peter Pan probably does. We’ve also seen that spoiler-ish image Adam Horowitz posted on Twitter of Rose Mciver joining Jennifer Morrison and MRJ with her arms, which could perhaps be a hint Tink could act as a bridge between Emma and Neal.

Participantwhy are we getting a behind the scenes pic of Reginas masoleum? What kind of a scene did they film there? I’m worried. Did someone else die.
I don’t think so. Remember, she keeps her heart vault down there as well as her secrect chambers filled with magical items. They might need someone’s heart or a potion. Also, someone could be hiding down there.

ParticipantThere is a new TV Guide article which mentions J-Mo’s and MRJ’s perspective on SF as they stand currently:
“I love what [executive producers] Adam [Horowitz] and Eddy [Kitsis] did with her for that because I think it’s a very human reaction to him being back,” Morrison says. “You can fantasize that someone will say, ‘Oh, I love you, it’s great, it’s wonderful, it’s all fine now.’ But in reality, she spent 10 years thinking that he not only abandoned her in some way, but it seemed like he maliciously set her up. Ten years is a long time to suffer through that belief. Also, he found out that the curse was broken and could have come after her and still didn’t, so that’s the second betrayal she’s aware of. There’s so much for them to work through and so much that hasn’t been dealt with. There’s a tremendous amount of baggage there.”
I think Jennifer Morrison is saying pretty much what we’ve been saying that while Emma loves Neal, she has a lot to deal with right now: saving Henry, helping find a way to get Charming home, getting everyone home, defeating PP and now dealing with two men who’ve made their intetions be known. The poor girl is in a mess and emtionally fragile from NL playing mind-games. She feels like an unloved orophan whose mother jsut said she wants a replacement baby. Talk about struggling with her own abandoment issues from what her parents did to her. She has a lot to work through about her own past to realize she has a lot of false beliefs about Neal: she thought he left her becasue he didn’t love her, only now to relazie he never wanted to leave her in the first place and that he never stopped loving her. That is a lot to unpack, all while being hounded by a malevolent munchkin who wants to tear her family apart and kidnap her son.
For now, the duo will be focused on the mission at hand, pushing their feelings aside for the greater good of saving Henry. “We’re both aware that there’s work to be done,” Raymond-James says. “But there’s also the mission that needs to be accomplished. That supersedes everything.” But there could be jealousy in store once Neal does find out about Hook’s true feelings for Emma. “No one wants to hear that,” he says. “But listen, I don’t own Emma, and she doesn’t owe me anything. There’s not really time to process all of it because there’s so much happening.”
I think MRJ really understands the mindset of Neal and where he is coming from. Neal has acknowledge he messed up by not going after Emma, and he’s admitted that’s his biggest regret. So, as Neal told Emma in 3×6, she doesn’t ever need to apologize to him for feeling hurt after what he did to her. Nevertheless, Emma realizes she is not the only one who was hurt by the curse keeping them apart. She said “after all the pain we’ve been through,” thereby acknowledging Neal was just as much a vicimt of his father’s curse as she was. I suspect the more they spend time together, the more this will come to light.
