But did King George’s wife actually die? As far as I know it was something to do with her being cursed to be infertile and either getting mad or isolated… Or am I remembering it wrong?
She was cursed and could not have children…yes..that’s why they got PC’s twin from Ruth through a deal with Rumple…but she at some point she died…we have yet to see her in the show but she was definitely not around when we first meet the real James and he is killed. Like I said it’s just a theory I’ve heard floating around…lot of people think the kid looks a lot like a young Josh Dallas.
I have a different theory. I don’t think King George’s wife died. I think he was married to CORA at one point. After their marriage, she purposefully drank the potion so she’d be barren and so escape giving Rumple her first-born child. When the king learned this, he divorced her quietly, and she later married Henry Sr.

Excellent point! They’d hardly get an American kid to fake a Brit accent. Adult actors have enough trouble with that, so they couldn’t expect a kid to be able to master it. I actually think he looks more like Colin than he does Josh, but given the accent thing, I’d say he’s gotta be a young James and/or Charming.
Didn’t know about the nationalities of Benjamin Stockham and John Pyper-Ferguson, but that makes me even more convinced that it’s not Hook but most likely Prince James and King George because they would have likely found a younger actor that sounded like Colin O’Donoghue if it were a younger Hook.
I still want to cling to the theory that “Owen” could be a younger Hook. Who says American kids can’t perform with British accents? Lindsay Lohan did a wonderful English accent in the 1998 version of The Parent Trap.
My other theory is that “Owen” could be a young huntsman, before he lost his family to be raised by wolves. We know that we’re going to see Jamie Dornan on set again in the same episode. 😀

I’m hoping for that too! Surely they didn’t give Hook, a man of the sea, a mundane name like Jones without there being a reason for it, right? And now if this is PapaHook who’s mourning the loss of his love, that totally ties in with the Davy from the Pirates movies.
Was just reading this on wikipedia…
In J. M. Barrie’s 1904 play and 1911 novel Peter and Wendy, Captain Hook sings a song:
Yo ho, yo ho, the pirate life,
The flag o’ skull and bones,
A merry hour, a hempen rope,
And hey for Davy Jones.
—J. M. Barrie…so there’s already a tiny little connection there. Wouldn’t be surprised if K&H took that and ran with it.
😯
😀Yes, great find! Now, I really want Davv Jones to be Hook’s daddy!

ParticipantSaw this interview on Tumblr:
Translation made by myself of an interview of Colin O’Donoghue to a French TV Show magazine about his character Captain Hook.
Do you know how Emma and Hook’s relationship will evolve ?
I think that Hook is sincerely attracted to Emma. She has a big personality and an iron will which can only seduce him. They feel a sort of mutual respect because they are alike in many aspects. Not sure that their relations will become romantic however, because for now, Emma has mostly the habit of tying me down to what she can find to prevent me from following her. I spent a big part of my time on the show tied down by the way. Personally, I don’t see any problem in that. Anyway, Hook is pretty good at getting himself out of any situation, even the most dangerous. Were you expecting such an enthusiastic reaction from fans?
No, I was really surprised. I wasn’t expecting myself to start a hysteria on the internet. My family is teasing me a lot and it makes my wife laugh a lot too. [laughs] It’s really weird. I had never been associated to a project that triggered so many reactions so it’s all very new for me. And the guys from my rock band find this hilarious. [NDLR: he is the guitarist in the Irish group The Enemies]How would you describe your character?
Hook is a pirate and he isn’t someone you can easily trust. He is capable of lying and cheating to get what he wants. But he was sincerely in love with Rumplestiltskin’s wife and his desire for revenge is sincere. You can even say that Hook is particularly brave, because you need to be brave or crazy to pick an enemy as powerful as Rumplestiltskin. But is Hook a villain or a hero?
Since he is teaming up with Cora, I’d tend to say that he is a villain. He is obsessed with his desire for vengeance. So anyone who will be on his path will be in danger. He is very selfish because he only thinks about killing Rumplestiltskin and he would be very capable of sacrificing the entirety of Storybrooke to achieve his goal. Even Emma would not be able to stop him. She is entirely right to not trust him. Frankly, he does not deserve it… At least, not at this point of the story. For now, he is a sociopath and a manipulator, he has no loyalty except towards himself. With his pedigree (I’m supposing they mean his backstory), why are fans so seduced by the character?
Because people love anti-heroes, characters à la Han Solo capable of doing the good thing at the last moment. And also, thanks to Johnny Depp, the entire world has a thing for pirates. And let’s not forget that Hook is a big seducer. He is a sort of very sexy Don Juan who does not hesitate to use his charm to get what he wants. But he is incapable of having a real relation with a woman since he lost the one he loved. It’s very romantic, in a certain aspect…Did you have your word regarding the look of your character?
No, I let the costumers and the producers decide. At some point there were talks about me wearing a wig, because pirates often have long hair in movies. Finally, they gave up on that idea. However I had to get used to putting eyeliner on. But the hardest is to wear a hook and to not be able to use my left hand. Besides, I almost blinded myself several times. Thankfully the hook is not really sharp or I would have already lost an eye. Perfect.
I wonder if the plot of the episode is going to be Regina going from person to person, making sure they’ll all cursed. lol. Or maybe it’s a flashback over a long time. Like the first day, the first year, year 10 when she deicdes to get Henry, all leading up to notcing that Henry has run away, calling Graham over to her house and then enter Emma Swan in her yellow bug.I’ve been wondering along these lines as well when I saw it was 1983…if it would be over a longer period of time and include Henry’s adoption or if this was just isolated at the very beginning of the curse.
Looking at the eps leading up to it, we have…
Manhattan – Nealfire being found, which will include Henry meeting his father.
The Queen is Dead – Snow losing her mother.
Miller’s Daughter – Cora’s history most likely including Regina’s birth.
They’ll be rocking the parent/child theme pretty hardcore for a few eps there, so it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s all a build up to them showing how Regina got Henry. That is a very good theory. Season 2 will answer most of the major questions that we’ve been asking since S1. Now, Eddy and Adam are throwing answers at us left and right. Since we’ll be learning answers in such a short span of time, I think they must planning to take the show in an entire new direction at the end of S2 and leading up to S3!

Makes me wonder how the Owen/Ben father comforting son over loss of his mother fits into all this (it is this episode isn’t it?)..I mean they do like to do parallels.
It’s been speculated on other threads that “Owen” could be a young Hook. Also, I wonder if “Owen” could be a young huntsman and Ben his father since Jamie Dornan is on set.

I know nothing about this episode, so this is pure, “uneducated speculation.” 😉
From the title, “Welcome to Storybrooke,” I’m thinking this could be one of two things: either we see Storybrooke’s creation and early years, or else others start coming to Storybrooke.
I’d say go with your first instinct.

ParticipantThere’s another spoiler that there will be flashbacks with a kid who is presumed to be a younger-looking Henry! So, we will quite likely get to see Regina and a young Henry interact before Emma arrived in SB! 😮

I don’t think we’ll see time travel in this episode. Rather, we could get to see various ‘glimpses’ of SB at different time intervals: when the curse first brought everyone there, when Regina adopted Henry, a few years later as Henry was growing up before Emma arrived, and of course, present-day, post-curse SB.

Either Regina got Henry back in present-day SB or it could be a SB flashback. Yet at the rate Jared Gilmore is growing, it will be hard to pull off a SB flashback in which Henry looks younger than he did in the pilot. My money is on a current-day situation in which Regina and Cora use magic to get Henry back."That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. I’d only accept Rumpel as Regina’s father if he was unaware of her true parentage. I don’t believe for a second that Rumpel would sacrifice his own daughter’s innocence for the sake of the curse. I just don’t buy it.
This! Also, given Rumple’s considerable skillz, and the fact that Cora wasn’t at the height of her power yet back then, I don’t buy that she’d be able to fool him and fake a magical paternity test. So if they want to go this route and have me believe it, they’d better have a super cool trick up their sleeves.
I agree. I think this has been a MASSIVE red herring on the part of H and K and the other writers to make us think Regina and Rumple are related, but while I’m willing to concede that Henry Sr may not be Regina’s father, it can’t be Rumple for all the reasons people have said. Plus, my favorite reason: it would make the already messed up family tree even more complicated and messed up
Yeah, I think Rumple KNOWINGLY being Regina’s father is out. It could certainly be red herring. I still think King George was married to Cora once, and that Regina is George’s daughter.

Ooooh. I had thought all last season that this kind of episode would eventually be called for. NEED a title for this, though!!
The title was just announced as “Welcome to Storybrooke” 🙂
Ask and ye shall receive. lol.
Can you post a link for that? I have my phone set to receive tweets from Adam so when he tweets the titles, but I haven’t gotten anything.

YVR shoots has more filming behind the scenes stills, involving a car chase.
😮 I wonder what that could be about? Maybe Jefferson tried to escape, since he had his memories still, but then Regina put him under house arrest for 28 years as punishment.
