For episode #218 of Once Upon a Time, a guest role (preferably with an Asian accent) is being cast: The Healer. He’s 60, mystical, powerful, helpful to those in trouble, and makes predictions that can be difficult to understand.

Since there aren’t many Asians on this show, I'm 100% sure that this will be Mulan's backstory. It has to be.

Perhaps he will be a zen master who teaches Mulan martial arts. Perhaps he is the one who gave her her enchanted sword, whose blade was strong enough to cut through a magic beanstalk.

I love the promo still but wish we didn’t have to wait another 2 weeks for OUAT to return!

Prince James might not have been an “evil twin” but rather might have simply been mislead by King George, just as Lancelot was mislead. Maybe James is just following orders as an officer in the giant wars. I’m sure there are two sides to every story. (Or he might just have been charmed by “Jack” with her uhhhh, shall we say, endowed persona).

“Realizes his destiny…” that’s interesting. Did the Seer predict he would be the Dark One. I was under the impression he didn’t know much about Zozo (sp?) before he decided to take the curse on himself to save Bae.

Perhaps he did not know the specific details of how he became the Dark One or that he would be using dark magic. I wonder if the seer simply told him that he would be the one to put an end to the Ogre Wars…that would open it up to him having a destiny and at the same time leave out all the details of how it would be accomplished.

Then again this may have nothing to do with the Ogre Wars or Bae in the respect of destiny(and the prophecy)…it may have to do with our world and the finale battle. Anyway…I can’t wait for this episode…I will be glued to the tv screen that night.

I think when Rumple “realizes his destiny” could be when Rumple becomes a coward (i.e. when he runs away from the Ogres War). Also, I wonder if the “seer” could be a young Cora. Plus, I love the idea of Hook and Regina being a couple. What do we call them? Evil Hook? Hook Queen? Hooker Queen? 😆

Here’s the guest list for Manhatten. Milha is supposed to be in it, so I think we’ll see flashbacks with Rumple. I like the theory about the prophesy being about Bae. I didn’t see Dylan Schmid listed though. Maybe the producers are keeping him off the guest list on purpose to keep us from saying Neal is Bae.

Since the first two aren’t going to happen, we must see number three. If Emma is to believe Gold, it can’t be just a casual denial and apology for what he said. He will have to prove to her that he is not a threat. Obviously, if Neal turns out to be Bae, that could do it since we know enough about Rumple to know that he would not try to kill his own grandson. Even if Bae is not Neal, the writers could concoct some events that will give Emma the assurance she needs. But it will have to be a powerful assurance.

I think that Emma’s gonna have a very unique experience out in the real world with Rumple. She’s gonna see him as a scared, desperate, mortal man, which is something no other SBer (except Hook) has ever witnessed. In the promo for the next ep there's that bit where they're at airport security, and he looks unsure and unsteady on his feet, and she's behind him, looking concerned, with her arms out as if to catch him if he stumbles. He's a far cry from the menacing Mr Gold and Rumple in that scene.

I think that seeing him in this light and in this environment that’s so strange to him, will give her a whole new understanding of him. She’ll also be able to appreciate and relate to the emotions he’s going through over going to find his long lost son. There’s plenty for them to bond over, and I think that ultimately she’ll realise this…

He’s hurting and heartbroken and not used to people doing things without an ulterior motive. He has no real friends. His threat is the only way he knows to ask, “Hey, will you look after Belle and make sure she’s fine while I’m away.”

    Exactly!

Of course, if Neal ends up being Bae then there’s also the familial connection which would stop him from hurting the Charmings, but even without that added element, I think it’s entirely possible for Emma to come to an understanding that his threat was essentially empty, and just something said out of fear.

Agreed with everything contained here! Any threats or thoughts of retaliation are pretty much dead in the water. Emma was able to see past Captain Hook’s bravado as a cover for his pain in losing Milha. Emma, who also used a wall to keep out pain, will certainly understand that Mr. Gold does the same thing she used to do before MM and Henry made a dent on her heart; Rumple uses a hard exterior to cover up his weaknesses. Just when Mr. Gold was opening his heart again to Belle after being alone, he has just recenlty suffered losing her again. He was absolutely beside himself when he made that hollow, empty threat. Emma isn’t used to seeing Mr. Gold without his game face, but she will soon find out how weak he can be.

Also, without even realizing it, Emma and Rumplestiltksin love the same man, Baelfire, and have both been searching for him. Now they’re going on a quest together to find their beloved Bae. Something tells me Emma and Mr. Gold will discover how much they share in common and bond a lot in this trip. Also, if Nealfire and Emma were ever to get married, then Emma’s father-in-law would be Rumplestiltskin. Mr. Gold is most likely already the grandfather of her child, Henry. If Emma can learn to trust Regina with Henry, something tells me she’ll learn to let Rumple into his life, too.

Great question. Is Rumple even in town?? This episode takes place so soon after Manhattan that I was surprised Rumple, Emma, and hopefully Nealfire were in SB so quickly.

I think they are because Emma and Neal are on the scene, so I wonder where Mr. Gold is 😕

I think Mr. Gold could be keeping Henry safe from Regina/Cora in an undisclosed place.

The character description would certainly fit with Hook. If Killian lost his mother, that adds a whole new dimension to him having played a role in Bae losing his mother too. This makes me hope even more that Hook and Bae met in Neverland.

Yes, that would certainly add some deeper layers to Hook’s story and his rivalry with Peter Pan (especially if Bae is indeed Peter).

The little boy who was cast as “Owen” is really adorable with those piercing blue eyes. I could definitely see him as a young Killian. I wonder if we’ll get to see Killian Jones’ dad be Davey Jones! Perhaps pirating is a family business. The casting call for the father of “Owen” is:

Ben, a 40-year-old, kind widower who is trying to help his son deal with the loss of his mother.

While the description doesn’t sound very fierce, perhaps “Ben” resorted to pirating after losing his wife to help take his mind and his son’s off of their grief.

The casting call for Owen is:

Owen, a precocious, strong-willed kid who isn’t afraid to speak his mind — but his free-spirited, lively personality is all a facade, as he’s secretly dealing with the tragic death of his mother.

That sounds a lot like adult Killian Jones, who is constantly making snarky remarks towards women and using his bravado to cover up the fact that he lost his true love, Milha, at the hands of his arch enemy, Rumplestiltskin. This could be where Killian learned to cover up his emotions, by making jokes as a facad for his grief over his mother. It’s interesting that Emma, who also used to hide behind a wall to protect her vulnerable, orphan self, saw right through Hook and vice-versa.

There is a similar thread where some of the translation and its meaning have been explored, but I have yet to see a full translation: https://oncepodcast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=2579
