Participant‘Once Upon A Time’s’ Jennifer Morrison & Lana Parrilla tackle the Cora problem

http://www.tvfanatic.com/2012/12/once-upon-a-time-set-scoop-sweaters-sparks-and-spells/On Once Upon A Time, both Mr. Gold and Rumplestiltskin walk on the edge of likeability.
Do you ever worry about how the characters you play will be received by the audience, or do you not worry about whether or not they’ll actually like them?
CARLYLE: I genuinely try not to. It’s never the actor’s place to worry about that. If they like him, great. If they don’t like him, great. It doesn’t matter to me. What’s important is being honest. So far, that’s what’s come across, particularly with Mr. Gold. You wouldn’t really want to hang out with him, at all, but somehow people have taken to his charm, or whatever it is. He would do you wrong, there’s no doubt about that. It’s interesting how it’s become that way. With Rumplestiltskin, the showrunners and chief writers, Adam Horowitz and Eddie Katsis, have been fantastic with me because they’ve said, “Just do what you want to do.” I didn’t know what I was going to do with this crazy fairy tale character that not many people know that much about. He’s got a strange name and he spins straw into gold. That’s it. I thought, “Fantastic! This is a blank canvas here. If I’m going to play on this blank canvas, it’s not going to be a pretty watercolor. I’m going to throw oils at it and just smash it like Jackson Pollock.” And that’s what I’ve done with Rumplestiltskin. I’ve just thrown everything, including the kitchen sink, into that character, and it’s worked. It could have went badly wrong, but the audience is just nuts for him. I’m enjoying playing him, and that probably comes across.Has it been great to play all the twists with the fairy tale stories?
CARLYLE: I love that. I think that’s the genius of it, if that’s not too big of a word. They can take these well-known fairy tales and go, “Well, actually, maybe it wasn’t the fairy godmother that sent Cinderella to the ball. Maybe it was Rumplestiltskin.” And then, suddenly, it’s a whole different story. What can you say to tease what’s to come when the show returns in January?
CARLYLE: The stuff that’s coming up, that I’m just about to do in the next three or four episodes, is mind-blowing. It just takes it somewhere else again. I was like, “Oh, my god!” You actually will feel sorry Gold. There’s his love for Belle and he’s trying to be a better man, but we’ll see how long that lasts. http://collider.com/robert-carlyle-marshall-lewy-california-solo-interview/216737/[adrotate group="5"]"That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. I think ‘the good guys’ are going to be the evil looking ones next episode. In the promo when the speakervoice says “and evil…takes a stand” I get the feeling he is refering to Emma, Snow and Charming who is in the picture the moment he says it.
Some people have been theoriesing whether Snow and Emma where really Cora and Hook, because they dress differently in that scene in front of the mayors house. Especially Snow who I don’t believe we’ve ever seen wearing black and brown clothes before.
This could be because they are showing their evil side in this episode. Now the two main ‘evil’ characters have been shown too also have a good side, and so it’s time for ‘the good guys’ too show their bad side. What do you think about this ?
There was a popular “impostor theory” back before 2×9 when some thought Hook and Cora would come through the portal disguised as Emma and Snow. However, I had my doubts even back then. Now that we know all four, (Cora, Hook, Emma and Snow) are in SB, I think it’s safe to rule that theory out for good. It’d be hard to explain why there are two Emmas and two Snow Whites in town.

ParticipantAlso, another reason that magic isn’t indigenous to our world is the conversation that Jefferson and Emma had in 1×17 Hat Trick:
Emma: Here’s the thing, Jefferson – this is it. This is the real world.
Jefferson: A real world. How arrogant are you to think yours is the only one? There are infinite more. You have to open your mind. They touch one another, pressing up in a long line of lands. Each just as real as the last. All have their own rules. Some have magic, some don’t. And some need magic. Like this one. And that’s where you come in. You and your friend are not leaving here, until you make my hat. Until you get it to work.
The fact that Jefferson said there are many worlds, all with their own rules, some with magic and some without like this one we’re living in, solidifies my point. FTL has magic whereas our world did not any magic until Mr. Gold brought magic here. Also, each world has its own rules, and not just in a metaphysical sense; each world has its own laws, and our world is governed by phsycial laws whereas magic is what powers/governs FTL. Also, Jefferson makes it sound like these worlds are in parallel dimensions in the way that they “touch one another, pressing up in a long line of lands.”
Also, in 1×22 A Land Without Magic, Mr. Gold confirmed to Belle that there was no magic here in our world until he poured the bottled love potion in the waters of Lake Nostos.
Mr. Gold: We’re in a land without magic, Belle. And I’m bringing it. Magic… Is coming.
It wasn’t only the Blue Fairy who said our world is a land without magic; Rumplestiltskin, Regina, and Jefferson all confirmed that magic is not indigenous to our world. I’m bound to believe something is true if 4 characters all confirmed the same principle that our land is a land without magic.

46 photos and not one that shows who they’re pulling out of the hole, even though the post mentions them doing it over and over again. Tease! 😛
The green screen is intriguing. Does that mean something will be growing out of the hole, or exploding out of the hole? Or is it because it’s the Giant that will be coming out of the hole and that’s where he’ll be standing? Why would the Giant be trying to get to SB though? Maybe Hook made some sort of deal with him to get him there in exchange for the bean? Or maybe Hook stole the bean, so the Giant is following him for revenge? But if that was the final bean, then how does the Giant get there? There’s no green screen IN the hole though, so maybe it’s just someone regular sized who they pull out? Don’t see Mulan or Aurora (or Phillip) standing around there though, so I guess it can’t be them? Maybe it’s not even a portal, and there’s a hole in the ground for some other reason? Too many questions!
I think the giant could be coming to SB! 😮 Yet, how would a giant fit through that small hole? It doesn’t look big enough. The hole may not be a portal after all. Maybe someone just gets trapped down there. Maybe Mr. Gold trapped his nemesis, Hook, in a giant sink hole.
Kinda love that Snow’s still carrying around a quiver full of arrows, even in SB.
Yeah, I love that the Snow White is showing her true colors even back in SB. 🙂
Interesting that there’s no Emma, even though all the other good guys are there. Wonder if Rumple’s sent her out of town to find Bae by then?
Yes, my thoughts exactly! I really hope the reason Emma isn’t present is because she’s doing that favor for Mr. Gold and she took Henry with her. I’d hate for something bad to happen to her, like Regina or Cora holding her prisoner. Also, Charming is wearing a sheriff or deputy badge, so he seems to be filling in for his daughter, for whatever reason.

ParticipantI think the major thing that happens to the Charmings, in addition to Cora and Hook being in town, is the arrival of the outsider, Barrett, (which I think is also to do with King George standing trail for Gus’ murder and botched frame-job on Red). Barrett, who has a dark side which he tries to justify, sounds like he could stir up trouble.
I am really looking forward to seeing Charming and Emma interact. Yet, I’m not sure how much we’re going to see them interact right away. There are new BTS shots of Charming and Snow, along with 7 dwarves and Ruby, pulling someone out of a hole. It looks like Emma and Henry are out of town, because Charming is wearing a sheriff badge, so he may be the acting sheriff or deputy while Emma is away. Maybe she's off finding Mr. Gold's son and Henry is with her. 😀 http://vancityfilming.com/articles/once-upon-a-time-get-out-of-a-hole/

ParticipantMagic wasn’t in our world until Mr. Gold used the potion of true love to bring it here.
1. Magic from fairy dust is what powers and gives light to fairy-tale land, not our world. The Blue Fairy, who is the Blue Star, uses magic to powers that world. What powers and gives light to our our world is the sun, also a star, but in the form of nuclear fusion rather than magic. Different worlds have different basic principles. For all we know, FTL isn’t even in the same universe. It could be a parallel dimension in another universe.
2. Emma and Pinocchio came through a magic wardrobe which was powerful enough to create a portal from the EF to our world. This does’t mean the tree in our world was magic to start with; it’s just where the magical portal from the EF opened up.
3. Magic was not indigenous to our world before the curse. It was the dark curse, which originated in the EF, that created Stroybrooke and brought over all of the cursed inhabitants, frozen in time, to Maine.
4. Jefferson’s hat couldn’t transport Rumplestiltskin to our world because there was no magic in it. It is a limitation of the hat that it must have magic on both openings to work. Regina said in 1×21 the only magic in this world was the magic she brought over from the EF. The only reason Regina could use Jefferson’s hat to grab the poisoned apple is because she used up the only magic she had left from her enchanted ring with Daniel’s picture. That magic was from the EF not our world.
5. True love did not have magical properties in our world before Rumple brought magic. We saw MM and David kiss and nothing happened. Only Emma, who is True Love Incarnate, was able to break the dark curse, which originated in the EF. Only Emma had the power to break the curse, because she is magic and she isn’t from our world. She was born in the EF and then came here via en enchanted wardrobe."That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake. You just miss it." ParticipantIt’s a thoughtful theory and there seem to be lots of clues like the monocles, the hatter sign, and the watches that Neal stole in 2×6. Yet, I think the white rabbit is too minor a character to be Henry’s dad. Maybe Neal is Baelfire, who is like the white rabbit in sense that he traveled through a portal to a new world, which is like a ‘wonderland’ with its modern technology and lack of magic. Our world would seem strange to a kid from the EF in a similar way to how the actual Wonderland was strange to Alice (who was from our world).

ParticipantNew information has been given about Tamara:
The character of Tamara is being cast. She’s female, late 20s to mid 30s. She is a beautiful woman with an artistic funky style. Her demeanor is laid back and friendly – she doesn’t need to try to be cool — she just is. She’s also educated and well spoken, the type of person who holds her own at a local tavern, because she can charm and converse with anyone. But underneath her smiles and sense of ease, is an extremely ambitious woman who wants to see her personal agendas through. Tamara has the capability and fearlessness of a born leader – and she won’t stop until she gets what she wants. No matter what it takes. She’s a recurring guest star for the remainder of season 2 with an option for season 3. http://once.wikia.com/wiki/2×15#Spoilers

Could this episode be (partly) covering Aurora’s backstory?
I don’t know why, but Edith reminds me of a Merryweather. Maybe Katerina (Aurora’s mother?) needs to hide baby Aurora from Maleficent, so she gives her to Edith, who hides her in the forest to raise as her own. ??
Don’t know how Tamara/Tianna fits in. ^
I think Katrina is the royal whom Edith serves. Edith could also be Tamara’s mother who wants to keep her daughter in service. However, as a dreamer, Tamara doesn’t conform to her mother’s expectations and dreams of opening her own restaurant like Tiana did in “The Princess and the Frog” Disney cartoon. Tamara’s casting call certainly fits that character.
The recurring guest role (recurring role according to some sources) of Tamara is being cast. She is described as African American, Late 20s to mid 30s. She’s beautiful, artistic, relaxed, friendly, charming and smart. She’s also ambitious, fearless and a born leader, and she won’t stop until she gets what she wants.
The fact that’s she’s “ambitious” and “won’t stop until she gets what she wants” sounds like a line from the song Tiana sung called “I’m Almost There” which can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aO0abpVd5UI

Wasn’t Blue called the Original Power in “The Return”?
Perhaps she doesn’t need the magic diamonds at all and and only the “lesser” fairies need the magic of fairy dust. Wouldn’t she have posted some kind of guard there if they were that precious to her? She seemed awfully careless about the whole thing. 😈But what else could the Blue Fairy have done with the discovery of diamonds? She had no wand, and she can’t wield magic without it as the Dark One can. Even if the dwarves had found a way to mine the diamonds successfully into dust, the fairies would still have needed to acquire magic wands. Yet, the BF is not exactly on good terms with Mr. Gold to be asking for any favors of him like returning that fairy wand.
@King Arthur wrote:
Also, Why couldn’t the Blue Fairy create a protective dome much as corrugated for Snow White and Prince Charming? So I guess fairies are not as powerful as they present themselves to be. They do not seem to be more powerful then Rumpelstiltskin or Cora. In Storybrooke they can’t wield any magic with out their wands or fairy dust.
While the BF has been called the original power, that doesn’t mean she’s the greatest power. She could just be the oldest. She certainly has the power to turn a wooden puppet into a real boy and a grown man into a cricket. But she has her limits, as she told Baelfire she couldn’t remove Rumple’s curse from him. The best she could do was send him somewhere he couldn’t use his power.
Chris wrote:As to the harvesting with wands, Rumple basically absorbed the power of the diamonds. It hink it could have something to do with him being the Dark One. Fairies might need the poweder to put into their wands, the Dark One simply takes what he wants.
Precisely. As the Dark One, Rumple is all but omnipotent. He’s more powerful than the fairies, and therefore can use the wand differently.
