That’s interesting. But is Charming stuck in the Red Room? He can’t climb out since the walls are all on Fire. And the Wraith took Philip to a different realm, but we haven’t seen him in the Red Room.

I have no idea where Charming is right now. If he’s still in the room with the fire, then he’ll quickly be consumed by the it. So, I think he found a way back to the room with the mirrors.

    …hopefully.

Doesn’t Prince Charming still have the silver locket with the crescent moon symbol on it? If so, then maybe Charming is able to control the fire and perhaps even find a way out of the inferno room. It’d be really interesting if Charming could control his actions to such a great extent in the netherworld that he could travel to different rooms, where perhaps the souls sucked by the wraith are located.

I think he knows about the dagger because he’s been working with Cora. My theory is that Cora knows all about the dagger, that’s what the battle was between her and Rumple. While I do think she is the miller’s daughter, it can’t be his “guess my name” thing from the original tale since Rumple has a habit of introducing himself to people.

I don’t think Cora ever knew Rumpelstiltskin’s name when they first met, since he was known simply as “The Dark One” in the early days after he lost Baelfire; that’s what Smee called him. Captain Hook of course knew Rumpel’s name because of Milha, but he left for Neverland. Also, the townspeople who knew pre-dark Rumpel died centuries before Cora’s birth, since Rumpel is 300-years-old and Cora is probably no older than 60-years-old; Rumpelstitskin’s name could have been lost to history until Cora came along and guessed it. After that, Rumpel had no reason to keep his name a secret.

Also, I think the writers will keep the storyline somewhat close to the original fairytale in which the miller’s daughter had to guess his name. Perhaps the twist will be she learnt his name not from her servant overhearing Rumpel say his name but from seeing his name written on his dagger. Henry Sr. said that Cora never spoke Rumpel’s name, not even to him. Also, Cora wrote down the name in her book of spells, perhaps as a way to remind herself what happened between them. I agree that Cora likely knows about the dagger and that she let Hook in on the secret. I agree that Hook probably intends to use the dagger on Rumpel’s chest the way he tried to do with his hook but failed in 2×4.

Also, the concept of names being important to Rumpelstiltskin has been touched on several times already. In the pilot, Rumpel’s jail warden warned Snow and Charming not to give their names, otherwise he’d have power over them. Of course, Rumpel knew it was them. Also, Rumpel wanted the name of Snow’s unborn child, Emma, which Adam and Eddy have said was the trigger that allowed Mr. Gold to remember his FTL identity. Finally, in True North. Emma inquired from Mr. Gold the name of Hansel and Gretel’s father; Mr. Gold pretended to look up the name on an index card, but the card was blank. Mr. Gold obviously remembers the name of everyone he’s ever interacted with before. So, names are of great importance to Rumpel, and this seems to be linked to his own story of when the miller’s daughter, Cora, guessed his own name.

I just about fell out of my seat when Mr. Gold told his tale about the enchanted ink and the mermaid who could retrieve it; I’m really looking forward to the Little Mermaid story. 🙂 This is the third nod to that story: first there was Regina saying she had to see about a certain mermaid, then there was the mute maid who served Rumpel, and now this. I have a feeling it’s going to be an excellent adaptation.

Sure, Snow White has unfortunate luck, but I think she is innocent. As far as we know, Snow didn’t cause her own mother’s death. While Snow told Cora about Daniel, she didn’t know Cora was a mean-hearted, manipulative shrew who had bad intentions for Regina. Snow didn’t force Regina to get rid of Cora, and she didn’t cause King George to be bitter old man who harbours ill-will to anyone who defies him. As for Red, Snow was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. With Emma, Snow was the victim of Geppetto’s withholding vital information which would otherwise have allowed Snow to raise Emma in the safety of our world, thereby likely preventing Emma from becoming a teenage mother.

Oh, good point! Would be interesting to see Philip in Henry’s dream!
But then what’s with the medallion that soul sucker trapped him in?

Just a guess, but maybe the medallion is a kind of “portal” to the netherworld and the wraith its keeper.

Yep, this is meant to be Ethan Embry/Barrett’s first ep, I believe.

Now I’m back to pondering my little theory of him being a real world person as opposed to someone from a magical land.

I like the idea that the title The Outsider could refer to Ethan Embry’s character, Barrett. The title could also refer to Belle herself. Regina said after Rumpelstiltskin cast out Belle, she became an outcast and was turned out by her father. While Regina obviously lied about Belle throwing herself off of a tower, there could be a nugget of truth buried in there; it’s possible that Belle was in fact made an outcast for having been associated with the dark one.

^No, there will be Enchanted Forest flashbacks. According to Lana, she and Emilie shot a few scenes together which makes me think that the writers are going to show us what happened between Belle and Regina. I think her episode is going to focus on her time in the mental institution.

Yeah, Jane tweeted a few weeks ago that we were going to see Belle’s history with Regina and what it was like when she was locked up.

I’m so happy to read that Belle will get her own episode. I really hope we get to see Belle stand up to Regina in current-day SB. Earlier this season I read in TV Guide lightening round 2, Adam and Eddy replied positively to this question of whether we’d ever see it:

Will Belle (Emilie de Ravin) ever confront Regina for locking her up?
    Hororwitz: She should!

The title “The Cricket Game” makes me think either someone evil is playing games by using Archie or that Archie has gone rogue and is playing mind games since he’s a shrink. A little while back I read an interview with Raphael Sbarge:

“I’m still a part of the main core,” said Sbarge, who is currently working on episodes 10 and 11. “I’m (doing) these two episodes that will put me in the center of the action.” As for the rest of the season? “There are some pretty exciting things about to happen,” he teased. “There are some wonderful, wonderful characters who lie ahead. And the core group is there and will be ready to embrace them once again very soon, for sure. I know that this is again part of a bigger plan to tell a fantastic story.” http://theclicker.today.com/_news/2012/10/26/14699767-once-upon-a-time-actor-exciting-things-are-about-to-happen?lite

thaks found it, also maybe this guy is just a PI Belle hires to help Rumple find Bae… (to many thoughts)

Or just to flip this theory on its head somewhat, perhaps he’s someone that Neal(Bae?) hires to go investigate the state of things with his father, instead of just heading to town himself.

I just read Adam Horowitz’s tweet that the title for episode 11 is “The Outsider” which I think could refer to Ethan Embery’s character. I like the idea of him being from our world and having some connection to Neal/Bae.

    @RumplesGirl wrote:

Speaking of finding Bae: I wonder if Rumple’s favor would change now that he can’t leave SB. Maybe he asks Emma to go find him. Emma does apparently have magic or something like it. And it would be something very OUaT for it to turn out to be Neal. SURPRISE!

I like the idea of Neal coming to SB in search of Emma and discovering that, low and behold, his father, Mr. Gold, is the one responsible for the entire curse. That’s not going to be a very happy surprise at all.

Hang on, what’s stopping Barrett from being Victor’s brother?

Phee wrote: Unless Victor has two brothers, it’s not possible, because there was an article naming Gerhart/Chad Michael Collins as being Victor’s brother, and a separate article that mentioned Ethan Embry’s character as Barrett, (though I think the article called him Bennett?).

Ethan Embry’s character is Barrett, The casting call is:

His casting call describes him as: “A major recurring guest star role with an option for next season is being cast. A character named Barrett. He’s in his 30s, kind and smart, but also has a very dark side and has beliefs and a way of life that he will fight fiercely to defend.”

Chad Michael Collins has been cast as Gerhardt, Dr. Whale’s younger brother: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/ustv/s181/once-upon-a-time/news/a438392/once-upon-a-time-casts-chad-michael-collins.html

yesterday Etan Embry was on set, with Robert, Lana and Barbra let the speculation begin. 😀 I kinda wonder if he is Cora(?) assuming the other imposter theory is debunked. Anyone????

I read that tweet too! I’m at a total loss for who Ethan is playing. I’m holding out hope that he’s the Wizard of Oz.

…wait, wasn’t it confirmed that he was going to play Victor Frankenstein’s brother? Hmmm…me confused.

Like Spyglass said, Victor’s brother (Gerhardt) is being played by Chad Michael Collins. Everyone assumed that Ethan Embry would play Victor’s brother because there’s an uncanny resemblance between him and David Anders, but it turned out we were wrong. Ethan’s character is the “mysterious visitor to SB” named Barrett, “kind and smart, but also has a very dark side and has beliefs and a way of life that he will fight fiercely to defend.”

I’d been wondering if Ethan’s character might be a real world someone who would be anti-magic and follow Neal to town. But there’s been no suggestion that MRJ is filming right now, is there? So that theory is pretty much shot. Though the Wizard of Oz is meant to be a real world guy, if they stick with the original origin story for him. And he wasn’t truly magical, he was more of an illusionist, so he could potentially be anti-legit-magic. So maybe he’d get drawn to SB, and would try to put things right by using his own bag of tricks to try and get the better of the magic in town. Perhaps. Part of me likes the idea of him being Oz and part of me thinks they’ve already got enough big name players right now, so they could hold off on bringing in Oz for a while.

I read in a recent interview with Adam and Eddy that they’re probably going to leave off doing Wizard of Oz until maybe even S3, so I don’t think Ethan Embry will play Wizard of Oz, thought it’s interesting to consider.
