As far as we know, the only child who had paid a price for Rumplestiltskin magic was his own son; One of the Dark One’s first actions was bringing children back from the ogre wars, and although he has traffic children, we learnt that he found a good place for them to grow up in, as in the case of Charming brother, and there are the parents who “pay the price”.

Granted, we know Rumpel saved the children from the Ogres War, because he was motivated to save his son, Baelfire. Yes, we’ve only seen Rumpel make a deal with one child, Bae (which he broke). Yet, we have heard of Rumpel being very manipulative when it comes to other people’s children, as if they were property to be traded: the curse seperated Emma from her family, Gold tried to gain Cinderella’s baby, he procured David’s twin brother, he procured baby Henry for Regina, and he very possibly tried to take Cora’s baby, Regina, to mold her into his apprentice. Not only did the parents pay a huge price for deals they made, but so did the children suffer as a result. Belle was right when she said that he toys with words like he does people. Rumpelstiltskin wasn’t as interested in the welfare of other people’s children as he was in his own gain. With him, it’s never something for nothing, except in the case of Henry.

So I don’t think there is a reason behind his paternal attitude towards Henry. Not in the bad sense -like a hidden intention, as.. i don’t know, use him for his own pourposes- neither a good one -being his grandson. (even if Henry were, Mr. Gold can’t know it) –
It is probably just that he is fond of children. He was even before being cursed, and probably losing his son increases this part of his personality.

Henry reminds Mr. Gold of his own son, Baelfire, and I think it’s because Henry is Bae’s son (even though Mr. Gold doesn’t yet know it). Both Henry and Baelfire are very brave, heoric, and concerned for the welfare of others. We saw in “Desperate Souls” how Mr. Gold gave Emma the walkie talkies to communicate with Henry, saying how quickly children grow up and then they’re gone. We saw in An Apple Red as Blood how nice Mr. Gold was about helping Henry choose a bell for Mary Margaret. Also, in Land Without Magic, Mr. Gold knew that Emma’s son would be the key to breaking the curse and knew he’d be alright when Emma kissed him. I think this espiode, Child of the Moon showed a strong paternal concern on Mr. Gold’s part for Henry. Taken together, all of these instances could indicate that Henry and Rumpelstiltskin have a deeper connection than one might first suspect.

IN THE PREVIEW it seems that HENRY is putting his life in danger more than DAVID…. I think REGINA might be upset regardless of how good the cause is….. Not to happy about this… we protect children… not put them in danger.

I agree that Regina doesn’t like the idea of Henry’s life being endangered, because he is her son. However, we’ve seen that she’s not against putting children, in general, in danger. After all, Regina sent many children to their death at the blind witch’s house before Hansel and Gretel successfully retrieved the poisoned apple for her.

I think that Henry will volunteer to risk his life the first time he makes contact with Aurora. However, it’ll prove to be too dangerous, and so Charming will have Regina or Gold put him under the sleeping curse, which will cause him to risk his life, since the only way he can be awakened is if Snow returns to SB to awaken him.

I’m more curious about how Spencer/George got his hands on Ruby’s red cloak. Did he have it since FTL? That left me questioning things, but then again, I supposed it isn’t vital information.

Thanks for the link. When he said he loved printing and book binding, my mind immediatley jumped to the conclusion that J.J. Abrams is the writer of Henry’s book. 😆

Yes i noticed this too. At first i did think it could be Baelfires or Rumples- but then how would he get hold of that.

Because Hook stole it from Peter Pan. 😉 Seriously though, it could be anything, just because it looks tattered and child sized, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s Bae’s cloak, (but part of me hopes it is).

Yes! I think second this theory. 🙂 Baelfire and Captain Hook certainly have at least one connection: Rumplestiltskin. How much more epic would it be if Baelfire is also Peter Pan? I could see Hook using Baelfire’s cloak as leverage against Rumpel. By making Mr. Gold think that Hook had captured or killed Baelfire, he’d surely cause even more psychological damage to Rumpel than if Hook killed him. Of course, since I now am 99% convinced that Neal Cassady is adult Baelfire, I think that if Bae and Hook had a run-in before in Neverland, that Bae escaped to our world and has been on the run ever since. I wonder what will happen if Neal shows up in SB and discovers that not only is his father, Rumpel there, but so is his arch-enemy, Hook! Maybe Bae/Rumpel will have to put their differences aside to team up in a major show-down with Captain Hook. Emma may discover that the two men who are besotted with her already have reason to hate each other.

I think the picture of Keegan Connor Tracy in red is a behind-the-sceens picture, and doesn’t have any significance to the plot.

Amazing resemblance and nice catch! I just hope the picture of Dylan and the ad in the convenience store are one and the same. These producers are very big on placing clues in each scene, so I wouldn’t be surprised!
