ParticipantOnce Upon a Time | This Sunday’s episode not only delves deep into Ruby’s hairy identity crisis – what with the first full moon coming since the curse was lifted from Storybrooke – it also takes some big steps in the name of solving the portal problem that thus far has stymied Charming. “I can’t say a lot about it, but a lot of questions regarding the portal and all of that are answered in this episode, like right from the get-go. It’s a crazy episode!” Meghan Ory, who plays Ruby/Red, tells me. But before anyone goes leaping back and forth between realms, a short-term solution will allow the Storybrooke contingent to at least (if dangerously) communicate with those in the fairytale land that is. http://tvline.com/2012/11/08/ncis-vampire-diaries-scandal-spoilers-matts-inside-line/

She wasn’t exactly convincing when she told Aurora that the dreams stop, and now Charming knows that there can be more than one person there at the same time. He probably thinks that the person Henry saw was Snow, considering he knows nothing about Aurora.
😮 If Charming willingly goes under the sleeping curse to communicate with Snow, then he is going to be risking his life, in a sense. Even if Snow and Charming can communicate in their disturbing dreams, the only way he can be awakened is if Snow is physically present in SB to awaken her prince with true love’s kiss! Snow must make it back to save Charming, or he’ll forever be in an enchanted sleep full of regret. Perhaps Charming takes the risk knowingly, because it’s too dangerous for Henry. Perhaps communication through dreams is full of untold dangers.
Phee wrote: Now I’m just wondering what the “vital information” is that he’ll have to deliver.
I think the “vital information” is that Cora and Hook have found a portal to SB, and for everyone else there to be on the alert.
Also, I’m thinking that the “red room” and the “fiery curtains” may be foreshadowing the portal through which Hook and Cora might try and get to SB. We know from the episode description for 2×9 that Rumpel and Regina team up to block anyone from entering the portal.
After Emma’s betrayal, Hook allies himself with Cora to recover the compass from Emma and Mary Margaret. Meanwhile, Regina and Gold learn that Cora plans to open the portal and prepare to do whatever it takes to stop Cora and Hook from coming through to get their revenge.
The “red room” suggests blood. The “curtains on fire” remind me of when Rumpel set the duke of the frontland’s castle on fire.

You know who will always find Emma, don’t you?
August.

Oh, and I agree on the note of this episode sinking SwanHook. Not for the VIEWERS mind you, but for the canon of the show. Maybe Hook was semi-sorta into Emma, but that was stopped when she betrayed him and left him up with a giant. Now she’s on his list – not as high up as Rumpel, of course, but she’s on it. It was the perfect set-up for him going straight back to Cora and joining her season 2 villain brigade.
If there’s something I’ve learned from seeing how they handle relationships on this show is that they don’t introduce an idea unless they intend for it to go somewhere. This thing between Hook and Emma will come up again this was just the start.
Yes, that sounds about right. Even though Emma double-crossed Hook, so did Snow White dupe Prince Charming in “Snow Falls” and we know how that story ended up. I think the writers are setting the stage for a potential romantic interlude later in the season. It could just end up being one-sided though, since I think Emma has built layers of protection to keep from getting hurt. Hook will have to really do something extraordinary and selfless for Emma’s sake (or for Henry’s) for him to earn her real trust and admiration.
However, this will be complicated if/when we see “Neal” come to SB. I think the fact that Emma kept the swan keychain as a necklace shows how much Emma really loved him. After all, he was her first and only love, so far, and the father of her child. Just because she got burned and doesn’t want Henry to know about him doesn’t mean she didn’t really care. If anything, it shows just how much she cared about “Neal” and how much he hurt her. If/when Emma meets “Neal” again and finds out the reason he left (b/c of August and her destiny) it may allow her to forgive him and for them to be reconciled (after a lot of soul-searching and couple’s therapy with Archie).

ParticipantThere could be a million and one reasons why Neal would need a suit. He could’ve been on his way from a religious service, he could’ve dressed up for a formal meal or dinner party, he might’ve had a lunch date, he might’ve had to meet with a potential client, he might have been on his way home from a special fundraiser event, he might be a jazz musician in a fancy lounge, he could be a disc-jockey. I could name more, but that covers a lot of possible areas. I think “Neal” has changed his identity by now and is living a typical, yet lonely life in NYC with a normal job in a studio apartment.

ParticipantI was under the impression that “Neal” got a fake ID when he moved to Canada, which would help to explain how he was able to return to the US, specifically to NYC. He could just have a normal job. Whatever his job is, I have a feeling it will involve communications and/or music based on his musical posters and his old-fashioned records and mics.

Neal had the dreamcatcher in his apartment in the first episode.
I’m thinking he still has dreams about Rumple letting go of his hand, that is if he’s Bae. 😉 This FTL memories still haunt him, in my opinion.
Agreed. I think “Neal’s” nightmares are of his old life in FTL and his father letting go of his hand, which is why there’s a poster of a red hand in his NYC apartment. I don’t think “Neal” was a victim of the sleeping curse, which is what connected the nightmare of Henry, Snow, and Aurora together.
Side-note: I think the bad dreams will be how Snow eventually finds a way to contact Charming: using Henry’s dreams as a go-between.

I felt some sympathy for him turning back into wood and being ashamed to see his father but now I get why he’s ashamed. He took away the only person Emma knew that cared about her robbed her of her cash & split leaving her with nothing but a stolen yellow bug. He’s just a horrible, horrible big brother!
Pinocchio, by nature, is a liar. He even said there were too many temptations in this world for someone with his nature to avoid them. I also had some sympathy for him leaving baby Emma since he was only 7, but for adult August to talk “Neal” into leaving and then setting Emma up for prison is way too harsh! He then took the 20K and split to Thailand?! WTH Pinocchio?! I hope Charming and/or “Neal” punches August in the jaw! I think the writers intentionally are making Pinocchio to be the one we place blame on, since they want to preserve “Neal’s” reputation as more sympathetic for leaving teenage Emma (especially since “Neal” IS Emma’s true love, Henry’s dad, and could be Baelfire).
Faux Pax wrote: I wouldn’t call him horrible. I would call him a douche though. Am I the only one that hopes he can start to make up for all the crap he’s pulled? I mean i know it won’t be easy, but if Regina and Rumple can pull it off…
Phee wrote: WORD, if Rumple and Regina can get a redemption arc, then so can Pinocchio. I wonder if in the end, it’ll be something that he does that eventually brings Emma and Neal back together again for their happily ever after.I agree that if Mr. and Ms. Evil can be redeemed, so can a deceitful puppet. I hope he does something big to help get Emma and Snow White home again. We already saw August make good on his word to send a postcard to “Neal” once the curse was broken. He said he’d let Neal know once Emma had fulfilled her destiny. Mission accomplished.
And I also think Pinocchio and the BF are working together. Those cryptic tweets about August’s motivation for sending away Neal and wanting Emma in prison must be connecting to Henry coming to SB. I wonder if Mr. Gold knows how Henry came to be in Regina’s custody. Does he think that the savior’s child ended up in SB as a result of the curse?!
