Last Feb, Edward Kitsis said about Emma Swan’s name:

Is there something more to Emma’s last name? Is there an ugly duckling or swan princess connection for her?
We chose the name because it’s the metaphor for her journey, to become the swan. And right now I don’t think she is. The funny thing about Emma is theoretically, if she truly believed what’s going on, she’s a princess. But if you told Emma Swan she was a princess she’d … laugh at you.”

Now that Emma has believed and embraced her identity as Princess Emma, she has gone from an “ugly duckling” to the rightful heiress of the Enchanted Forest as the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming. She is starting to realize that she is in fact a metaphorical “swan” as she realizes her parents always wanted and loved her.

I wonder if Cora has any alliance with the ogres. Despite the fact that the ogres seem so incapable of communication, maybe they are more intelligent than previously expected, and Cora made promises to them for their allegiance.

Also, I think Cora and Hook are working together. As Phee said, It seems too unlikely that he just happens to be the lone survivor.

I will also be interested to see if Hook and Smee have a means of communication. Also, I think Captain Hook and Belle had a history in FTL past. After Rumple threw her out, maybe Hook knew of their rocky relationship, and so invited Belle aboard his ship. He then handed her over to Regina for revenge against Rumple. Why else would Smee bother kidnapping Rumplestiltskin’s girlfriend? Smee either can communicate with Hook (e.g. via a magical orb) or Smee wants to hold Belle captive to try and force Rumpel to find a way to bring Hook over to SB.

Yes, just this week, Robert Carlyle confirmed Rumplestiltskin’s age:

“He’s 300 years old. He’s met so many people over the years that he’s been impressed and unimpressed by, he’s taken on their voices, he’s taken on their accents and their mannerisms. He’s layered so much he’s lost himself.” Once Upon showrunners Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis point out that every time we meet Rumple in fairy tale land he’s in a slightly different time period and so therefore Carlyle actually uses a slightly different voice every single time to show this gradual layering effect. http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/10/17/robert-carlyle-rumpelstiltskin/

I definitely think Hook is the same age as Rumple, since as Nonnie said, we see a flashback of both of them before Rumple became the Dark One. I think Hook’s youth has been preserved by living in Neverland and then by the dark curse. We know Hook ends up in the Enchanted Forest, so now that Emma broke the curse, I think Hook will start to age normally.

Unfortunately, Hook means that Milha provides sexual services for the crew. It’s not clear whether she’s a sexual slave or a paid prostitute, but either way, it’s bad news.

I wonder if Jefferson and Rumpel are involved in helping Charming communicate across worlds with Snow. There is a picture of Rumpel holding an orb in his hand in the promotional pictures for 2×5, and then handing it to Jefferson. The orb reminds me of the palantír or “seeing stone” that Pippin finds at Isengard in Lord of the Rings. The wizard Saruman used the seeing stone to communicate with the dark lord, Sauron, but was ultimately corrupted by. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palant%C3%ADr

If Rumpel or Jefferson has the orb in FTL, I wonder if Charming will ask for help and use the crystal ball to communicate with Snow somehow. Jefferson is a portal jumper, so maybe he used the orb to communicate with people in other realms (like Dr. Whale).

Here is Rumpel with what appears to be a magical orb in 2×5.

@ fairy dust: Your connections are incredible. I feel like I just sat in on one of Eddy and Adam’s private conversations about hidden meanings and layering in OUAT.

Before this clip, I could see her wanting to ditch Rumple and Bae behind, but after seeing this clip, I don’t know if she would leave her son behind forever for Hook. Her husband definitely, but her son, I don’t know.

I’m wondering that too. Maybe Milha willingly left her husband, but was then kept against her will. Soon all shall be revealed.

My heart is already shattered. Look at that face; Rumpel looks like a scared kitten! 😥

All I can say is that Robert Carlyle is an absolute acting genius!

I think that since Belle was abducted outside of the library, Smee will take her down the elevator shaft in the library and into the mines which seem to run beneath SB.

I don’t think Hook is in SB, since we see him with Emma, Snow, Aurora, and Mulan in present-day Enchanted Forest in the promotional pictures for 2×4.
