I saw this theory on Tumblr, and I think it’s very plausible, given what we know from 2×1 and the promos for upcoming episodes of S2:

Perhaps that “someone else” is Cora.

Perhaps Hook IS an old aquantaince of Belle. 💡 She said in 1×12 that she’d always wanted to see the world. Who better to give it to her than Hook? Maybe she set sail with him for a bit after Rumpel cast her out but before Regina abducted her.

Re the guys running from Rumplestiltksin: the one on the left is Dr. Whale’s counterpart (Dr. Frankenstein perhaps) and the other is Jefferson. Interesting! Noah Bean is coming back in 2×5 so I think we’ll indeed see Frankenstein performing some sort of experiments on Daniel’s body. Creepy but so captivating.

Another clue from 2×1 that Dr. Whale is Dr. Frankenstein is that he lead a mob and angry townspeople against Regina, whose behavior was “monster-like” when she unleashed the curse. This makes me of Dr. Frankenstein leading an angry mob against the monster he created after it killed innocent people.

Rumplestiltskin tries to save his wife from a band of pirates.

My initial reaction is that this happens after Rumpel becomes the Dark One. Yet, there’ll be a flash-back or allusion to when Milha, a dissatisfied housewife who never respected her cowardly husband, met a dashing pirate named Beaman (aka Captain Hook). When he came calling, she didn’t even bother to leave a goodbye note. Rumplestiltskin, a broken, human man and deserter, convinced himself his wife was kidnapped by pirates rather than believe she’d abandoned her family, the same way he clung to his belief that Baelfire is his true son. Yet, Rumpel was incapable of doing anything about it then, because of his limp and his own cowardice. He had to raise this son he hoped was his all alone. Then the events from Desperate Souls and The Return happened. Now that he is the Dark One, he has the power and motivation to hunt down Hook seeking revenge, but he is shocked to find that Milha wasn’t kidnapped but willfully left him and her son for adventure as part of the crew. That’s what I hope happens anyway.

Belle threatens to leave Mr. Gold if he doesn’t change his ways

I think this could be a re-occuring theme for Rumpel/Mr. Gold. Perhaps it even echoes what happened with his wife, Milha, who dissatisfied with her husband’s cowardice, threatened to leave and then did. When it comes to Belle, she’ll grow increasingly frustrated with Rumpel’s need for power, which he clings to in hopes of finding Baelfire. Perhaps in an effort to win Belle, he finally confides in her about what happened to his wife and son, and then pledges to give up the power once and for all when he finds Bae again.

Jenny predicted this would happen in the initial reactions podcast.

😉 Nice find. So Cora is certainly still alive and kicking in FTL. Will she be foe or friend to Snow White and Emma? Clearly, Cora wanted Regina to marry Leopold, so perhaps she’ll side with Snow White and want revenge against Regina for destroying most of FTL. Also, if Cora still has magic and managed to salvage a piece of FTL, she might be sympathetic and offer Snow and Emma a ticket home.

Yes, Aurora said Maleficent first went after her mother and then her, so this must be Sleeping Beauty II.

Check out Horowitz and Kitsis’ post-premiere interview, since that question was asked. Spoilers:

We saw that Sleeping Beauty was awakened, but can Phillip be? Is that reversible?
Kitsis: We didn't see him die. We saw his soul be sucked, so the question is: Can somebody go get it? http://www.tvguide.com/News/Once-Upon-Time-Emma-Snow-1054020.aspx

Here’s an amazing link which does a much better job than I could of speulating about the New York stranger, his identity, and the objects in his apartment.

If you read point 8, I’d say yeah, that’s pretty much confirmation the mysterious man is Baelfire.
