ParticipantA new interview with Lana Parrilla:
Once Upon a Time fans already know that Regina (Lana Parrilla) will lose her magical powers Season 2, Episode 1: “Broken” (airing September 30), but will the Evil Queen ever gain her powers back? Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Lana Parrilla at the 2012 Entertainment Weekly Pre-Emmy Party in West Hollywood to talk about Regina’s powers and her relationship with Mr. Gold.
Wetpaint Entertainment: How do you think Regina has changed since season 1?
Lana Parrilla: I think we are going to see her in a very different life this season. She’s on the path to redemption! She’s tried every avenue and it doesn’t quite work the same anymore. We know that she loses her powers in the premiere, does she get them back?
Well, she gains a different kind of power, not the one that you so think. She’s almost enlightened in a different way. It’s quite interesting. Can you give us any scoop on Regina and Mr. Gold’s backstory?
Oh God!! You know I think they are two peas in a pod. I think they love each other and they hate each other.Does Regina have any friends left in Storybrooke?
No. Zero.[adrotate group="5"]"That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake. You just miss it." Neal Cassidy

Also, if Peter had been Red’s TRUE love, wouldn’t their kissing have essentially broken her werewolf curse? I’m not entirely sure if it is a curse, since she was born with the werewolf gene. It’s an interesting question which I hope they explore some more.
Anyway, looks like Regina/Evil Queen is set to make an appearance in 2×7:

I totally agree that until Belle, Rumpel as the Dark One cared for no one except Baelfire and himself. The fact that he designed the Dark Curse to destroy all of FTL is testament to that. The Charmings were simply a means to an end for Rumpel so that he could bring true love magic to our world. With Belle now in the picture in SB, however, I wonder if that’ll start to change. Also, if the popular theory of Baelfire being Henry’s dad is true, I could see Henry (and his family) becoming of real importance to Rumpel.

Great idea! I think that could very well be the case, and would make a lot of sense.
Phee wrote:I’d die if they have a Lost connection hidden somewhere in this ep, it’d be brilliant! Nothing glaring or significant, just something like you suggested, that only Lost fans would bother to notice and get a kick out of. All this Tallahassee talk inspired me to take a trip down memory lane and google the Lost stuff that was connected to the place.
That’s so cool that it’s a Lost reference, which I wouldn’t have known otherwise. What exactly happened in Tallahassee on that show?
@Lil’Red. I am certainly in favor of moving on. Even though there was this unfortunate misunderstanding, I never meant anything unpleasant to come between us or to disrupt this otherwise happy time.
Just one more week until the best show on TV returns! Sooooo excited! 🙂

ParticipantI like the Frankenstein theory and don’t mind some good sci-fi every now and then. Maybe there is another world that combines science and magic (like alchemy) to discover the Philosopher’s Stone, which can grant immortality. That’d be an interesting thing to see them do with Dr. Frakenstein, and would be a deviation from the original book. Yet, I’d also be happy to find out if Dr. Whale is someone else completely and am happy to be surprised.
PriceofMagic wrote: Also what if some of the clues we have about Whale’s identity are red herrings. We assume the name “Whale” has some significance to his identity but what if it doesn’t. “David Nolan” has no significance to Charming
I agree that the “doctor” might not have any significance to his fairy-tale identity, except that it could correspond to some kind of title of distinction. Whale could refer to the size of his ego, and not his necessarily his name or identity. In the podcast, they commented that David could be a reference the biblical King David, who started out as a shepherd boy, just like Prince Charming did in FTL.

ParticipantWow, not sure what I wrote to set off such a strong reaction or to garner such sarcasm. I was merely making a connection between the title for 2×6 and that line from 1×4. I had only a very vague memory of it and had to re-watch that scene again today to check exactly what Regina said. Not everyone would have remembered that line if they, like me, hadn’t watched that episode recently. I thought it was an interesting and relevant comment to make. I don’t see why I even have to make any sort of defence, but I just did. Good grief.
