ParticipantPuzzledDr.Whale being Victor who falls in love with Elizabeth cannot stay away from Ruby!….In episode 15, Red Handed, Granny calls Ruby…..”Liza”, which is short for Elizabeth. “just sayin”
Love the theory of Frankenstein. However, Granny didn’t say Ruby’s name is Liza. She was criticizing Ruby for wearing too much make-up and not enough clothing like a drag queen impersonating Liza Minnelli. Norman Bates is a reference to the horror-film Psycho.
Granny: “For another thing, Liza, you dress like a drag queen during fleet week.”
Ruby: “And you dress like Norman Bates, when he dresses like Norman Bates’ mother.”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_Q-KaPFAKY

ParticipantI think we may see Mr.Gold/Rumpel trying to be rid of his dark curse, which would make sense why he’s not green and why he can kiss Belle. Here is some research possibly indicating the he’s discovered a way to be rid of the curse: https://oncepodcast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=1418&start=30#p18294

ParticipantHere is a longer, more complete episode summary for 2×2:

Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, as her wedding day to King Leopold approaches, Regina is confronted by a man of magic who promises to help her become independent and break free from her mother Cora’s (Barbara Hershey) clutches, on “Once Upon a Time,” SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
“Once Upon a Time” stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White/Mary Margaret, Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Lana Parrilla as Evil Queen/Regina, Josh Dallas as Prince Charming/David, Emilie de Ravin as Belle, Jared S. It seems like we may be dealing with three strands of story-telling: Storybrooke, MM and Emma’s adventures in an alternate realm, and FTL in the past when Regina met Rumplestiltksin! That’s going to make for some confusing, yet highly entertaining juggling.
It seems like MM and Emma are in FTL in the past. Perhaps they travel there the way that Regina used Jefferson’s hat to reach into her backstory with Snow White to reach the poisoned apple in episode 1×21. If Emma and MM can go to the past FTL, I still think it would disrupt events, so they’d have to be highly careful. If you’ve ever heard of the “Butterfly effect” it basically says that changing even one molecule can change the entire course of history, including the fate of Emma. Imagine if MM and PC never got together. If you’ve read Harry Potter book 3 (or seen the movie), Harry and Hermione use a magic watch to travel to the past, but they have to be extremely careful not to interfere with their past selves, because doing so could have catastrophic consequences. If the writers think of a similar scenario, I might see time travel as possible.

ParticipantA new interview with Jennifer Morrison:
Breaking news: Once Upon a Time‘s Emma Swan is Alice in Wonderland — or at least she will feel like she is as Season 2 opens with the Storybrooke residents newly aware of their true identities, and just as Mr. Gold aka Rumplestiltskin has brought magic to town.
“The world is upside-down for Emma,” Jennifer Morrison shared on the red carpet at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, where Once was nominated for Visual Effects, Costumes and Prosthetic Make-up. “Not that she is Alice in Wonderland, but in a sense she feels like Alice, who’s gone down the rabbit hole. Up is down, down is up, left is right…. Her whole world is shaken up, and she’s sort of a new being.”
Of course, many fans of the ABC series — which was last season’s highest-rated freshman drama — want to skim over such mind-benders and focus on the sure-to-be-aww-some reunion between Snow, the Prince and their long-lost daughter. But that family get-together, Morrison cautions with a laugh, is “complicated,” for a number of reasons. (As Once cocreator Adam Horowitz says in our Fall Preview Q&A, “After the experiencing the initial joy of finding her parents, Emma struggles as she learns how to be parented.”)
Besides, Emma is till focused on the youngest member of the Charming clan, young Henry, whose life she saved in the season finale with a peck filled with love. With Regina/Evil Queen now exposed and magic ostensibly within her grasp, “[Emma] has to find a way protect her son and her relationships with her family, and figure out how to move forward without being so [emotionally] guarded.”
Speaking of emotions: Somewhere amidst all the mayhem, might Emma in Season 2 find time for romance? Morrison “can’t say” if Jamie Dornan will or will not be back as the Huntsman/Sheriff Graham, but asserts, “There’s definitely romance coming” for the former bail bondswoman.
But is magic coming for her, as well as for everyone else? “It’s going to be a long process of discovery,” the actress hints. “In trying to keep everyone safe and trying to figure out what [magic returning] means for the world, you’re going to start to discover the sorts of things that she’s capable of — and she’s going to discover that, too.” http://tvline.com/2012/09/15/once-upon-a-time-season-2-preview-jennifer-morrison/

ParticipantOh, I’d forgottend about Cora’s cloak buckles being heart-shaped! Nice! I think we may see what happens to Cora in S2 – she’s banished to Wonderland as the QoH. I found a recent interview with Eddy and Adam in which they strongly hinted this outcome to be true.
When asked about the fact that both Regina and the Queen of Hearts have connections of… well… hearts, Kitsis responds with “that was not an accident,” declining to say more.

ParticipantMarilou My brain wants to make out with yours!
My brain is flattered, lol.
So, I also found this spoiler, which I think could go along with this theme of bringing people back to life. Adam and Eddy have been clear to say that in FTL magic cannot bring someone dead back to life. Yet, in brining magic to SB, I think they’ve opened the door possibly for brining back some beloved characters like Sheriff Graham, and perhaps even the Stable Boy. According to Regina, magic in our world is “unpredictable.”
When asked if Sheriff Graham could back, Kitsis confirmed “he’s dead,” and Horowitz reminded that “you can’t kill Jamie Dornan.”
“As far as we’re concerned, Jamie is part of the DNA of the show,” Adam adds. We love him, and that character was a huge part of the foundation of Once. Does that mean he can come back in some form? You never know.” Could the return of magic mean he has a better chance of returning to the land of the living? “Bringing someone back from the dead would be a kind of dark magic I’ve never seen before,” Kitsis says. http://www.ksitetv.com/once-upon-a-time/sdcc-once-upon-a-times-kitsis-horowitz-talk-season-2/15247
I know the Huntsman still pokes his head out in FTL sometimes, but I’m wondering if Eddy mentioning a new kind of “dark magic” could be in reference to this new form of magic coming to SB.

ParticipantAwesome photo! Emma’s episode will have Jack’s story in it, too. 🙂
hjbau wrote:Maybe Emma and Snow come back to Storybrooke via beanstalk.
I like the theory of Emma and Snow White possibly meeting up with Jack and getting a ride to SB via a magic bean.
Phee wrote:That’s quite an impressive beanstalk. Has there been talk anywhere of Dylan Schmid being on set? His Twitter says nothing about it. If he’s not there, then Bae isn’t gonna be our Jack from this story, and we’ll see someone else playing with magic beans instead.
I haven’t heard anything one way or the other. Maybe all of Dylan’s scenes are under-wraps because he’ll be filming in front of a green-screen and the producers don’t want him tweeting about the show (surprise-factor). Another possibility is that we could see Baelfire as an adult, played my the mystery-man, MRJ. Perhaps Jack is grown-up Bae’s new alias. Perhaps we’ll see flash-backs with Dylan in them as a teenaged Baelfire on the run from a giant. Then we flash-forward to Emma and MM being in a distant land and hearing about MRJ’s character (who as it turns out could be adult Baeflire), and they ask him for help getting home.

ParticipantAntBee wrtoe: I guess Henry doesn’t remember anything after eating the apple, or he’s incredibly forgiving to want Jefferson to be reunited with his daughter.
Does Henry know that it was Jefferson who helped Regina acquire the poisoned apple? For all he knows, Regina was acting alone. He doesn’t really understand how magic works in our world or how much magic she had left. He knows Regina was responsible for the death of Graham, so he knows Regina had power in SB, but didn’t know the limits of that power. Also, I doubt Emma mentioned to Henry that she was kidnapped by Jefferson, because Henry’s just a kid, and it would’ve only fueled Henry’s belief in the curse, which Emma doubted at the time. I think the only thing Henry knows is that Jefferson and Grace were separated, based on reading about them in his storybook. He’s just a kid who is friends with Grace, so it’d be natural for him to want the best outcome for this little girl and her dad.
Also, although I already knew it, it makes me sad that Emma and Snow are still missing and trying to find their way home.
Yes, it makes me sad on one level, too. I don’t want Emma to miss out on her new role as a mother with Henry or from bonding with her dad, PC. At the same time, I am looking forward to seeing how Emma deals with being in another magical world. Perhaps she and MM do time travel, which would be very interesting to see, if not complicated though. Remember that movie Back to the Future? If one thing were to change in the past, it could mean the future was drastically changed forever, including the very existence of the hero of the story. It’d be tricky to work in time travel, though not impossible.
Finally, I looked back at episode 2’s description when I noticed that MR-J’s name wasn’t on the list for episode 3, and he’s not on the list for episode 2 either.
Maybe MRJ is just in the premiere but then doesn’t appear again until a later episode (like Emma’s episode, 2×6). I’m still wondering if MRJ is responsible for the disappearance of Emma and MM. If he is Jack, he could have LOTS of magic beans to take them to different worlds.
