ParticipantPhee wrote: That shot of the wolf is an old shot from Red Handed, isn’t it? Interesting that they’d include it. Hmmmm.
Yes, it is very interesting! That clip comes from Red-Handed (1×16). Seems like Kitsis and Horowitz may be hinting about Ruby’s transformation into her wolf-self now the SB has magic. I hope she has her red cape! I’d love for the show’s writers to explore Red’s back-story more and what happened immediately after 1×16 left-off. By the time we saw her in 1×21, Red was in full control of her wolf-shifting and had come to terms with it. One way they could flush out that story is to show how she deals with her phasing into a wolf in SB.
It’s curious that he’s not that heavily made up, but he would have had to have been the Dark One for ages by that time. Just think how excited he’ll be when the child of the miller’s daughter comes to him for help. Even though her mother weaseled out of giving the baby up, he still got her in the end. *insert creepy Rumple giggle*
No one ever breaks a deal with Rumpel. I think we may see his wrath against Cora since she found a way to renege on her original deal with him. Rumpel using the baby that got away (i.e. Regina) against Cora could be the ultimate revenge (for both Rumpel and Regina, who lost Daniel).

ParticipantPhee wrote: I’m wondering if the “evil foe” is just simply DragonMaleficent, given that we’re talking about the Sleeping Beauty story here.
I’ve been wondering the same thing. Certainly, it would make the most sense for Dragon Maleficent to appear in the Sleeping Beauty story. Don’t think we’ll be seeing Maleficent in human form though, since the actress who plays her isn’t listed for 2×1, so if we see Maleficent, she could be her dragony-self. Perhaps the clips from 1×22 of Emma throwing the sword at the dragon were included in the new promo for 2×1 to indicate we might be seeing Dragon Maleficent again.
Knowing this is OUaT, I think we may take a ride on the wild side though, and that the episode will vary from the original fairy-tale. We know, for instance, that Prince Phillip seeks Mulan’s help in freeing Sleeping Beauty. We recently had a spoiler from the actress who plays Mulan, who said her character (along with Prince Phillip) would be on the run from an “evil spirit.” Here’s the thread for that spoiler: https://oncepodcast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=1413
I’m also wondering if the rune/medallion we saw Mr. Gold holding in the new promos is connected to this “evil foe.” In another thread, someone posted some excellent research about how the rune is associated with death and destruction. https://oncepodcast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=1444
Could the medallion have once belonged to Mulan, but unbeknownst to her, it was connected to an evil spirit? In the Disney version, Mulan received the crest of the emperor for saving China. On that medallian was a dragon! (I’m thinking this could be Maleficent the Dragon’s tie-in).
Also, based on the new promos for S2, I’m thinking Mr. Gold may release this evil force in SB (based on the promo), since we saw him drop it in the magic well.

ParticipantTzierdt wrote: I just have to ask, are we under the assumption that time is variable between worlds?
The simplest answer is no one (except for the OUaT creators) has the answer to that question. It’s all speculation at this point, and your guess is a good as anyone’s. Time could be different between worlds, so that 10 years in FTL would be like a minute on earth (e.g. think Chronicles of Narnia), but it could also be linear. We’ll have to wait and see.

ParticipantI’m so excited for Emma finally to have her moment, and hopefully, reveal her past. For being the central character on the show, we know very little about her first 28 years of life.
Phee wrote: So, MRJ is headed back for more filming and it’s the “most intense Emma episode yet”. MRJ is SO playing Henry’s dad.
Yes, it certainly seems likely that MRJ could be Emma’s baby daddy.
Saw this on tumblr. Interesting. Could this be the Jack and Beanstalk episode? 😉
So we know they’re filming episode 6, which is Emma centric. Jennifer said much will be revealed.
On Sunday, Michael Raymond James tweeted that he was heading to Vancouver. So he’s definitely going to be in Emma’s revealing episode. We still don’t know who he’s playing though.
Jorge Garcia’s girlfriend tweeted that they arrived in Vancouver today. As you know, Jorge will be playing The Giant from Jack and the Beanstalk.
Jorge will be filming, yet we haven’t heard who’s been cast as Jack yet. So either Michael Raymond James is playing him, or someone we’ve already met.

Participant“MAGIC IS COMING” SPECIAL – PRESS RELEASE
EMMA SWAN’S JOURNEY INTO STORYBROOKE AND HER DESTINY TO BECOME THE SAVIOR OF THE CURSED FAIRYTALE CHARACTERS IS REVISTED, IN ANTICIPATION OF THE EXCITING SECOND-SEASON PREMIERE, ON “ONCE UPON A TIME: MAGIC IS COMING,” SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 ON ABCGiancarlo Esposito, Who Plays Sidney/Magic Mirror, Narrates the Special
ABC invites new and devoted “Once Upon a Time” viewers to take another look at last season’s number one new drama and one of the most critically acclaimed shows. “Once Upon a Time: Magic is Coming,” narrated by Giancarlo Esposito (Sydney/Magic Mirror), will explore the series in a way that will bring new viewers up to date — but which current viewers will also find illuminating – in anticipation of the exciting second-season premiere. The special will take a look at Emma Swan’s journey into Storybrooke and her destiny to break the Evil Queen’s curse, which sent the fairytale characters into our world with no memory of who they once were. Backstories and secrets of Snow White, Prince Charming, Rumplestiltskin, Red Riding Hood and others will also be revealed. In addition, the special will give a glimpse into what’s upcoming for Season Two — magic! “Once Upon a Time: Magic is Coming” airs SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 (7:00-8:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
And they lived happily ever after… or so everyone was led to believe. To ensure that no one in fairytale land – especially Snow White – had anymore “happily ever afters,” Evil Queen Regina cast a curse which trapped the fairytale characters, frozen in time, and brought them into our modern world. Although still alive, they had no knowledge of their former selves and were sleepwalking through life – ageless — for 28 years, until their savior arrived in the form of Emma Swan. Unbeknownst to Emma, she was the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, who had whisked her out of fairytale land and into our world as an infant to save her from the curse. Abandoned as a baby, Emma’s life was anything but magical. Her last job was as a bail bondsperson, but she mostly went from job to job without much of a life plan. When her 10-year-old son, Henry, whom she gave up for adoption years ago, appeared on her doorstep with a book of fairytales and told her a crazy story about how she’s the prodigy of fairytale characters who are all trapped in a town called Storybrooke, she thought he was nuts. But curiosity got the better of Emma, and she brought Henry back to the town and soon found out that Storybrooke was indeed more than it seemed. Regina, ever the control freak, had placed herself as Mayor of the town and was Henry’s adoptive mother. But over time, Emma began to see through the cracks of the curse. And the only way she could truly break the curse was to accept her destiny as liberator of Storybrooke’s characters and to fight for their freedom.
“Once Upon a Time” stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White/Mary Margaret, Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Lana Parrilla as Evil Queen/Regina, Josh Dallas as Prince Charming/David, Emilie de Ravin as Belle, Jared S. Gilmore as Henry Mills, Meghan Ory as Red Riding Hood/Ruby, and Robert Carlyle as Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold.

Participant@ Lil’Red: My sincere apologies if posting the same pictures in a different thread offended you, but I did give you credit in both this thread and that one. I was in no way trying to plagiarize your ideas or mock them. I actually thought your ideas were really good, and I agreed with them in that thread, if you reread them: https://oncepodcast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=1440&start=10
There is no rule about not being able to re-post relevant photos in a different thread and repeating some of the same conversation, because this is an open forum with lots of different contributions. I wasn’t trying to improve on your ideas, but just processing them. I wasn’t at all mocking your idea about the possibility of Dr. Whale potentially having scales. In fact, there is a photo of David Anders (Dr. Whale) with mysterious reptile-looking arms posted in this thread and the other, so I actually think it could be plausible! When I speculated Dr. Whale could be both the crocodile and Peter Pan, I was half serious, because it’s my imagination taking off and thinking about Ruby also being the Big Bad wolf. It’s just the sheer fun of me jumping to the conclusion that the writers could potentially think of such an unusual and amusing scenario that makes me laugh at loud. I like to kid around, and that’s just my personality.
Honestly, I was truly surprised by your response. I’ve been posting here 6 months, and yours is the first negative reaction I’ve received. One of the dangers of using the internet as a means of communication is that you can’t tell others’ tone or intent. I’m not out to get one up on anyone or take something away from your contributions. I always strive to respect others’ opinions and ideas, even if I disagree. I hope you can in turn give the benefit of the doubt and see I had good intentions.

ParticipantLil’Red posted these under a different folder, but I thought I’d place them here, since they come from 2×5. Looks like Dr. Whale could actually be morphing into a creature with scales? Lol! What appears to be a green bandage could actually be where the editors use the CGI green-screen effects to show his transformation into his FTL identity.
Maybe he just lost his arm? If he is Peter Pan, could Hook have gotten his revenge for Peter cutting off his hand all those years ago?
Any guesses about the purpose of the cooler? Could he be keeping his arm on ice? I’m thinking the green bandage is just where Dr. Whale will be made to have lost a limb. I’m thinking he’s going to make a deal with Mr. Gold so that Gold will use magic to reattach his missing limb.
Hair-brained moment: I wonder if he’s both Peter Pan and the crocodile who ate Captain Hook’s arm! (Only half serious, though Red was also the wolf, so not impossible). Remember the earlier picture of him with reptile scales of sorts – although that could be a bogus picture, as well.

ParticipantLilRed, those are seriously amazing! I agree with most of your thoughts. The green bandage could simply be where the special effects team will use CGI green-screen effects to make Dr. Whale look like he just lost a limb. Maybe he’s keeping his detached limb on ice in the cooler until Mr. Gold can use magic to reattach it (hence Robert Carlyle being in the shots). Also, the blood stains on Dr. Whale’s shirt, and the fact he’ missing a sleeve are indications he’s just suffered a trauma.
Could this go along with the Peter Pan theory? Could Hook have finally gotten his revenge for when Peter fed Hook’s hand to crocodile all those years ago in Neverland?
Hair-brained moment: I wonder if Dr. Whale is both Peter Pan and the crocodile who ate Captain Hook’s hand 😮 (Only half serious, though Red was also the wolf, so not impossible). Oh, now that’s just a wee bit silly, as Bobby Carlyle might say. 😆
Remember the earlier picture of him with reptile scales of sorts – although that could be a bogus picture, and yet, maybe Lil’Red’s idea about scales isn’t so crazy after all.

Here is another promo (this time more HD): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMDOb_s4t_8&feature=player_embedded
This gif of Emma is awesome, and so is everyone else!

ParticipantI’m jumping up and down in my chair like a kid on a roller coaster! 😀 Finally, some real footage from S2 ❗ I have so many excited emotions, that I’ll have to collect myself before I can start theorizing about what’s to come 🙂
Okay, I’m better…So many things:
-I agree that it looks as if Regina can’t do magic at first but then gains her bearing. I’m thinking that her regaining power is somehow connected to SW and Emma not being in SB from E2 onward.
– The dialogue between Rumpel and Belle has to do with what Regina did to them and Belle pleading with Rumpel not to turn to hate.
-The footage confirms that Mulan, Phillip, and Sleeping Beauty all know each other. Nice find about the Rune of the Grave by the way! Based on the first line of the poem posted above, I think the “knight” it presents a threat towards could be Lancelot. (It could also be connected to the reappearance of Daniel in ep. 5) Also, the promo shows Mr. Gold holding up his dagger to the ruin – so there must be some dark magic going on there! Also, there is speculation that the rune/medallion belonged to Mulan (the crest of the emperor given to her for saving China).
-What is Regina riding away from (or towards) on horseback in FTL? Could it be Daniel?
– The only new footage of Emma is for a flicker of a second in SB, when Prince Charming saves her with his sword. I’m thinking it’s from the season 2 premiere, but I’m dying to find out where Emma goes afterwards (guessing to other realms)."That’s how you know you’ve really got a home.
