ABC’s ‘Once Upon a Time’ promises more fairy-tale fun

“As for Regina, how evil is she? As Kitsis notes, she helped save Henry’s life when she knew it could mean the end of her curse. “For the first time, the Evil Queen made the right choice,” he said. “Is she on the path of redemption and does she want to be redeemed? Like most of the characters, she’s looking for love and she has trouble finding it.”

In episode two, viewers will learn how she met Rumpelstiltskin and how she learned magic.”

I wondered about the use of a cane, too. Notice, Mr. Gold isn’t green again or a Gollum-like creature like Rumpel was in FTL. I have two theories about this: the new form of magic is derived from true love, so it can’t be dark magic and has therefore relieved him of his curse. It could be now that he has Belle back in his life, they’ve kissed, and he’s been set free from the dark curse.

Are we sure he is reoccurring?

Yes, the role is “potentially reoccurring,” according to TV line.

From TV Line Once Upon a Time is giving actor Colin O’Donoghue the Hook! The ABC drama has tapped the Irish thesp to join the Season 2 cast in the potentially recurring role of Captain Hook, TVLine has confirmed. http://tvline.com/2012/08/03/once-upon-a-time-colin-odonoghue-captain-hook/

Now if someone else suggests the idea on the show about opening the library back up, and she hears about it or sees a poster about it, or someone suggest to her that she could help with restoring it, I don’t mind that idea, but I guess I feel that after 28 years of being locked up and not knowing about our world at all, I’m not sure if I would find it believable that she would come up with restoring and opening up the library on her own.

Perhaps Belle goes to the library precisely because she has been locked away in a new land for nearly three decades; she has a lot of reading to catch up on and a lot to learn. She’d gain invaluable information from reading an encyclopedia and newspaper archives. I love the reference to the library from the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast. Also, I think the name “Adam” would be very fitting for Mr. Gold, since as said, it’s the Beast’s name in the cartoon version, and is the namesake of Adam Horowitz, the co-executive producer of OUaT.

I was really excited by this confirmation:

Eddy: We now can do Peter Pan, Captain Hook, and all of their cohorts in Neverland.

Eli Gold? Where’d they get that from?

I know! It’s seemingly random for them to publish this as Mr. Gold’s first name, making me think it’s a mistake. If it’s true, it’s the biggest spoiler I’ve heard yet. Great job with your research! If his name is Eli, it’d make a lot of sense.

Lil’Red wrote: That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if the crocodile was symbolic of a person. But, knowing how the crocodile followed Hook around, waiting to strike again, I’m thinking it’s someone Hook burned in the past who has been waiting for revenge.

Brilliant! I love the possibly layered meaning of crocodile being both someone who has it out for Hook (e.g. Rumpel) and a reference to the original Peter Pan tale. It’s one of my childhood favorites, and I can’t wait to see OUaT do a mash-up of the different characters by weaving in Rumpels’s tale. I definitely think Milha will turn out to be Rumpel’s estranged wife who left him for Beaman (aka Hook).
