Can’t see it being August, because is he really considered trustworthy? He’s one of my fave characters and even I wouldn’t say he’s trustworthy. He was hiding stuff from the moment he rolled into town, wouldn’t reveal who he was or why he was there until he got desperate, and though he claimed to not be a liar, that was totally a lie. One of his fairytale persona’s noteworthy traits is that he lies. So I’m thinking we can rule August out of the equation for this spoiler.

Totally agree with this thought. Not even Emma, who was blind for most of S1, trusts him any longer (though she may forgive him). Even though he lies, I think he’ll be one of the characters who finds redemption this year (which Adam and Eddy said is the theme for S2).

and some we had come to believe could be trusted will turn against their own kind.

Like Phee pointed out, the wording here is interesting. “Some” definitely implies the possibility of more than one character. I think the BF could be one of these characters, potentially. She thinks she serves “the greater good” and has a very utilitarian view of morality. That being said, however, I’d be surprised if she sided with Regina; in fact, I predict this won’t happen since she was very against Regina when the curse was broken in 1×22. I think it’s more likely the BF would try to take control for herself and the fairies. I think Nova will likely join Grumpy though, in a sort of rebellion against the ranks.

The thought also occurred to me that the list could include Belle, whom many believe to be a heroine. If she were to join ranks with Rumpelstiltksin, however, she could become his ally and a de facto villain herself (or at least his accomplice). We don’t know for sure which side Rumpel will take, but we know he’s definitely self-serving to the extent of creating the dark curse to start with. Emilie de Ravin hinted we’d see a “darker” Belle this season. I’m thinking we may also discover that Baelfire, who was so brave and virtuous as a child, may have turned darker after his father let go of him. He could have become embittered and hardened with a tough edge as a result.

Wow, great find! I wonder if the name has any special significance. There was a King Richard the Lionheart of England from the Robin Hood legend, but I doubt that has any link to Prince Charming. I did discover that the name Richard means “powerful leader” which does fit nicely with PC though.

Wasn’t it Robin Hood who was the archer, not Peter Pan?

Yeah, you’re right. I can’t remember when, if ever, Peter Pan was associated with archery, but I know for sure Robin Hood was. It’s so interesting that Dylan has been taking up archery, and it’d be interesting if Baelfire turns out to be Robin Hood. There is some evidence to suggest that may be the case. In episode 1×19, The Return, when Rumpel and Baelfire are in the woods, there is a group of boys fighting with sticks, which could be a foreshadowing of Robin Hood’s group of merry men. Also, Henry’s mirror had pictures of various fairy-tales back in S1. One of them I identified as being Robin Hood fighting Little John in the same style as we saw the boys fighting in 1×19. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_john

    Robin Hood fights Little John

Local boys from Baelfire’s village fight in the woods before scattering from Rumpelstiltskin:

I really don’t care about Morraine. She served her purpose. I want Bae’s true love to be Emma, even if he isn’t Henry’s father.

I’ve never really bought into the Baelfire = Emma’s true love. I think it’s more likely that Morraine may be Baelfire’s true love, just because we’ve already seen her twice, in the same episodes as Baelfire. She’s the one who told him about the Blue Fairy. Also, the names “Dark One”, “Baelfire” and “Morraine” are all references to the book series called The Wheel of Time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wheel_of_Time Bae and Morriane seemed linked in my mind. Who knows for sure though? It’s fun just speculating, and it wouldn’t be the first time I’m wrong.

I’m guessing Dr. Whale is the powerful wizard who gave Granny the enchanted cloak for Red so she wouldn’t phase into a wolf. The main reason is that Dr. Whale is linked to Ruby in SB, so it seems like they’re linked in FTL. Also, a doctor can treat ailments with medicine in our world like a wizard could with magic in FTL.

I don’t think the show is trying to purposely mislead us.

I’m reminded of the whole “who is August?” song and dance from S1. I think the writers did try to mislead a bit since they made it seem like August was Baelfire (same coloring, same episode), but he turned out to be Pinocchio. I was right in guessing who his character was though, since I said that making 1×19 a Rumpel episode about his son and giving him the same coloring was meant to be a red-herring.

This situation just seems familiar to me, which is why I think Eddy and Adam actually want us to think that the “mysterious new character” really could be Baelfire. No one has been cast as Jack yet though, which is making me think that Michael could be Jack. There’s also the popular theory in which Jack = Baelfire, and I’m happy if it turns out to be the case.

Been pinning to get some more information about the newly-cast actor for the role of Lancelot? Once Upon a Fan UK did an excellent interview with Sinqua Walls on his upcoming role in S2:
