I also thought he’d be a bit older….like around the same age as the guy who played Hook in that movie with Robin Williams as Peter Pan.

I thought it’d be a younger Hook – before he became the Captain Hook of Peter Pan fame. Even though the actor who plays Hook appears young, I think the character will actually be as old as Rumpel, but hasn’t aged because time stands still in Neverland. Perhaps he only showed up in SB because when Rumpel brought magic to SB, he created portals to other realms (since magic is unpredictable, it could happen). I also have a feeling Beaman is his other alias and that he’s affiliated with Mr. Gold (whose shop sign reads Pawnbroker and Antiques Dealer). We know from the casting call that Beaman is a thief of antiques. Perhaps he is Rumpel’s dealer/smuggler.

I was thinking that maybe the flashback will be to when Captain Hook met up with Milha, Rumple’s ex, and then something happened between them.

I agree with this thought, since I posed the theory back when the casting call for Milha and Beaman was first announced.

I really don’t think Milha is Rumple’s ex-wife. If they were going to introduce us to her I think they would’ve done so back in Desperate Souls. I think she’s just a character who’s going to be used to introduce us to Hook back in FTL.

I don’t think there was any compelling need to introduce us to Mrs. Rumpel in “Desperate Souls” since that was not the focus of the storyline. If anything, not introducing her early on gives Kitsis and Horowitz more room to play with and the writers more intrigue to work with when telling the stories. It keeps us guessing and asking for more, which is one reason we all love OUAT.

I think that Bae will turn out to be Rumple’s though just because if Milha is Bae’s mom, it sounded like she was married and had a baby with Rumple, but then got bored with her life, and then went after something more.

It’s possible the affair was ongoing while Rumpel was in the first ogre’s war, and when he deserted and returned, she tried to make out that it was Rumpel’s son (conceived when he was home on a leave of absence). When she discovered Rumpel was a deserter, she really could have been disgusted by having a coward for a husband, waited to give birth, and then up and took off after “adventure” with Captain Hook.

We saw him breaking into Mr Gold’s shop, could that suggest that Rumple is going to be his enemy? Crazy theory just popped into my head but what if (if Rumple is Hook’s enemy) Hook tries to steal Belle off of Rumple.

I do think there is a rivalry between Rumpel and Hook, but I don’t think it’s over Belle. I think it goes all the way back to Rumpel’s ex-wife, who perhaps left him in the name of adventure for Captain Hook. I don’t think Rumpel has to worry about Belle falling for a crazy pirate. Belle is blinded by love for Rumpel and hasn’t stopped loving him, despite what he did to her.

    We have our Captain Hook!

Once Upon A Time has found its Captain Hook. Irish actor Colin O’Donoghue (The Rite) will play the recurring character on the upcoming, magic-themed second season of ABC’s fairytale drama. This marks O’Donoghue’s return to ABC where he played the male lead in the 2011 drama pilot Identity. The actor, who also did an arc on The Tudors, has signed with UTA for representation. He is also repped by Alchemy Entertainment and UK agent Jonathan Arun. http://www.deadline.com/2012/08/colin-odonoghue-gets-key-recurring-role-on-once-upon-a-time-signs-with-uta/

From TV Line Once Upon a Time is giving actor Colin O’Donoghue the Hook! The ABC drama has tapped the Irish thesp to join the Season 2 cast in the potentially recurring role of Captain Hook, TVLine has confirmed.

A handsome, fearsome and confident pirate ship captain, Hook relishes every challenge and never backs down from a fight, whether the reward is power, riches, or women. He possesses the meticulous style and old-school manners of a proper gentleman, but beneath that veneer lies a vindictive enemy who will not rest until all his enemies have been defeated… and humiliated.

O’Donoghue, who guest-starred on The Tudors as Duke Philip of Bavaria, is slated to debut in this season’s fourth episode. http://tvline.com/2012/08/03/once-upon-a-time-colin-odonoghue-captain-hook/

Official ABC Description of Captain Hook:

a handsome pirate ship captain who never shies away from a fight.” Although he gives off a gentlemanly air, he is truly vindictive in nature. The Captain will play a pivotal role in the bad fortune that has befallen Storybrooke.

    1. The character you first fell in love with…
That would definitely have to be Prince Charming, who nearly died saving his newborn baby daughter. From that scene on, I was hooked (not to mention crying buckets).

    2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now…
At the risk of sounding cliché, that’d have to be Rumpelstiltskin/Mr. Gold, but not because of “Skin Deep” like so many others. He really had me from “Desperate Souls” on, in that I saw him as a sympathetic character who made the wrong choice but for the right reason. I don’t think he’s that attractive as a reptile-like creature, but I do think Robert Carlyle is one of the best actors on the show and cleans up nicely as Mr. Gold.

    3. The character everyone else loves that you don’t…
Belle (and I say that with caution and respect for those who disagree). It’s not that I dislike her as a character, as much as I wish they’d found a more convincing actress to play opposite the amazing Robert Carlyle.

    4. The character you love, but everyone else hates…
August W. Booth, because even though he’s an over-sized puppet, he’s still got an awesome motorcycle and vintage typewriter. I also don’t think his story is finished. He is somehow linked to the writer of Henry’s book, and I love the intrigue.

    5. The character you used to love, but don’t any longer…
I never really “loved” the Blue Fairy, but she has certainly fallen in my esteem (mostly after 1×19 when she had a look of secret delight when Baelfire took the magic bean from her).

    6. The character you would totallly smooch…
    Hypothetically speaking, Prince Charming.

    7. The character you’d want to be like…
Emma Swan. She is just a cool, modern heroine, who despite her past mistakes, has really stepped up to the plate to save her kid, and consequently, the parents she never knew. She has really shown an amazing amount of growth over S1, and she shares a lot of noble virtues with her parents (when they aren’t cursed).

    8. The character you’d like to slap…
Regina. Though I think Lana Parrilla is incredible as an actress, Regina is one crazy lady. Even though she suffered a horrible loss which caused her to snap, taking out your revenge on poor Snow White, who was just a little girl who lost her mother too young, is cruel, vindictive and malicious. IMO, her anger was misdirected, and really she should have been the most outraged at her evil mother. That being said, I hope Regina finds redemption, and that her love for Henry will allow her to forgive his grandmother.

    9. A pairing that you love…
Snow White + Prince Charming is the way true love should be. I love those two together.

    10. A pairing that you despise…
I don’t despise Grumpy and Nova, but I don’t love them as a pair either.

Another cute pic of Emma and her mom:

Some news coming out of SB:

Magic is making people disappear from SB – maybe even Emma and MM (who we know go missing in episode 2)!

Beaman, a criminal who deals in stolen antiques. This role may be recurring.

How did Mr. Gold come to collect antiques? Could he have gotten his spoils from this Beaman character? After all, the sign on Mr. Gold’s shop reads, Pawnbroker and Antiques Dealer:

Here is a filming shot of who is supposed to be Emilie de Ravin (aka Belle) on set at Mr. Gold’s pawn shop.

There was also one of Emma’s bug

I’ve heard mention of Emma’s car being in the credits, but I didn’t see it in the opening credit titles in the link I provided. Where did you come across it? Could the extra unused shots of the white horse and several horses and riders be extra or spoilers?

I speculated on another thread that the old book in Regina’s hand may be her diary featured in 1×11, Fruit of the Poisonous Tree.

Which pictures are these? I haven’t seen any yet for that scene of SW or Emma falling into a hole – just the ones of Jefferson and Charming for 2×2.
