ParticipantWetpaint: Ginnifer Goodwin Talks Season Two
Your show doesn’t mess around — tying up the big storyline in the first season. Were you surprised?
Oh, shocked! I was sure, as I was told when I signed on, that the crux of the show was this unbreakable curse. And I am delighted — the word delighted does not even begin to sum up how ecstatic I am that we’re going to explore new territory next year, because it will be a whole new show now that we remember our parallel lives.Do you think that will eliminate the need for flashbacks, which is a huge part of the show?
I asked that as well, but there are still so many pieces of the puzzle that we need, and we’ll add more, so we’ll absolutely continue the flashbacks because we’ll keep providing the audience with more clues. We need to fill in some blanks and we’re going to create some new conundrums that will need filling in.And Snow and Charming — they’re now reunited. Is it too early to say they’ll live happily ever after with the smoke coming?
I mean I hope we are together! Because I feel that Snow and Charming are meant to be together, and I am assuming that this season — and I am hoping — they are a united force and it’s all about them developing a relationship with their daughter. You’ve mentioned that Emma (Jennifer Morrison) may have some resentment about being abandoned.
I would imagine given what I think we’ll discover she went through as a child in the foster system, that even if it’s unfair in some ways, even if it was a better scenario (than staying in Fairy Tale Land under the curse) I would imagine there is some kind of resentment, and on the part of the parents there would be some kind of guilt. That’s awkward if they live together.
And they’re the same age! That’s going to be real interesting!I overheard you want to shoot in Hawaii?
On Big Love they’d always ask me, “Where do you want Margene to go?” and I understood that they meant in life or emotionally, but I always said, “Hawaii.” Those creators never bit, so hopefully on this one we can make that happen.Once Upon a Time Season 2 premieres on ABC this fall.

ParticipantThis is true. Do you guys think we’ll be seeing more of everyone’s stories in season two? Will we still see flashbacks of FTL? Or not, because everyone knows who they are now, so there’s no need.
Spoiler alert: Yes, we will still see FTL flashbacks.
One thing we did want to know for sure – they aren't giving up on Fairytale Land, right? Because one of the things we love most about “Once Upon a Time” is the parallel universes.
“No,” Horowitz assures us. “We don't want to abandon either world. That's some of the most fun to write.” We're so glad to hear it."That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake. You just miss it." Neal Cassidy

ParticipantThe expression that describes the Blue Fairy as “ruler of the night” is obviously in reference to her being the Blue Star that you wish upon from the Pinocchio fairytale. You know the Disney song “When You Wish Upon a Star” from that same story. The name Reul Ghorm is simply Scots Gaelic for “blue star.” That doesn’t make her a dark character, but rather, she is the one who grants wishes. In the pilot episode, we saw Emma blow out a blue star-shapped candle and wish she did’t have to be alone on her birthday, which is right when Henry showed up. The Blue Fairy and her fellow fairies are connected to the night sky, as indicated by episode 14, in which the nuns prepare for the festival in a room full of star constellation maps. Also, in FTL, the fairy name Nova can refer to an exploding star, and in SB, her counterpart name, Astrid, is connected to the space term, asteroid.

ParticipantThe real issue is that Regina was still in effect cursed when Henry died, despite being the one who unleashed the darkness in the first place. She gave up her magic when she came to our world. So, even though Regina loves Henry, her kiss wouldn’t have had the power to bring him back. (Neither would a kiss from Mary Margaret, since she was cursed, too). Regina said as much to Emma in the finale: she didn’t have any magic left. Only Emma, who is True Love Incarnate and who is free of the curse, had the power to break the spell with true love’s kiss. Mr. Gold confirmed this idea when he said he added a drop of the true love potion onto the parchment on which the curse was written. That is why Emma, and Emma alone, was the key to breaking both the sleeping curse and the ultimate curse to end all curses.

Participant“Immature love says: ‘I love you because I need you.’
Mature love says: ‘I need you because I love you.’” Erich FrommWhile Regina may love Henry, it is a very immature and self-centered love. She needs Henry to try and fill a void that she has after losing a lover, Daniel in episode 18. Moreover, by killing the thing she loved most (aka her dad, Henry Sr.) in episode 2, Regina has a void that can never be filled. That was the price she had to pay to enact it. She has tried to fill that void by means of a dubious adoption, and yet, that emptiness persists inside of Regina, as Mary Margaret picked up on.
Regina is the one who is mentally ill – she finds pleasure in other people’s pain. Also, her idea of love became twisted when her mother killed Daniel. Her mother’s words were something akin to “I only did it out of love for you.” Her mother demonstrated a twisted, self-serving “love,” and when Daniel was gruesomely murdered, something in Regina snapped. I think Regina is the one with real psychiatric issues. I wonder if we’ll see her in the same mental ward in the cell next to Sidney now that the people of SB have awakened to her twisted scheme. Though I feel somewhat sorry for Regina for having such a horrible mother like Cora, she is still ultimately responsible for her own actions. She is consumed by a desire for revenge, and I only hope she finds some sort of redemption. However, now that magic has come to SB, chances of that are looking slim.
