New Q&A with Robert Carlyle (aka Rumpelstiltskin/Mr. Gold): http://www.goldderby.com/television/videos/44/362/robert-carlyle-qa-%27once-upon-a-time%27.html#

I’m calling that Rumpel used the true love potion to bring magic to SB so that he’ll have the power to do anything, including bringing people back to life. It is his “contingency plan” just in case his son died. It would also be a way to bring characters like Graham, Daniel, and Peter back to life. It would provide a way for Emma to be resurrected in case the “savior” of FTL dies.

Rumpelstiltskin: If you can bottle love, you can do anything.

Rumpelstiltskin brought to SB the most powerful magic of all: true love. Since it allows him to do anything, I suggested that he may want to have the power to bring people back to life, make people fall in love, and allow people to wish for more wishes. These three things were all limits to magic in FTL and were hinted at throughout season 1 by Rumpelstiltskin, the Blue Fairy, Regina, the Genie, and Maleficent. The reason I suggested that Rumpelstiltskin may want the power is because he may wish to have a contingency plan, just in case his son, Baelfire, died. I don’t think Rumpelstiltskin knows the fate of his boy, who disappeared from FTL centuries ago. Bae may very well be alive, having travelled across time and space, but there is still a chance he could have died. So having the ability to bring someone back to life would be a desirable power for Rumpel. It would also create a mechanism whereby beloved characters like Daniel, Peter, and Graham could potentially be restored to life. If it is true Emma really does have to die for everyone to return to FTL, this would be a way for the savior to be resurrected. These are simply my reflections on season one and the new development going into season 2.

In a recent interview with Jennifer Morrison, she said that since season 1 was about Emma's developing relationship with her son, then season 2 is going to bring a love interest into Emma's life. My theory is that it could either be August (if he's restored from a puppet to a man), Jefferson (with whom there was chemistry), or perhaps even Henry's dad.

In an interview, Jennifer Morrison gave a season 2 spoiler for Emma:
    http://uk.eonline.com/news/watch_with_kristin/once_upon_time_stars_dish_on_their/316579

“Season one, for Emma, it was about Henry, and season two is going to be about the idea of romantic love in her life—she’s never allowed that before,” she says. “And also exploring the relationship with her mother now that she knows who her mother is.” (Aka her same-generation roommate Mary-Margaret.)

Emma has experienced her fair share of love interests in season one, Sheriff Graham (Jamie Dornan) and August (Eion Bailey), but Jennifer isn’t sure who the lucky guy will be next season. She just knows he will be attractive. “They’re promising me these romantic things in season two, but I don’t know who or what or why or when!” she tells us. “I mean, look at all the men who have been on our show; they’re all pretty hot. I’m not too worried about Adam and Eddie finding some hot men. It’s like Jamie Dornan, Sebastian Stan and Josh Dallas…we have very attractive men on our show!”

My two cents: Emma will end up dating either Jefferson or August. Most likely, it’ll be August since I read Eion Bailey is going to be sticking around next season, whereas Sebastian Stan will likely just make guest appearances. Emma certainly has chemistry with both characters. Even though I think Archie would be a great father-figure for Henry, there hasn’t been any real chemistry between his character and Emma. Also, I’m really excited about Emma’s growing relationship with her parents and her son.

mia wrote: So the magic in FTL is mostly based on the fairy dust. Using the bottled love Rumple’s made it so that the magic in SB will be based on true love. That would make it even more powerful. Oh gods, I just realise why I would love that! It would prove my thought (way back when that bottled love episode came) that Rumple wanted the bottled love to get an even greater power!! Haha, that’d be cool, but back to business.

This is a totally off-the-wall theory, but I wonder if Rumpelstiltksin is trying to bring back Baelfire from the afterlife. In episode 16, we heard him say that whoever can bottle true love can do anything. Even though in FTL there are certain rules for magic, which we’ve heard both the genie and Rumpel repeat, this could be a total game-changer in that regard too. The magic created from true love is the most powerful of all. What if Rumpelstiltskin could bring back people to life, make people fall in love, and wish for more wishes? 😮

Even though Rumpel seems to know things since he designed the curse, he could not have planned for Emma to come to SB exactly on her 28th birthday. The show’s executive producers confirmed that he didn’t remember FTL until he met Emma in the pilot, so he couldn’t have planted the book for Henry to find and go looking for Emma. IMO, the only way Rumpel could have known Emma would return exactly on her 28th birthday is if he can see the future. Also, he had Prince Charming’s sword before Emma walked through his door as a true believer, which seems like more than a good guess. I do think Rumpel cares something for Henry since he was key in getting Emma to believe in the first place. Rumpel cared if Henry woke up because Emma had to kiss Henry for the dark curse to be broken, which he seems to have wanted so he could find Baelfire. In episode 8, Rumpel gave Emma the walkies-talkies to have fun with her boy since “they grow up so fast.” I think Rumpel may have been showing his humanity there as he was thinking of his own boy.
