Even if Merlin is dead in the present day (which he probably is), there is now a handy bag of McGuffin water that lets a person commune with the Dead (a la Merida and her dad).

As bad as it was, it could’ve been worse.

    1. At least Emma and Hook aren’t sharing a heart like Snowing.
    2. The thing that Emma and Hook share in common is the dark one curse. Hook isn’t the true king of Camelot. He’s the Dark One (*laugh or cry*).
    3. Dark One Hook threatens to hurt Emma like she hurt him. Yep, that’s not toxic. Even as the Dark One, Emma saved Hook’s life and this is how he repays her. Remember how well he did the last time he sought revenge.

I don’t see them having Emma plotting to kill a pregnant woman. If not for that part of it, I’d be totally OK with Emma plotting some revenge that would result in Zelena’s death. Maybe Emma can zap the fetus into Regina’s womb and then kill Zelena? #onlyhalfjoking

According to the synopsis for 5×8, Zelena’s pregnancy is about to accelerate by a lot. So I’m thinking it’s actually possible that Emma could kill Zelena this season.

Seriously though, uniting the blade means uniting the light and the dark, so I guess it makes sense if the combination of dark from Zelena and the light from the baby is the type of magical being that can get it done.

Something still doesn’t make sense to me: why Emma needs Z to use Merlin’s magic. Emma has both light and dark magic in equal measure. Anyway, now that we know Arthur used Zelena to tether Merlin to the sword hilt in Camelot, it seems reasonable to expect Emma will use Zelena to tether Hook to Excalibur. Or possibly, Emma will use Zelena to wield the magic of the apprentice’s wand.

    Zelena’s pregnancy mysteriously accelerates

Good grief! It’s like in Breaking Dawn.

What if Emma did that to Zelena and her unborn baby by several months, as a way to get Zelena to take the deal she offered?

If it means Emma gets to kill Zelena, then I’m in favor of it.

Yeah. Looking back, I get shivers when I realize Emma becoming the dark one may have been foreshadowed as early as 1×8.

I think Arthur’s motives are (at least 3-fold):

    (1) He’s concerned he’ll be discovered to be a fraud
    (2) He’s hungry for power and glory after he feels he was denied both by only having half a blade.
    (3) He wants revenge on Merlin, whom Arthur feels made a fool of him with his “false prophesies.”

I think most of all, Arthur wants to kill Merlin with Excalibur.

Or maybe because Hero! Rumple will win and snuff (twitch) out the darkness which has been Emma’s endgame all along. They basically gave it away this past week when she said something about using all that power for good.

You’re likely right. In Camelot, Emma did seem to question if she could be the one “to have the darkness, but use it for good, use it to protect people” but Merlin said not to let those thoughts tempt her.

Merlin: “someday perhaps there will be a person who’s worthy to hold that much power and not let it burn through to darken their soul.”

I predict that person isn’t Emma but Rumple, which Emma seems to have figured out in the present day. Emma said Rumple is “the purest hero who had ever lived” because his heart is a blank slate. She probably intends to use him to cut the magic and immortality from her the way Merlin intended.

However, why Emma as True Love incarnate, is unable to do so herself still has me scratching my head. It seems like Emma should be the one to save herself, as she did in 3×22. And why she needs Zelena to tether Hook to the sword doesn’t compute either. Hook is the one with the sword, so obviously, he’s not being controlled by anyone. So does Hook get the sword when he’s not supposed to? Or does Emma intentionally tether Hook to the sword in order for Rumple to defeat Hook, who now has the sword? It’s all so jumbled that something isn’t adding up. Probably, we need to see the context to make sense of it.

RumplesGirl worte: The new name appears on the sword and that person Hook fights Hero! Rumple

Even though I fully expect this to happen, I still don’t understand WHY.  To what end?

    Lily’s Review

    *Bless Lily*

So, an observation about 5×7 …

Remember when Hook took the credit for quieting Rumple’s voice in Emma’s head? Well, Emma shared her doubts with Merlin in 5×7.

Emma: When I was seeing Rumplestiltskin in my head, he said he would only be with me until I embraced my dark powers. So recently, I’ve been thinking maybe not seeing him, maybe that’s a bad thing.
Merlin: Have you embraced your powers?
Emma: I’ve done some dark things recently. I hurt someone… My son. And if I dig deep down… …the darkness is winning.

In Camelot, Emma seems to think the reason she doesn’t hear Rumple’s voice inside of her head anymore isn’t owing to Hook’s love but to the fact that the darkness is winning.

I think Emma tethers Hook to the sword and uses him to fight HeroRumple.
