As sad as it is, it’s not looking too good for August right now, unless by some miracle, Emma can save him via believing in magic. Also, I think Sidney has run out of utility for Regina. She did stick the blame on him for Kathryn’s abduction, but no one really believes that, not even Emma. I think he’s a weak character and so easily discarded.

No, August isn’t going to be predisposed to like Rumple. Not at all.

Just a note: It’s not a spoiler after the show has already aired, so no need to blacken out your post. Also, if August is Pinocchio (and I’m thinking he is), he has another reason to dislike Rumpel. Not only is August turning back into a puppet (so it appears), but he lost out on having a family with Geppetto, plus, Rumpel was responsible, via Jiminy, for turning Geppetto’s parents into puppets. That means Pinocchio’s grandparents are still puppets.

Yep, and I think August is going to be Pinocchio, sent to our world to look after baby Emma and to help break the curse.

The thought just occurred to me that if August/Pinocchio is working with Baelfire, he may have colored his hair from red to brown to conceal his identity and to trick Mr. Gold into believing he’s his son. As OnionGirl wrote, August did call Mr. Gold the correct name “Papa” that only Bae would have known to call him. That would explain why grown-up Pinocchio (aka August) lacks the red locks that young Pinocchio had in FTL.

Did anyone else get the impression that perhaps August and Baelfire were, somehow, working together? August knew exactly the right way to lead Mr. Gold on, what to call him, the picture of the dagger, etc. … he got that info from somewhere.

Yes, it did seem that way to me. The only issue I have with this theory is since Rumpel is centuries old and lost his son Bae long ago, Bae would have died in our world a long time ago (unless time works differently in our world). For example, in Narnia centuries pass there while only a few minutes pass here in our world.

Perhaps that green phone we saw August speaking on is a magic phone that lets you call to different worlds. If say, Baelfire were actually transported to a different world like Neverland, he might be able to communicate with August via that enchanted phone. Those boys fighting could be a nice reference to the lost boys. Also, Neverland would solve the issue of Baelfire never having to grow up. Next time Baelfire and Mr. Gold meet, perhaps Baelfire will still be a boy. Mr. Gold said regretfully to Emma in episode 8 that children grow up so fast. Perhaps Mr. Gold’s happy ending will be Bae not having grown up without a father, so that they’ll still have time together.

I was thinking that perhaps the magic bean took Bae, not to a world without magic, but to a land that kept him from aging, away from Rumpel. It was the price Rumpel had to pay for his dark magic.

@ weedith: Agreed. Based on the conversation Rumpel had with the Blue Fairy, he said he’d find a way to come to this world, a land without magic, even if it meant enacting a dark curse. He said he would and he did. Also, when he still believed August was Baelfire, Mr. Gold said to him he’d traveled all this way after all this time just to be with Bae.

Favorite moment: When Mr. Gold gleamed with satisfaction over Regina’s look of horror when she realized everything could be traced to her.

Least favorite moment: When Rumpelstiltskin let his cowardice prevent him from going with his son through the vortex.

Wow, so after tonight’s episode, we can say definitively that August is not Baelfire. I still think he’s a former puppet.

The two hairs the Rumpel collected from Snow White and Prince Charming seemed to combine into a double helix, leading some people to say that it was a true love potion. I’m wondering if the double helix was also the DNA for Emma herself. Back in episode 1, SW and PC went to Rumpel when he was imprisoned. Not only did he know she was expecting a girl, but so did SW, even though Prince Charming didn’t. How could Snow White have known the sex of her unborn child, since presumably, there was no ultrasound technology in FTL? My theory is that Rumpel at some point could have given SW, who perhaps had trouble conceiving the good old-fashioned way, the “true love potion” which resulted in her falling pregnant with Emma. That is how they both knew Emma would be a girl.

The mute servant is not Cinderella/Ashley. She is played by an actress new to OUAT, Christina Gooding. Cinderella is played by Jessy Schram. Different actress, different character. There is some speculation that the mute maid could be a certain mermaid that Regina referenced in episode 12.
