ParticipantThe article establishes is that Dr. Whale’s fairy-tale counterpart won’t be revealed this season, and that the Big Bad Wolf will be revealed in episode 15. I think this means that even though we’ll see the Big Bad Wolf in fairy-tale land in episode 15, viewers still won’t find out who he is in Storybrooke until next season. That sill leaves open the very real possibility that Dr. Whale is the Big Bad Wolf, and viewers will discover it later.
The summary for episode 15, Red-Handed: Emma hires Ruby to help her, and gives the woman a chance to determine what she's good at. Meanwhile, Emma questions David about his possible involvement in Kathryn's disappearance, while in the fairytale world, Red Riding Hood and her fellow villagers are trapped in their village by a bloodthirsty wolf.
Since Dr. Whale’s character appears in episode 15, I think his involvement with Ruby will become more evident. One thing we already know from previous episodes about Dr. Whale is that he was eying Ruby lustfully almost like a predator while he was on a date with Mary Margaret. Also, Dr. Whale lied to Mary Margaret about the results of David’s brain wave activity when she saw David move. Finally, Dr. Whale reported to Regina when David began to stir, suggesting the doctor is also a villain in fairy-tale world.

ParticipantA recent interview with the creators had this to say: “Is the relationship between Regina and Mr. Gold going to change? Naturally. ‘The thing that will be interesting is what the hell are they both up to,’ Kitsis said. ‘What’s Mr. Gold up to … why would somebody create a curse that they didn’t themself [sic] employ? That is a question we are going to answer this year.'”

ParticipantWith regards to my previous post here, I believe it is only a matter of time before Emma believes in the magic. I love this quotation from a recent interview, in which creator Edward Kitsis said of Emma: “We chose the name because it’s the metaphor for her journey, to become the swan. And right now I don’t think she is. The funny thing about Emma is theoretically, if she truly believed what’s going on, she’s a princess. But if you told Emma Swan she was a princess she’d … laugh at you.”

ParticipantEmma was a newborn baby when she left the land of fairy tales. So, I don’t think she would’ve had any memories of that place to recall upon drinking the water. Instead, I think the water may have granted her the ability to believe in magic since she is a fairy-tale princess after all.

ParticipantPerhaps the person who gave the book to Mary Margret is August? Just a guess.

ParticipantEven though I think David and Mary Margaret really do love each, I think the fact that they are both cursed means neither can break the spell. All of the characters from fairy-tale world, except for Emma (who escaped before it took hold), are cursed. My theory is that the hero of the story is the one who is unaffected by the curse: Emma. In fairy-tale world, the curse is broken by the non-cursed party: Prince Charming woke up Snow White, who was cursed when she ate the poisoned apple. Princess Katherine, with the help of Prince Charming, freed her love, Frederick, who was turned to gold by King Midas. Belle nearly freed Rumple by kissing him, until he rejected her advances. As the creators said, I think Emma is the key to breaking this particular curse. My reason for thinking so is she was never under the hold of the curse.

ParticipantI’m inclined to think there still is magic in Storybrooke, some of which was triggered upon Emma’s arrival in town. There are a lot of things to suggest this: the way the tower clock hands started moving when Emma decided to stay, the way an earthquake occurred at the exact same moment Emma put on her deputy badge to reveal Snow White’s glass coffin, the way David woke up when Mary Margret read him Henry’s book of fairy-tales, the way David’s mind was infiltrated with false memories when he looked at the wind mill in Mr. Gold’s shop, how Sheriff Graham remembered his true identity upon kissing Emma, the way Regina’s collection of hearts controls people like Sherif Graham and possibly Sidney, the way the compass started working when Hansel and Gretel were reunited with their father in Storybrooke, the way the wishing well may or may not have restored the pages that had been lost to Henry’s book. Granted, there may be a “natural” explanation for all of these events, as “Miss Skeptic” (a.k.a. Emma) would like to think, saying, “Magic…that’s asking a lot to believe on faith.” Yet, as August W. Booth said in episode 13, “If you need evidence for everything, Emma, you’re going to find yourself stuck in one place for a long time.” My prediction is that Emma, upon drinking the water, will have her belief in magic, which was lost to her when she was transported to our world, slowly restored to her. Once she believes, she’ll begin to play a more direct role in recovering the town’s magic.
