Haha, I LOVE people kind enough to do wallpaper sized pics/graphics, as it gives fans the best desktop wallpapers to choose from (although my current wallpaper is Legolas & Tauriel, my last was my fav CS wallpaper- which is fanmade 😉 )

Wish Fulfillment:
Basically, Adam and Eddy said this episode was “wish fulfillment”, and it’s been pointed out in several posts and replies that that’s kind of EXACTLY what the Emma/past!Hook stuff was all about.
Let’s break this down. Killian — present day Killian — tells Emma to keep his past self occupied. Emma doesn’t ask how she ought to go about doing that, nope, girlfriend just tosses aside her cloak and starts adjusting the girls. This is clearly a woman who has thought about this before, these are not the actions of someone who is “disgusted”, “scared”, or otherwise “uninterested” in the Captain.
In fact, I’d say it’s quite the opposite. As I pointed out in an earlier post, the whole scene with her and past!Hook was largely her living out a fantasy that she simply couldn’t do in real time, because in real time, things with Killian are complicated, things with Killian are rife with scary-as-*fudge* (for her, at the time) emotional complications. She can’t just kiss Killian and have it mean nothing, she can’t flirt with him and have it mean nothing, she can’t let herself give into all that sexual tension they have and have it mean nothing. With Killian, herKillian, in their own timeline, things are messy.
With past!Hook? None of that exists. So she gets to be free to do what she’d really do if it weren’t all complicated with feelings that, at the time, she wasn’t ready to face up to just yet. She enjoyed the hell out of her time with him, and you can clearly see that she likes him, all forms of him, in all times, and you can see how well they work, no matter what the situation. Also, though she’s been warned that he’s the scary pirate captain that she needs to be afraid of, but she never is. Her line “we both know I’m his type” is more telling than it first appears. Because she knows who he truly is, and she knows that she’s not in any danger with him, that she never has been.
That’s part of the gig, that’s the whole True Love schtick of it all, which Killian hints at later, when he says that had he remembered any of that night, he would’ve gone after her.
But in all honesty, the sequence of scenes with past!Hook was there to show us that Emma is not nor has she ever been, uninterested in him. It’s just that she wasn’t ready to face up to all the other feelings that went along with the base needs. Because with Killian, it’s not just about sex, and it’s not just about getting along, or being in love, and it’s not just about being kindred spirits … it’s about all of those things, all rolled into one, and it’s hard to accept all of that when you’ve had a lifetime of none of it.

@callmeLola that little fanfic alone had me wanting mooooooore dang it & I dont usually read fanfic (I dont like to confuse anyone else’s version of characters with the actual writers/creators versions lol)… but that little gem needs to be read- it;s just perfect!
~Killian and Emma both still in front of Granny’s before they go back inside at the end of 3×22~
“Do you know what else I missed?” She pulled away from his kiss, forehead resting gently against his.
“What’s that, Swan?” He breathed, eyes half moons, hazy with love lust.
“This.” She kissed him again, softly. “When I was kissing you – past you – it was like being with you but not really. Just like with my parents. At first it was easy to pretend I wasn’t me and it was a different you.” She stroked the back of his head, fingers playing with the tufts of his hair at the base of his neck. “But I knew it wasn’t really you. And that hopefully you wouldn’t remember that bar wench. But then I hated that you didn’t know me and that it wasn’t us.” Emma held his gaze as a small smile tugged at his lips.
“But everything else in the Enchanted Forest – the real us – working together and just, all of it – it was so easy.”
“Well I wouldn’t say it was all easy.” He chuckled, “We met a few obstacles.”
“That’s not what I mean. I mean being with you was easy.”
“I told you, Love, we make a quite the team.”His hand stroked her jaw, twirling the strands of hair in his fingers.
“But we’re not just a team, Killian.” She smiled and leaned into him again, pressing her lips against his because now she finally could without anything holding her back, mostly herself.
It was everything she always wanted and had been too afraid to let herself have. And it was easy, they just fit perfectly together. She remembered him comforting her after she thought her mother just died, him leading her around the dance floor, and just being by her side every step of the way. Always there to hold her and catch her and even try to rescue her. But he’d always been by her side. Ever since he came back to Storybrooke to help them go after Pan, he’d been at her side dutifully.
She pulled away again and looked into his beautiful blue eyes that she could finally admit to herself make her more than a little yearn.
“We’re home,” she breathed, lightly brushing his exposed chest, placing her hand just over his heart
Right… I want to do yet another re watch LOL….. heaven help me 😉 I wont even devulge where I lost count of the number of times I’ve watched the kiss- It’d probably be considered right up there in the “unhealthy” number of times category lol 😉
Now I have to run off, feed out & chuck my babies winter cover on (it’s finally getting a bit chilly at night YAAAAAY I LOVE winter 😀 ), but when i’m back I’ll read all the links people have recommended/ posted before dinner …cant wait to read others takes on this wonderful ep/movie 🙂

Sooooo I know I have been slack & havent posted my thoughts on the episode per say…. I just cant gather my thoughts enough to do so if Im honest- thats not to say I havent thought about the ep/movie a lot & dont have them, because I have & do lol- I just cant get them out & into a coherent order that makes any sense is all lol & I’ll be honest- I’d give Kat a run for her money on longest post if I tried hard to do so LOL :p 😉
But I do want to talk about 2 things now- 1 has been so well said by another person I will quote their thoughts (since they match mine exactly!) & there is no way I could say it any better, the 2nd/other hasnt been brought up, but I’ll do my best to do what i’m thinking justice there as well….. this will be long!!!!!
1st ….
Alright so I really need to talk about this scene. Now I’m going to point out the obvious and say that when Killian asked if she cared about anyone in the town, he was referring to himself, and that Emma knew that he was, or at least, I personally believe that she did.
Because her ‘of course I care’ wasn’t defensive. It wasn’t angry or contemptuous or anything of the sort. That reply was one thing, and one thing only: reassuring.
Because for a split second, because of how eagerly Emma wanted to leave Storybrooke, and by extension, him, Killian believed that she didn’t care about him, not in a romantic way, not in a platonic way, zilch. He was at the point where he thought that she felt nothing for him.
But then Emma takes one look at his face, sees that things just turned personal, sees the doubt there and reassures him, she tells him that she does care about him, obviously not in so many words and not in specifics, but her tone said everything that she wasn’t.
And then we have Killian’s face after she says ‘of course I care’. He literally looks like he’s holding back tears, I mean he even swallows a lump in his throat. That’s how much Emma leaving him is destroying and despite how sad this is, it’s a truly beautiful and under appreciated scene in the finale, because Killian has reassured Emma countless times since he met her. Every time she was vulnerable he was there, building her back up again. But this is the first time we see that the roles are reversed.
I think what people forget is that Killian has walls almost as high as Emma. It’s so rare that he needs to be comforted by other characters or seeks emotional assistance. But here, Killian is the vulnerable one, the one who needed reassuring and Emma was able to provide it. He looks into her eyes after she replies with her reassurance and he drops her gaze because it just struck him how he’d let his own walls down and that caused a different type of intensity between Emma and Killian that we haven’t seen before.
The 2nd point.
I LOVED how this (point 1) is brought up again just before our beyond fantastic kiss outside Granny’s (no wonder they blocked that scene from the public! 😉 ). Here Killian isnt sure at all if Emma really feels for him as he does for her- I mean he knows she feels ‘something/cares about him’, but he doesnt know if she will ‘let him in’. He is hesitant still here to reveal just how much he has given up for her, as he doesnt know, nor want to force her hand.
In this moment he’s not sure where he stands with her, his pain over not knowing if Emma considers him her “family” keeps him from going in & being apart of the family reunion/naming party, again he gives Emma the space she needs to come to her own conclusions (& again it is at his own cost)- even after everything they’ve just been through together (yet again), he’s still used to Emma backing off & away from love/happiness & this we see has hit home- will she be ‘warm, open Emma’ from their adventure or ‘cold, closed off Emma’ post adventure. This is kind of borne out by the fact Emma searches him out & says “…Everything besides our little adventure would go back to normal”– not exactly something Killy is hoping for at that stage, he’d rather Emma not go back to her “normal” ‘cold, closed off post adventure self’ 😉 .. hence the other side of his “Everything’s back to normal…” sentence, then as always he lifts Emma up with “you’re a bloody hero Swan”. He NEEDS her to feel good about herself, no matter how she feel may or may not feel about him.
Things only really change when Emma returns with “So are you. I wanted to thank you Killian”. her tone & manner change as she says this,she wants him to know that she appreciates what he’s done for her & as soon as she say’s his name, she grabs his attention- I think you can almost see the hope rising in him at that point. She continues on- all the while trying to maintain eye contact with him:
Emma “For coming/going back for me in the 1st place in NY, if you hadnt…”
Killy “It was the right thing to do”– here we see Killy insisting Emma doesnt “owe” him anything for comeing back for her- he doesnt want her to owe him anything, in any way at all.
Then we take a beat here to see Emma process, then ask what has been on her mind since he brought her back….
Emma “”How did you do it? How did you get to me?” I think in this moment Emma truly knows he wouldnt have committed an evil/bad act to get back to her & she is truly curious as to how he could have possibly returned to a land without magic, without magic & it goes to show how much he/ that act in itself had been on her mind (it’s the 3rd time SHE has brought it up directly in 11eps & the 6th or 7th time it has been talked about in as many eps), she has obviously been rolling the idea around in her head for sometime. The fact she continues to be the one trying to maintain eye contact with him, allows him to hope she is open enough to ‘hear’ the story now.
Killy “Well, the curse was coming. I ditched my crew & took the JR as fast & as far as I possibly could to our run it”
Emma “You out ran a curse?!” * Impressed & surprised*
Killy “I’m a hell of a captain”
Emma: *smiles & chuckles* Which gives Killy the confidence to continue on with the story
Killy “& Once, I was outside of the curses purview. I knew that the walls were down, transport between the worlds was possible again, all I needed was a magic bean”
Emma “those are not easy to come by”
Killy “they are, if you’ve got something of value.. to trade” Voice drops off, as he isnt exactly sure how this next bit will go down- which way Emma will go with her response.
Emma “& what was that”– IMO here she was thinking what treasure/loot did he give up to get the bean… She never would have guessed at his level of sacrifice for her… his home.
Killy “Why the Jolly Roger of course”, the mask & smile he puts on to cover the pain of that sacrifice is noble as hell- i mean he doesnt want Emma to feel “bad” in any way if she takes it how she usually would & runs, again Killy is putting Emma’s emotional needs above his own, he made his choice, come what may & he is leaving Emma free to make of it what she will.
Emma *look of total shock & awe* “You traded your ship for me?”
Killy “Aye” The depth of that sacrifice is easy to read on his face now IMO.
Back to Emma’s awed & now staggered expression- I think in that moment she really “got” that Killy not only will go to the ends of the earth, cross realms/worlds & time for her, stand by her no matter what, risk his life for her or Henry, but that he literately has given all he has in the world for her, his home, his one constant…ALL for her well being & not once has he told her how much he has given up for her, committed to her, in an effort to win her love without walls, without influencing her decision in anyway. Everything he has done this season has been for her- whether she knew it or not, at his expense & she finally got to see that, acknowledge that & you know what….for me that was FAR & AWAY a much bigger pay off than TLK could have ever been. Emma accepting Killian’s love without walls 🙂
Just that whole scene-Killian’s despair that Emma may have gone back to “normal” & have walls up again now she was home, after getting so close to her (again) during their adventures, his hope when she was acting open & warmly towards him, the reserve & hesitation still lingering as they talked & the awe & hope right before that magical sweet kiss in them both.
Then the voice over while they are kissing, describing Emma’s & Killy’s relationship journey “I was an enemy of love. Love had only brought me pain. My walls were up. But you broke them down. You brought me home.”

Speaking of Ouat minions, I saw this this morning at it made me laugh!

And every time there is a showdown he goes straight for Hook, muttering about warm hugs while trying to wrap his little twig arms around Hook’s legs. And stabbing him with his carrot nose. And Hook develops an irrational fear of snow because literally every single battle Olaf goes straight for him and Emma thinks it’s hilarious that he is afraid of a snowman. That reaches his knees. Barely.
(And when Hook wakes up in the morning and climbs out of bed next to Emma and pulls back the curtains, Olaf is there – and he slides his little twig fingers across his throat.)

After watching the finale the last time it just struck me again how much CS truly are TIMELESS. They met in present day EF and then continued their relationship in present day SB – but their relationship has always been greatly affected by both of their pasts. But even BEFORE they met, at the exact moment Emma was being and getting ready to be sent through the wardrobe to be protected from the curse, Killian was being surrounded by Cora’s protection spell so he wouldn’t be affected by the curse. And he was told that in 28 years there would be a Savior who come along and break the curse – he acts shocked and angry that he will have to wait 28 years but Cora assures him it won’t be a big deal because he will be frozen in time. He was frozen in time FOR EMMA – they were destined for each other from the exact moment she was bring brought into the world and he was being protected from the curse FOR HER.
I want to marry this part of your post! It’s so wonderfully true! I cant believe we never thought of that before!
