Hook was not originally meant to be a recurring, but audience response helped garner O’Donoghue billing as a season regular quickly.
It doesnt take more than 30secs to confirm this isnt the friggn case with a quick google search :/
I mean seriously… how does fan reaction figure into his being made a regular when he was made a regular weeks BEFORE ever appearing on the friggn show?!?!?!
The announcement was made on Oct 4th, Hook wasnt on our screens until Oct 21st!Once Upon a Time newcomer Colin O’Donoghue has been promoted to a series regular before even appearing on the show.
The actor, who plays Peter Pan villain Captain Hook in ABC’s fairytale drama, will be promoted for the second half of season two, Entertainment Weekly reports.
O’Donoghue was absent from Once Upon a Time’s season premiere, which aired in the US last Sunday (September 30), and will not make his debut as Hook until October 21 episode ‘The Crocodile’.
UGH! I can see much more pointing out of the same facts, defending against fan pandering in my future *sigh*

Ok, so here’s my all over the place thoughts on the episode- Not gonna lie, wasnt looking forward to the content of this episode very much, but I again Loved it, plot holes & all 😉
Soooo, do I understand this correctly… Belle’s mother risked Belle’s life & died to save books from Ogres? Umm- What were those books about that made them worth not only risking her own life, but that of her only daughter as well? Is that being a hero or just stupid… Dont get me wrong, I love books…. but dead is dead- like there isnt usually a 2nd chance once you die & she didnt have magic or weapons- I assume… so how exactly did she manage to hold off an ogre? …wait… do ogres even read? Like do they even care about what a book is *has hilarious image of a big bad ogre trying desperately to turn just a single page, in a tiny, little (to him) fairy tale book he’s trying to read, with his massive finger… *snort* (It was probably a prophecy about Emma come to think of it :p )
Anybody else get the feeling Rumple took Belles memories at the bequest of her father ….Snow was so sweet, enraptured at seeing her daughter as a little kid for the 1st time (Emma better keep a close eye on that tape or Snow is going to snatch it, me thinks lol), rather than seeing the ‘big picture’ of evil Snow Queen as her foster mother LOL!!! I have to admit I love how touched Snowing are at all things Emma, this season <3 😉
LOL, at Henry being the one to point out the ice cream truck- typical kid right there 😉 & quite possibly the only one present who’s ever used the thing lol.
Wow, Belle falling for Rumple makes so much more sense now given the context of what her father is like- control freak much o.O
Couldnt believe Belle lying at 1st, but understand it after Snow Queen cave/mirror events. It explains the weird look on her face all season, she knew exactly where Anna was & why Elsa couldnt find her. Was great to get a bunch of Belle back story & enjoyed pairing Belle & Anna together for their little Rock Troll adventure- very cute.
Rumple, Rumple, Rumple *shakes head*… so to keep your dirty big (because it isnt little) secret, you are willing to let Belle endanger herself by trying to confront the Snow Queen?!?! Grinds teeth.. Seriously?!
Was fully expecting ice-Anna to pop back up at all the “Belle!” shouting, so it was cool to get ‘magic mirror Belle’ instead…Belle in the mirror was just creepy- totally got a “Host” vibe off of those creepy, creepy eyes lol & what made it sooooooooo much worse was that everything it said regarding Rumple, was all shades of true…. so whats the deal with it, why did it make her go ‘evil’ after wards- still not 100% sure on what it does exactly… which is no surprise given we’re dealing with a subtle Snow Queen.
Why in the love of all that’s green didnt Belle wonder why Rumple was still able to hold onto her after telling him to “Let me go” 3 times????? Should that have been the 2nd question on her lips after how did you come in here after me if this is the real dagger?!?
Belle’s horror at herself with cutting Rumple was heart breaking.
UGH!!! Rumple, you lying little imp you, lies! More lies!!!! But what makes it worse is he’s the one taking advantage of Belle… on. every. single. level. now…just BAH! >:(
Yes, I know plot- but still…. with the lying & manipulation… As Mushu would say- That’s it Rumple! “Dishonor! Dishonor on your whole family! Dishonor on you, dishonor on your cow, dis…”The rock trolls are still awesome- can understand how we didnt get much in the way of Once promotion out side of Frozen banners, they have really spent some decent money of CGI this season & it’s paid off BIG TIME! 🙂
Snow Queen + Anna = all sorts of awkward lol. But what? …. So in essence, Anna actually created the events that lead to whatever has happened to her? If she’d simply asked Snow Queen what was up, would it have turned out differently….. Damn, I’m loving Snowy- she rocks lol

LOL- Love the look on Emma’s face as Killian passes her & their eyes linger on each other, then Emma has to shake her head a little LOL.
Also worth mentioning that Captain Guyliner trended worldwide during the episode 😉 I LOVE Regina when she’s in sassy snark mode & I defy anyone to find a bigger CS shipper than Regina Bahahahahaha.Loved Killian’s “She’s cleared out the vessel” & Emma’s ‘we have to work on your modern man speak’ expression lol :p
Killian busting the padlock with his hook was a nice touch- proof his hook can be used for good 😉
Emma deepens her faith & trust in Killian, choosing him to discuss the file of stuff with…. I see many a fanfic being written involving that hook smashing locks from this day forth lol 😉Gonna admit it- I’m back to enjoying/loving Regina again this ep- Loved how selfless she was telling Robin to put her side & find away to love Marian….. big points to Regina’s growth right there- at least she has been genuinely trying to help him. I still am a bit peeved off at her after last ep- that just wasn’t cool- in any way shape or form, but if Emma can build a bridge & be the bigger person- so can I 😉
& now to fangirl over our villains 😉 :p LOVE Rumple & Snow Queen’s interaction- *chills* Those 2 are super villains at their best- reserved, understated, quiet & calculated. I just love the respect, weariness & even ‘fear’ they have for one another (& god help me, a sparkly hat of all things lol). I want more on their history & I want it BAAAAAAAD. It amazes me that the DarkOne would have so much respect & weariness for someone else & it makes me wonder just what Snow Queen is capable of, because I dont think we’ve seen just how dangerous she really is yet. The fact Rumple feels the need to pull out his magical vacuum hat in order to try threaten her enough to back off Belle, is well…. it says a lot about just how powerful & dangerous she really is IMO & I LOVE it.
Of all the villain’s to date, Snow Queen is the most interesting for me, she comes off as this nice, kind lady working in the ice cream store & then 6eps in we still dont know exactly what she’s capable of (like did she kill her sister, did she freeze her accidentally, did they try to take her magic or what?) nor how far she’s willing to go to get whats she wants, but we know Rumple/DarkOnce respects the hell out of her & is weary, if not fearful of her & what she’s capable of, which makes her 10shades more scary than any of the others to date.
Cora, was… well, she was heartless (literally), evil & failed at being subtle about it (like she could have had neon lights that flashed “evil” on her forehead & it wouldnt have been a shocker to all but sheltered little kids)- I loved to hate her, but there was no doubting Cora & her motives- they werent good & you had zero doubt about her.
Pan, boy…. kid… teen …. man… lets go with ‘dude’, was just a lil…lot messed up & twisted, but subtle he was not- no award was given for figuring out his motives werent for the good of anyone but he, himself & his shado… nope, doubt he worried about what was best for his shadow at all- just he & himself. It didnt take a genius to see he was evil all over 😉
Zelena, Zelena, Zelena… she was pure ott villian, bat poop crazy on a lit firecracker- she was fun, she was seriously unbalanced & she was super creepy from the get go, but she was anything but subtle about her motives & why …. & seriously, no one wondered about the honking great emerald she had around her neck at ALL times, while they were looking for the Wicked Witch…. from Oz….. the place with an entire “emerald” city?!? LOL :p
So yeah, Snow Queen wins ‘villain of the series to date’ award with me- just because she’s like a spider in a web, just when they think they have her figured out, they’ll find she has then snared…. & I LOVE that! 😉 Style, Snow Queen has style… & skills- mad evil skills.HAHA, next favorite line of the ep:
Killian “Well, spend a little more time in this town love & you realize, just about everyone is related” LOL- thank god someone other than us noticed :p
Also loved Killian letting his pirate slip again …. I wonder just how many blondes he tracked down in NY before he found Emma LMAO… I also wonder just how many of those blondes decided they’d quite like to be whoever this ‘Emma’ he was looking for is, thank you very muchly 😉 Emma’s look at his comment was priceless “wait, what now- you cheeky beggar” lol & Killian’s returning scalawag expression was perfect- oh how I love his eyebrows LOL.
Also loved that they made a point of showing us Killian keeping an eye on a shell shocked Emma- dude loves his Swan more than anything else on earth or any… realm… anywhere <3
One of the best things with JMo & Colin is their ability to say everything, without ever opening their mouths- hats off to them, they are superb actors! Whether it be highly emotional scenes or light, comical scenes, they nail it every time <3So, I wonder just how close to the mark we will be once the mirror shards of doom are unleashed upon the folk of SB- will Snow Queen have a/some special shards up her sleeves for Killian & Snowing since she wants Emma in particular? Will Rumple be able to protect himself from a shard- since he seemed so concerned about Belle getting … sharded (The craziness of ‘serious’ Once conversations never fails to amaze me lol)
Why havent we seen Colin filming with everyone else lately… will he get a “special” shard of doom… Will Rumple try use Killian as cannon fodder for Snow Queen, since she wants Emma so badly & Rumple wants Belle ‘safe’….. & Who on earth.. or EF… FTL writes these darn prophecies?!…. like is there a seers office, where seers just sit around making random stuff up to screw with people named Emma, that people just go to, to collect “Emma” prophecies or something? Seriously I’d be changing my name if I was Emma- I’d go for something either totally random like “Squiggielum” (I mean when even google doesnt argue that Squiggielum is a miss spelling of something- you know you’re ‘safe’ namewise lol) or totally generic like “Jane” & then be like “Nope, not Emma, sorry” :pJust a quick pop in between clients this morning (had to share this!)

All the CS stuff we’ve gotten in the first five episodes this season has been amazing. There is no other word for it. I was watching a fan vid earlier and thinking about the season three finale and that seems like it was years ago because so many wonderful things have happened since then.
I’m so proud of Emma and the growth that she’s shown. She told Killian in the finale that she wanted to stop running and she’s stuck to that. She’s letting him in emotionally in a way that she never has before – the scenes with the box from her past were so good because she was at her most vulnerable point and he asked her to show him and she did because she trusts him that much.
The casual intimacy – the flirty glances, the kiss on the cheek, the teasing with her parents before and after the date, the way she let him hold her after the ice castle – the way she laced their fingers together – she’s come so far in a short amount of time because he’s proven to her again and again that he’s not like everyone else, he’s not going to leave her or hurt her, at least not on purpose,ever.
Killian has been amazing, continuing to be her rock and follow her lead, but he’s also stepped up too. In the premiere and again in 4×03, he called her out for pushing him away and pushed for answers. Then when she told him her fears (another major step for Emma), he reassured her that he’s a survivor and he’s not going anywhere and he’s continued to show up for her again and again. He went out of his comfort zone for their date – changing his clothes and going to Rumple to get his hand back because he wanted to hold her with both hands if that was what she wanted.
Obviously the hand thing backfired and I’ve said before that I’m a little on the fence about this plot because I don’t want a repeat of the cursed lips story, but I have faith this is going to work out differently, even if it is a little too contrived. That being said, I think it’s ultimately going to bring them closer and give Emma a chance to show him that she believes in him and she doesn’t need him to be anything he’s not. She knows about his past and the man he was and she doesn’t care because she also knows the man he is – the man who’s been good to her and her son and her parents and who’s been by her side through all this craziness.
(Putting spoiler-y/speculation under the cut).
As far as moving forward, we know the other shoe has to drop because things have been too good for them. And I’ve said a few times that episode 4×05 doesn’t match up to where we left off in 4×04 as far as Killian’s behavior goes, but I wonder if that’s intentional. In season three, after Zelena cursed him, he put distance between them and wallowed in his mistakes. Maybe he’s not doing that now because he learned his lesson and won’t push Emma away again. But the truth is still going to come out and I feel like he’s going to get backed into another corner before he confesses. But I do think it’ll be different this time. Emma’s not going to stop trusting him – she might be mad and hurt, but she’s not going to turn her back on him or push him out of her life. If anything, she’ll call him an idiot and tell him again that she doesn’t care about the past.
From filming spoilers and the synopsis for 4×08, we know Emma’s going to lose control of her magic and consider letting Rumple take it away and Killian will attempt to stop her. I think that’s going to be a big deal because he’s always been the person who helps her most with her magic and talks her down when she feels like she can’t do something or her magic is a burden (paralleling Anna and Elsa). I think we could potentially get some really great scenes in this episode and maybe even an ‘I love you’ from Killian because he’s implied it, but never actually said the words to her and I think this could be one of those ‘I love every part of you because it’s who you are’ kind of things and I also think we’ll have the flipside of that when she learns the reason he became indebted to Rumple in the first place – whether it comes out before or after this episode.
Ultimately, I think by the time 4A winds down, CS is going to be in a really great place emotionally and they’ll be stronger than ever…and then 4B will bring in new obstacles because that’s how the show rolls.
