I really hope when Emma finally tells Hook that she loves him, it isn’t under a moment of duress. I really want it to happen naturally without anything traumatic going on. Also, I don’t want her to say, ‘I love you Hook’ I hope she says, ‘I love you Killian.’

[adrotate group="5"]I don’t know about TLK, but I don’t see them falling in love this episode. For some reason though, my intuition keeps flagging episode 19 (A curious thing) as a possibility. It doesn’t necessarilly mean TLK, but my gut says there’s going to be something. I’ve nothing to back it up with and could be wrong, but….let’s just call it a feeling. As for how Emma will fall in love with Hook: Emma is blinded right now. She’s blinded by her walls, which are comprised of two things: Fear, and caution which come from recent events, and her perception of normal as developed since childhood. She never had any stability. She always had to depend on herself. She’s never learned to completely trust anybody. Something will have to disrupt her foundation; her world view, and shake her perception of normality for these walls to come down. They might never come down, completely. Remember: When people fall in love with someone, they don’t just give them their heart. They accept a vulnerability with an acceptance of that person being worth the risk that they might get hurt. Emma’s walls are why for now, for her to fall in love with Hook, she will need to make herself vulnerable. For her to do that, I think will take something shocking, or drastic; at least, at this point. People don’t just say okay, you win, let down their walls, kiss, and walk away holding hands while birds sing. No, her foundation needs to be shaken, and her world view disrupted. Why do I know this? I am a foster parent. I have learned a lot, and having spoken to other parents about older children, have learned about attachment issues which develop after years of no stability. It’s not just a matter of not wanting to have relationships. Remember: Emma was a foster child her whole life. she probably never really learned how to develop or maintain long-term relationships. When she was ready to try that with Neal, she got her heart broken (and Walsh ended up being a flying monkey. Remember how hesitant she was, when Walsh asked for her hand in marriage? She trusted Walsh to a point, but her hesitation, if it was in any part due to her superpower, was mostly due to what a “marriage” would represent to her, and the part of herself she’d have to give up; the walls she’d put up became an object of security for her, and that meant loosing some of that. Her wall was fortified even more, when she learned walsh was someone she couldn’t trust. That’s why she’s so cold toward Hook. She doesn’t dislike him, but she doesn’t trust him, either. She can’t. Not yet. Emma is a very intelligent and beautiful lady with a lot of street smarts, but in many ways, is still a child herself. That’s why one of two things will need to happen for her to become receptive to a long-term relationship. It will need to be a slow-burn (which in a real-world setting can take years), or something drastic will need to happen, which would be traumatic enough to shake her perception of reality. Sorry, long post, and I know a lot of it may seem redundant, but I hope my point comes across well.
Great post. I totally get your point as well & agree with you (which is part of why I’m willing to cut her slack for the way she’s been treating Killy of late- if it continues into S4 in a big way I might get a little sick of it, but for now I understand why she is doing whats she’s doing). Another point is, Emma probably uses it as a means to intimidate & chase off guys as well, it’s another defense mechanism- Killy isnt someone she can have a meaningless one night stand with (or she wouldnt bother with the barbs- they’d be friends with benefits & thats all- no deeper emotional attachments required), he’s temptation island for her getting/having what she really wants- so she tries to wound him to chase him off of ‘going there’ & tempting her with something she wants- but has blown up in her face twice already, so she feels she cant have.

I agree @jenna_b ‘old’ Henry, when he found out that Emma lied him, didn’t speak to her for four episodes and was really mean to her about the lie. I’m not sure ‘new’ Henry would have such a temper tantrum this time, he’ll be upset but at least when it comes to his dad, he’ll understand because he’ll still have his ‘cursed’ memories in addition to his old ones.

I don’t think TLK will happen this episode unless something serious happens to Hook because I don’t think Emma is there yet. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hook tells Emma he loves her. He has said/done all but say those words exactly so that would be the last possible thing he could really do. I picture her finding out about his last year and asking the stupid question “why would you do that?” and he gets PO’d and is like “bloody hell Swan! Isn’t it obvious?!?! Because I love you!” and then maybe we get a kiss (not TLK though because Emma is unsure of her full feelings) or we don’t really get anything except Emma finally letting down that last wall and seeing Hook objectively and thus moving forward from there. My hope is that at the very least we get Emma over that last hurdle internally this episode so we can really start moving forward. One question that I had after re-watching the last episode is Zelena’s comment to Emma about her being an amateur. If she really felt that Emma wasn’t a threat why did she go through all that trouble to set the Walsh trap with Emma in NYC?

I agree with you here as well & it wouldn’t surprise me if this is what we get.
I think the only way Emma would finally accept her feelings for Hook is when Hook’s life would be in trouble. She will realize his value in her life once his life is threatened by someone or something. Remember in Dark Hollow, when Hook was taken by the shadow, Emma screamed for Hook’s name in fear of him getting hurt. I think her true feelings for him will only resurface once Hook is in trouble. I hope not though. I think a TLK on Sunday is too early. I am thinking a but further than that episode.
Agree with you on Emma & feelings as well- it is also like the time she told Neal she “loved” him- she said it because thought she’d never see him again. The next time she saw him, she “had no choice” but to confess the truth of her feelings- ‘I love who’ turned into ‘I may love you, but I hoped you were dead, as you cause me too much pain & I just want to move on from that’. So Emma’s base emotions come out in the ‘omg, I gonna loss him/them’ (because Emma’s “Mom, Dad” is no different either). But we dont get the full picture (if she’ll open up to it or not) until after that ‘moment’ of stress has past.
I got a question for you guys, what do you think of the likelihood that we might get an I love you from Emma or True Love’s kiss next episode?

Doubt the I love you from Emma- way to soon IMO- unless she is forced into it by circumstance… & even then I’m not sure she’s had enough time to get over everything else that’s happened yet.
TLK, again I cant see it being a’natural’ progression of the story from where we’ve left off since curse 2.0 IMO. Emma has no intention of getting into a relationship atm (even A&E have stated this recently)- she feels that isnt something she as savior can have (No wonder she feels NY would be a better option than Henry getting his memories back & then deciding- it’s probably the only place she thinks she maybe able to have that eventually). So I cant see her just kissing him for the sake of it, it’d have to be for some very emotional reason (like last time)- maybe IF she finds out what he gave up to come rescue her, then maybe there will be a TLK, but at this stage it’s probably more likely she’ll be over whelmed & back off again- that seems to be the holding pattern she’s locked into when it comes to Killian atm lol 😉 :p

But the submit tab is doing funky things- sometimes it takes me random places rather than submitting my posts- like this morning it kept taking me to the podcast page??????????
