There is an alternative method if this isn’t working for you. Step by step 1) Highlight, with your mouse the section of the post you wish to quote 2) Right click and select copy 3) Come down to your text box and select the block quote button (looks like two giant quote marks, next to the I and the strike through) 4) Paste in the text you want to quote 5) Add in the spoiler tags to the quote at the front and the end as normal 6) Hit enter to move down and unclick the QUOTE box. This will let you type out your response without being in the quote.

In case you hadn’t noticed, I suck at asking for help- I dont like putting people out at all & you have a plently to do as it is! But the bright side is, when I do figure it out…. eventually- I never forget how to do it again & also know a zillion ways how not to do it too 😉 )

I can already tell this is going to work as I’m a GIANT IDIOT & was totally clicking the strike through tab, not the friggn block quote tab! (If it doesnt work, I’m digging a hole to go lay in for a few days lol). I’m totally ashamed of my brain, If I could send him to time out for this mess, I would! At least there wont be 10 pages full of my attempts now! lol

Ok, I will give it another shot @Obisgirl…. not gonna lie though, if it doesnt work, I will feel like a total idiot lol (this spoiler quote blocking has become my arch-nemesis, darn it- I want to win, but it just isnt happening 😉 )

Thanks @HappyEndings, I already know how to do ‘normal’ spoiler blocking, I was wanting to be able to spoiler block peoples ‘spoiler’ quotes.
As it can sometimes get hard to follow posts when the quoted ‘spoiler blocked’ posts, arent in the quote bubble, nor do i want to quote spoiler containing posts & not be able to spoiler block them, as it makes RumpleGirls life much harder than it needs to be.
Just do it the way you did it with me at least it’s blocked out lol
Yes, I think I will be- I still cant believe I couldnt get such simple instructions to work though- that threw me for a mega loop lol

I tired doing as you instructed to the letter Eala- didnt work, so I tried 8 other variations of your instructions- in case I was miss reading something & still no spoiler blocked quote box- I cant figure out how I’m cocking up such simple instructions ugh!
I’m off to go immerse myself in my 1st love- complex genetic inheritance, at least ‘GG,Gg is caused by 4.6-kb duplication in intron 6 of STX17, which encodes syntaxin 17’, makes total sense to me! I need to not feel so stupid 😉
But it didn’t work??? It’s not in a white quote box. My method is
- quote something
- replace quote (+numbers) with “spoiler” in the square brackets
- then click on the very start of the sentence (click beside the first square bracket)
- then press “blockquote” which is next to the italic button in your writing box
Try it!!!
Ok either I was SUPER sleep deprived, or the quote box vanished- I was so sure it came up in the the quote box when I did it :/ weird!

edit …. Nope still doesnt work, I also tried to remove the numbers, closing the brackets & adding spoiler code, but it still wouldnt block spoilers in quote- it’s got me stumped! I cant figure out how you guys manage to spoiler block quotes like you do :/
