I was thinking about what some folks from the other camps have been saying about Killian/Hook & what they think of CSer’s for liking our ship …. honestly guys, who cares what they think?!- Dont buy into it, of course some septic shippers from other camps are going to try make our ship dirty- they dont want it to happen….. at all (which is a natural thing for them to want if they ship something else) & that’s their problem. If you feel the need to respond, maybe just Laugh at their comment/s & leave it at that, they’ll eventually stop if their septic comments aren’t taken seriously or totally ignored. It’s sometimes like I’ve accidentally walked into the wrong thread, with all the vehement arguments for our ship that randomly pop up here lol. I dont think any of us CS shippers here feel that Neal is the better of Emma’s 2 options, so it stands to reason we will agree with arguments against Neal being the ‘better’ man for her 😉
All that matters is that we love our ship & we have valid reasons for believing it will not just happen, but be endgame…. so honestly dont buy into the rubbish IF it’s thrown at you, Once & our ship is meant to be a positive thing, not a negative thing 🙂
I’m not talking about valid questions here either- ie. PoM’s question/s got some good discussion going- which was nice, so those sorts of things (as others have already said) are actually fun & thought provoking, so are a positive thing to include in our discussions.
I really like that (at least here), our ship doesn’t seem to be overly sensitive or defensive about answering these kinds of questions about our ship & I’m proud of us for that 🙂

So I think Hook didn’t want to: Be alone with a fighting Snow & Charming Leave Emma alone with Neal to give him the upper hand but more importantly Make sure things were ok between all 3 of them instead of leaving Emma alone to take the blame for what Hook revealed in the cave

Gotcha PriceOfMagic – my reading of his interaction with Neal, I’ve mostly already explained- they are very different people now, which to me explains his manner & as to what he said & why, I feel that is exactly how Killian explained it to Emma- he thought Neal had heard his secret- in fact all of their secrets, so I think he must have heard Emma’s secret too (I’m just not sure “how” much of it he actually heard) & was genuinely surprised & gratified Neal wasnt kicking up a big fuss over it- remember Killian feels like that kiss really means, if not as much to Emma as it does to him, then it at least means she feels ‘something’ between them, so Neal’s lack of immediate comprehension confused Killian & took him aback, he started to have 2nd thoughts on what Emma maybe feeling, which is why he got thoughtful.
Inviting himself to go with them, agreed it was pushy- but at that point in time, getting Pan’s shadow was of far more importance than finding Tink & Killian knows Emma wants Henry back asap & so does he, because it means they can get out of NL once & for all (& yes I do think him wanting to stay close to Emma featured into his decision to go with them at that point too- just if had Emma said ‘Killian & she’ were on Shadow duty, Neal would have said he’d go too, because he had skills that could be of use). After all Emma having 2 people familiar with island & the goings on there is by far of more advantage to her than allowing one to wander around the jungle looking for an ex fairy- If she had felt ALL Killain wanted was to keep her from alone time with Neal, she would have said no or shut him down, esp after Snow pointed it out, but she trusts Killian to a large extent, values his opinion on things & knows she can relay on him to help her, so his saying he should go with them was fine by her in that moment.
Also Hook’s behaviour towards Neal was very offish considering Hook is supposed to “care” for Neal. It seemed like Hook was constantly trying to assert his dominance over Neal and prove to Emma that he was the “better man” but not in the good way. It’s like Hook was trying to prove his manliness to Emma. Hook with his attitude and behaviour this episode reminded me of Gaston from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.
I know you directed this question to Eala, but I will give my take on it & you can take it or leave it as you will 🙂
I didnt see Killian’s behavior as ‘offish’ in a bad way tbh (although I can relate, so that maybe why)- I think personally he was wondering how Neal would react & just who Neal was as a person now (remember it’s been a while for them both)…. We dont know what happened after Bae was taken by the lost boys (but obviously Hook knew where Bae was hiding- he knew where the cave was & how to get in & got Bae’s cutlass from there (after) Bae left, but before he himself left, I also assume Bae knew he knew, as he didnt seemed surprised that Hook ‘knew’ about his cave at all), so we dont know how things stood between them by the time Bae left NL.
I could relate to his response to spending time with Neal, because if I see an old friend I havent seen in yrs, I’m a little ‘stand offish’- I like to listen & observe to figure out who they are now, compared to who they were back then- people change, thats life.
I also think *many* ST/SF & NealFire fans have seen & expected Hook to continue on as a kind of ‘father figure’, rather than as a friend, but Bae shot that down firmly when he refused Hook on board twice & with how much time must have past on NL with Hook & Bae both there at the same time (like I say, we dont know what the relationship was like by the time Bae left NL), so I was very pleased they made of point of stating Killian see’s Neal/Bae as a “Friend” a number of times & honestly it works well with how Neal reacted to seeing Hook in NY IMO- his expression back then wasnt one of ‘oh no, my father figure from NL’ or ‘ha! evil pirate got what he deserved’ either- it was somewhere in the middle. Hook’s reaction to hearing Neal/Bae was dead was grief, which I feel was appropriate for a ‘friends’ passing away- if he had truly thought of Bae as a ‘son’ all this time later, he would have reacted more strongly to the news IMO (he is after all is said & done, a man who loves wholly & deeply).

I’m not quite sure which scene/s you are actually referring to here, other than the lighter scene?
If it is the lighter scene, then in all honesty BOTH parties there acted like total idiots IMO. I will say that Emma was pressing Neal to get the fire light & I know from personal experience when you feel you could do a better/quicker job of it, you do just want a ‘chance’ to try- because watching someone else try repeatedly to do something simple & fail is down right frustrating, yes he went about it the wrong way, but in all fairness Neal only let him try once to light the candle, before trying to get the lighter off of him- at least Hook stood back & allowed Neal a few tries at it, before wanting to take over. BOTH men behaved like squabbling 5yr olds IMO- NEITHER came out of that one smelling like roses & sunshine IMO.

Lol- see I actually felt that was more Neal this ep with his “she doesnt need anything to remember me- she has me now” line & the attitude that went with it- so I guess that all comes down to interpretation 😉
Like I said before BOTH guys lost points with me with their petty fighting, but BOTH gained points back in different ways & places as well this ep.

Haha, you guys have pretty much covered everything I had to say 🙂 LOVED the CS moment- it was just classic CS 🙂
Loved how Killian wanted to clear the air with Neal/Bae, so they could get past it & work together- that was very sweet 🙂
Loved how Killian was able to step right into Emma’s personal space, which she allowed & got a little flustered about 😉
Killian telling Emma he believes in her and doesn’t doubt for a second that she’ll accomplish her goal- My little CS shipper heart near exploded 😀
Killian telling it like it is- that neither of them are going to give up trying to win her favor & that she will have to choose one of them eventually (which she knows but doesn’t want to deal with atm)
Emma smiling when talking to Killian & getting genuine smiles back from him (which he only seems to do in Emma’s presence) & it struck me strongly how this seems to parallels the smiles Snow & Charming give each other & the thing I wasnt really expecting at all- the smiles Tink & Bae had for one another (I was very surprised at the focus that was put on the length of these smiles tbh), which was very sweet to see- will be interesting to see how that plays out in SB 🙂
Emma’s level of trust in Killian really shone through this ep- looking to Killian for his opinion on things & pulling him up to ask what was going on, rather then Neal.
Emma shouting HOOK while Neal shouted EMMA, I cant wait to see how she reacts to her feelings for Killian after they get back to SB- It’s going to be an awesome ride!!!!
I loved in general:
Emma reading the riot act to both guys & staying firmly focusing on what’s important atm (all though she did seem to go a little fuzzy when having that conversation with Killian :p )
Thank you writers, finally Neal finishes a scene & I’m left thinking “Neal really came across as a ‘good guy'” rather than wanting to Gibbs slap him up the backside of his head! No excuses, no buts, no over riding choices- I REALLY respected Neal for simply saying ‘that if Henry’s the one good thing that came out of their being together then they did alright’ – Yes, if that is the case, then it is 🙂
I was pleasantly surprised with Neal & Tink- it wasn’t much, but what we saw was very sweet, which I didnt expect. I want more backstory there, I hope we get some! I was FireQueen all S2, then figured that wasnt going to happen & liked WarriorFire becuase I started to like Neal as character more when he was actually opening up to Mulan (but that ship sunk before it floated LOL, however until this ep, that’s the only time I had started to actually enjoy seeing Neal interact with someone) & I honestly kind of fell in love with the whole WendyFire concept- but she is WAYYYY too young looking (IMO), for that to happen. So I am intrigued with TinkerFire (wonder if this will end better for Tink than it did for Nova…… Oh that could be interesting, what really happens to a fairy that has willingly given up her wings for love I wonder? Oh wouldnt it be interesting if a magical being, gave up magic to be with Neal/Bae – hmmm, this pairing could have potential in the long run, though I wont ship it until I’ve seen more of them together).
I love that they FINALLY brought up the fact (albeit with only a look) that Neal should have doubts over Emma embracing magic- esp given he hated his father being magical & wants nothing more to do with the stuff.
The one thing I went ‘Oh no, dont go there please!’ Was Killian fighting Neal over the darn lighter- I know it had to happen, but ugh (I did lol over the whole Killian’s attempts at lighting fires in NL, just not working out for him LOL)
I totally agree with you guys on the “big takeaway” being Neal maybe starting to realize that Emma isnt the same person she was at 17yrs old. She’s grown up & changed a lot
The big take away for me was also how much Emma’s changed from when Neal fell in love with her. Remember what he told her in Manhattan about he never would have gone near her if he knew where she was from? Remember why he left the EF in the first place? Now by some weird chance he found himself connected back to both of those things he resents. Nealfire grew to hate magic, he wanted it gone from his life and now to be with Emma he’d have to deal with accepting magic as a part of his life. The person Emma is now is so entirely different from who she was before. With Hook he’s falling for the person she is now, he knows her so well and really admires, believes in and respects who she is. The thing with the magic makes me think, that part of Emma isn’t something Hook would see as negative with Neal that’s something that he’ll have to work to accept.
