Just a little note about the Blue Fairy- something that caught my attention while reviewing the episode “The Return”, in my mind I thought she had purposely misled Rumplestiltskin when he visited her at the abbey, but I realized this was just clever writing.
She tells Gold that August has been
-Looking for guidance
-Searching for his father
-Hadn’t spoken to him yet
-Because it had been a difficult partingGold (and the audience) assume she is referring to Bae, even though we have no reason to believe BF has her memories of FTL back. However, knowing who August really is, all of BF’s words apply quite well to Pinocchio’s story. Haha! Clever boy! It’s possible that August went seeking out actual help regarding his own situation, but set her up in such a way that if she revealed anything to Gold, it would help support the notion that he was actually Baelfire. I have to go with this idea because when Gold confronts August in the woods, August assumes that Gold thinks he is his son, but all Gold says is “I know who you really are, and what you’re looking for”.
Although, I guess August could have gauged how much Mr. Gold knew by that statement.
“I know who you are.”
Either he knows who I really am, Pinocchio, or he’s found the misinformation I’ve left behind and he thinks I’m Baelfire.
“And I know what you’re looking for.”
Ah ha! He’s found the clues I left about the dagger, meaning he’s likely snapped up the other false leads I left, leading him to believe that I’m Baelfire. And thus August lays on the “Papa”. Ouch.
So yes, I think this is actually an early example of Plot Device Blue Fairy. She’s there to deliver misinformation to the audience and other characters, but not out of malice (she doesn’t even want to tell Gold anything until he threatens to raise the rent)- just out of narrative necessity.
Only problem with that, is Blue didn’t have her memories back, so had no idea about EF or everyone being a magical/FTL person etc- A&E confirmed she didn’t get them back until the curse broke– so she & August are talking about August & his ‘unknown father’ at that point- nothing more (was kind of disappointing learning that because her & August’s background conversation indicates she did know he was Pino, but she couldn’t have, so it was August’s ‘random father’ as far as she knew- or August set her up, so when Rumple asked her, she’d tell him exactly what he wanted to hear.)
The way I see Blue is “Good” magic comes with heavy restrictions in place to keep it “light”- remember power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely – this is played out by Blue Vs Rumple nicely.
Blue is the ‘oldest’ most powerful magical being- her power is so great it’s terrible. The only thing keeping her “light” is by using it only when circumstances for the betterment of FTL/EF as a WHOLE require it. Therefore she is not able to step in unless 1) called upon 2) asked to have a wish granted 3) said wish is for the benefit of EF/FTL 4) Doesn’t feed into darkness (ie selfish/self serving) reasons etc. In short, she has to follow a strict set of rules/code (like Jedi), in order to stop her power becoming corrupted by her own desires.
Rumple on the other hand, has allowed his power to corrupt him absolutely – there is no boundary he hasn’t crossed with it & therefore he/it is absolutely corrupted & so is the magic he preforms- He 1) uses it when ever & however he feels 2) usually instigates the use of his magic through manipulating events around him 3) uses magic for his own betterment, gratification & satisfaction 4) Uses it primarily out of darkness/a corrupt place, as it’s almost always used for selfish/self serving reasons.
Maintaining balance/peace, is never achieved by ‘good powers’ if said power simply destroys ‘evil’ 1st chance it gets (sure it’d get things done, but it’d be no different than evil/dark power then)- that’s why it’s good, it doesn’t step in with force, unless no other choice or hope for redemption can be found- it is the ONLY thing that separates good from evil.& No I don’t dislike or hate Rumple either 😉
I’ve now officially added Greg/Owen (for a full GOAT combo) to my list of disliked characters 👿 Dude needs a chill pill the size of Canada – how does he expect answers if he fries Regina's brain?!?!

ParticipantBoy I hope we are well rewarded with an outstanding CS moment when it finally happens- A&E said we will be getting more CS moments, but I hope it’s more than 1 in the final 🙄
Also hoping it doesn’t involve Hook once again being betrayed, seems the guy cant win lol- the good guys betray him & the bad guys betray him- I bet GOAT will betray him as well & he still keeps on keeping on trusting – Emma so needs to learn from him & he from Emma 😆 😉surayya

Okay, now what do we think? Do we Captainswan’ers get excited tonight, or hold our breath in hopeful anticipation! 😆
Excitedly, holding my breath in hopeful anticipation here lol (looking forward to at least getting more than 30sec’s of Hook if nothing else atm though 😆 )…… The thing that keeps me going with CaptainSwan is all the tid-bits they give us off air- like the up coming interview for instance- we didn’t get any of that, except for Snowing last year. 😉
So every week I sit there going….

Another parallel with Hook and Emma. Both have worn necklaces representing their past. Emma’s we did not find out it’s significance till this season and Hook’s well, S3 is when we go to Neverland. 😉
His necklace appears to be Pan’s dagger and also Skull rock. So another thing in the growing collection of Killian=Peter
I actually thought the dagger could represent Rumple- pretty much the whole of FTL know about the dagger it seems 😉 However I really like the idea of a Hook/Pan mash up, it’d also work for helping to lighten Emma’s mood anyway, so it fits with CS 😉

I assume Hook would change a lot to be with Emma. Not so much he loses what makes him interesting. I don’t want a “mini-David” any more than Emma should be Snow.
With that in mind–my reaction to your questions Toothfairy:Loyalty— Love motivates Hook, not just anger. If he only cared about vengeance, he would have burned Milah’s shawl so Rumpel’s desire to find his son would be thwarted.
Looks–There is nothing wrong in digging the eye candy, as long as that is not the ONLY thing a character has going on. They’ve given Hook some inner conflict and a sly intelligence. I loved his interactions with Cora. He has great banter too (though I could do without some of the over-the-top cheesy “hook” up lines).
History— He does not enjoy killing in and of itself. He lies and uses deceit to help him get what he wants without needing force, but he is ready to fight if it comes to that. Yes, he has been willing to kill, even murder (his words about the journey to wonderland), but only as necessary to getting his vengeance. He limited his collateral damage when he could and seemed to feel conflicted when he couldn’t. So I don’t think there’s much in his history that would prevent him from being believed if he turned a new leaf and hung up the hook.
Empathy. There was that subtle scene with him kicking fish guy into the water after Cora transformed the fisherman. Then what he said about rescuing the falling heart. He could show more, sure, but he was used in a fairly limited portion of the story so far. We’ll get more, I’m sure.
To Price of Magic: Hook doesn’t have to forget her, but I see it parallel to the story of Superman. His first love was Lana Lang, but when he became more than just “Clark Kent” he found Lois Lane who loved him for more than being the boy next door (at least in some versions of that story). Milah loved Killian Jones, the pirate. Emma could fall in love with the man as he is now, after living so many years in Neverland and all he has been through. He’d be a different person (but still sassy).
Agree with everything here, couldn’t have said it better myself 🙂

my mom thought that she would help and add more detail, but I was really going for the metaphor than the detail. 😆 😆
That’s pretty much what I want to do- but with their/the actual pictures 😉
Very nice 🙂surayya
ParticipantOh, I’m certain we will see him in S3- I’m just wondering if he have confirmation on how much is all 😉
KFChimera I’m also hoping he is going to at least be a regular (esp given I’m sure we didn’t get to see everything they had planned for Hook this season, since Colin had a broken leg) & not be demoted to reoccurring or guest role. -
