I think they have done plenty with the character. They finally confirmed him as Pinnochio. He has confronted both Gold and Emma about the curse. He has even started to connect with Geppetto and unknowlingly he has forgiven August. There is a saying, “It is never too late for kindness.” Forgiveness fits into that saying very well too.
He shouldn’t have had to “confront” Emma (it was his job to raise her knowing about the curse & her role in everything- everyone is in the positions they are in because he didnt- weather people like it or not- that’s the fact of the matter) about the curse- he’s made things worse not better for her by doing what he did last night- Ive said over & over again, how would you feel if you were not only told to believe in say Aliens with only a book of story’s about them & a few people who say they are real yet have 0 hard evidence of them & not only do you have to believe in them but in doing so you are now also responsible for everyone’s lives & happiness, it’s all resting on your shoulders & you’re alone- you have to go to war, possibly get killed or get loved ones killed just on faith alone that what others say about Aliens is true —-big ask when put in modern day terms isn’t it.

Great Emma’s characterization in this episode. We finally see a bit of her we hadn’t seen before, which is her being a coward essentially. Yet, I think most people in her situation would have done the same thing.
So in the Stranger, August points out that Emma doesn’t want to believe. It’s not like Emma doesn’t think it couldn’t be real, that SB could be FTL, but that she really, really, really doesn’t want that to be so. Emma doesn’t want to take up the responsibility of being the savior. So her magic is preventing her from seeing the truth. It’s granting her wish. Shows how powerful she is. Her magic is sooo subtle that she doesn’t even know that its affecting her.
All I can say to this is ‘I’ll show you a book about Aliens & then YOU have to totally believe they are real & to boot it’s also your job to save everyone on the planet’
how would you react to this info? 🙄
Because if someone rocked up to me with the evidence Emma has & was serious about me believing in something so totally ludicrous- Id be freaked out (I mean EVERYONES well being becoming my own responsibility 😯 & OMG- this person REALLY believes what they are saying) & probably pissed off to boot (I mean how would you feel if someone wanted you to believe in something insane/ socially unacceptable)- it’d be like an insane person REALLY wanting you to believe in their delusion- which ONLY they can see – that’s a big ask for anyone 🙄surayyaParticipant@celesstarr wrote:

Mr Gold believing would knock her socks right off me thinks
I know this wouldn’t happen..but if both Henry AND Mr. Gold are saying the same thing about the curse being true..they’d be on such opposite sides of the spectrum for her…that I actually think that would do it. Why would Mr. Gold agree with Henry…
I know right- could you imagine the shock of that revelation on her face 😉 :p

I agree that i am willing to give little Pinocchio some leeway as a seven year old, but eventually he wasn’t that kid anymore and he should have gone to find Emma. He could have still helped her when she was a child at least given her some support. And i am not saying that he can’t decide now to do the right thing for Emma, but it doesn’t even seem that is what he is doing. He still seems to be doing it all just for himself. I really think that characters are doing things too much just for themselves with no regards for the pain and suffering they are causing others and i am hoping that Emma is the one who actually decides to do the right thing even though all these people who are cursed are pretty much a mess
Totally agree with this as well! ….. for me, it comes down to what would it take to say get an atheist to believe in God or a die hard religious person or skeptic to believe in Alien’s??? A picture book? A few unrelated people singing the same tune (hello we should all totally believe in Aliens then shouldn’t we if that’s the case as millions say they’ve seen them 🙄 )? What Emma has to go on for believing in the curse is almost nothing at the end of the day aside for a creepy coincidental picture in a book- its nothing that would make any of us believe in the unbelievable if we weren’t already open to it anyway.
Also telling someone who’s had no one their entire life & has major trust issues, that the fate, happiness, lives & fortunes of an ENTIRE town & land rest on their shoulders alone without giving them support & STRONG evidence FIRST it just plain stupidity (esp given Graham- who she had Strong feelings for, dies in her arms- that’d make her feel like it was all her fault he died to boot) 🙄 😡surayyaParticipant@KalliopeKisees wrote:
I had quite a few chances at 7 years old to through my younger siblings to the wolves, yet I did not. If I were alone, yes I would run away. But would I run and leave a helpless infant to suffer it out herself. That would be a huge NO!
I too cannot stand august. Never liked the story of Pinocchio and now I realy don’t like it.
Lol 🙂 Agreed!

How can I make you believe? All he’s done is get frustrated she’s not believing his story & a book full of pictures for crying out loud- how is that her fault.
Actually, August/Pinocchio did come clean to Emma. He didn’t tell her the specific instance in the orphanage, but he did confess it was his role to look out for her. In the scene in the woods, August said to Emma, “I was supposed to be there for you, but I wasn’t. Because I was half way around the world, I got a painful reminder of just how far I’d strayed.”
Yeah BUt he didnt say “SORRY” now did he – he just thanks for reminding me about not doing what I said I would, by coming to SB & turning me to wood…..NOT exactly coming clean & not even close to an apology 😡
surayyaParticipantOk but he’s not just some 7 year old he’s freaking Pinocchio! He had to earn his human form by being brave, truthful & unselfish. He knows what it is to be brave when he sacrificed himself to save Geppetto. I won’t pretend to know what it’s like in a foster home but I’d bet that some where when he was thinking how hard is is for him that it was gonna be just as hard for Emma. Whatever they were gonna have to face at least they would have faced it together. That aside ok he’s a kid so he dips, but still he only came back when he himself was affected. That’s when he came back when his personal well being was threatened. If he’d have come back earlier then I’d be more inclined to let him slide on leaving as a 7 year old. There’s a time between when Emma was still a kid who needed if nothing else some one to be there so she wouldn’t be alone on her birthday and when Henry showed up so she wouldn’t be anymore that I can’t see how to justify. Sometime between abandoning Emma and his leg starting to turn into wood he much like the victims of the curse lost who he was, somewhere between 18-35 he didn’t do enough.
Yep- My thoughts as well!!! He didn’t come back BEFORE it adversely effected his welfare, so his intention wasn’t to return but to continue living the good life & leave everyone & thing to go hang themselves 😡
Midnight Dreary – my father was given up for adoption with 3 others in his family when he was 3, he also ran away from the orphanage & foster homes many times & actually became a homeless street kid for a while, until he met his best friend (who my brother is named after) & started sleeping under his window at night & being slipped food etc (right up until Grandma stuck her head out the window & asked if he was coming inside or not lol). So No I wouldnt blame him for running away IF it was JUST his own well being at stake BUT as above, he’d been rewarded a real body & life for acting selflessly & bravely ALREADY- he knew more than anyone the difference between right & wrong – he choose to go into the wardrobe, knowing he’d be going to a new place & having to protect Emma- he could have refused to leave his Dad, he knew even then Gep was wrong (he said BUT BF said…) but he still came through AFTER making the promise to keep Emma safe & help her grow up to break the curse.
How many 7yr olds would refuse a life jacket to save their parents – so Pinno is hardly your average 7yr old kid & in the past 7yr olds where like 11 &12yr olds now-days with the responsibilities they were given – think of girls married off at 14-16 yrs as they are considered young women (we’ve added 4-6yrs to what is considered appropriate there, so add 4-6yrs to Pinno age & you get his real time age understandings).
He got told off by one (Very Creepy yes) guy & he decides to bail- not good enough IMO excuse.surayyaParticipanthmmmm it’s not certain she manages to actually leave town though yet – Henry stated he has to come back, so that might play a role in her not managing to really leave as well & maybe Emma’s now trapped as well (she has gone to leave twice before now & twice hasn’t been able to- wolf on rd & was talked out of it, it’d go some way to helping her believe if she kept trying & random stuff just kept happening to prevent her from going over & over again)- She left with Booth yes, but the intent was never to leave for good, just quickly pop out & then come back- like Henry & some others do- we’ve seen cars driving that rd & people finding those that try to leave so they must have some leeway there IF they aren’t trying to leave SB.
surayyaParticipantHehe, I’m the opposite & with KalliopeKisees- I cant stand the guy now & if anything I now hate Pinno more ( Ididnt think that could happen-but go figure lol) & Gep well don’t get me started on him- he’s way down on my list of nice guys right now- he’s got some explaining & MAJOR groveling to do when all & sundry get their memories back!
I like imperfect characters as well, but not selfish, self serving ones who have given no remorse nor apology to those they wronged. August hasn’t even told Emma the whole truth, he just got frustrated with her for his own cock up (its ENTIRELY his own FAULT she doesn’t know or believe) & made things worse for all in the long run….. not just for Emma, but everyone & his response to that, well I’ll go find my Daddy &pretend it didn’t happen, rather than trying to set it right 🙄 Not cool & I wont give him a chance until he really does show remorse & apologize to Emma in particular & SW/Pc in general – Gep can go hang for a sorry- he got everyone into this mess to start with- If BF had lied & told Gep Pinno would be fine instead of being honest he would never have made his deal- but then BF really would be in some way corrupt so no- it’s all on Gep & Pinno (who knew what’d happen if he did bad stuff,so knew more than anyone right from wrong).surayyaParticipantSee Im think what is so important- was maybe the book, maybe it was meant go/find SW to help with Emma being the curse breaker or something 🙂
