I’ve ‘shipped a lot but Captain Swan is honestly, the most beautiful love story ever.
I know right! I thought I’d shipped one couple hard before, but NOPE! CS is for sure my OTP & simply the most beautiful love story I’ve ever had the pleasure to watch unfold 😀 <3
Hook is everything Emma needs in a true love and he was always meant to fall in love with her and I have to believe that Adam and Eddy always wanted to bring him onto the show for one purpose: making him Emma’s true love. They couldn’t get the rights for him in season one, so they had to wait until they did.
And knowing this season’s theme is that you don’t give up on the people that you love and this is what the Charming family does, Hook fits in quite perfectly there because Hook has never given up on the people that he loves. He fights for them.

And you know, it has to be said but Neal admitted to Mulan that he did give up on Emma. He took the easy way and did not even look for her after the curse was broken. He gave up on trying to reconcile because his fear got in the way. It was implied that the reason Neal asked August to send him a post card to him once the curse was broken, was that he intended to go after Emma but he didn’t. He even moved on from Emma and found love with Tamara. And true loves can’t move on from each other and yet, Neal moved on from Emma and also gave up on her as well.
And Hook couldn’t move on from Emma in the Enchanted Forest during the lost, he stayed loyal to her and Hook didn’t give on finding a way to rescue her from the ice cave. Hook is the man Emma deserves, someone who will not give up on her and will continue to fight for her no matter what, even in incredibly futile circumstances.
I know we’re not talking about true love yet but Emma and Hook are definitely on their way to becoming true love. It’s coming (probably in the 4B finale, or going into it).

Rumple will destroy his own happiness, Hook really doesn’t need to do much. Rumple swapped the dagger but he’s still lying to Belle and Adam and Eddy said at NYCC. Rumple is still self-serving and he’s still Everything you see him do will show that he’s in it for himself.
Until Rumple can let go of that selfishness, he’s never really going to have a happy ending with Belle. I feel sorry for Belle, to be honest. She trusts him and has such unwavering faith in him but Rumple continually does these things that sabotage his happy ending.
I mean look at the scene in the last episode. Look at how Rumple interacted with Hook. Charming and Hook go to ask Rumple for help with saving Emma. Hook acknowledges that Rumple is the Dark One and is therefore powerful enough to destroy the ice cave. I love Rumple but why was he such a jerk towards Hook? Making a big deal about how he COULD destroy the cave but it would also destroy his girlfriend??? Just as a nice jab to remind him that he destroyed his LAST girlfriend??? Like, sure but then I’m gonna kill this girlfriend just like I killed your last. I get that he is upset about Neal dying and everything but dude is messed up right now and doesn’t appear to be in the right frame of mind in general. So I don’t think Hook is likely to DO anything to negatively affect Rumple’s growth, if anything he might RESPOND in a way that reveals what Rumple is up to but ultimately that might be exactly what is needed for a Rumple to have true character growth.
THat part actually bothered me as well for the reasons you’ve stated & the fact that Emma is his grandson’s mother, so they are related to each other & thats seriously how youre gonna respond?! I mean, sure they couldn’t just have Rumple go in & save the day- the story would have been over before it really started, but we can bet our socks, that had it been Belle,Neal or maybe even Henry in the ice cave, Rumple would have at least tried to find away to help get her or him out :/ I was also a little taken aback by Belle’s lack of worry in Rumple’s attitude there, isnt Emma supposed to be a friend?!
I actually wonder if they are working toward having Hook and Rumple ultimately bond in some way. I’ve actually wondered why they don’t get along now. I mean Milah treated Rumple like crap and now he is married to his TL Belle, so in hindsight Milah leaving him allowed him to find him his TL. And CS is pretty much shaping up to be TL as well so if Milah had lived Killian would never had found Emma. So in bizarre ways Rumple and Hook’s actions both lead the other to find their TL’s. Not that I think that excuses killing people or going on a 300 year quest for revenge. But ultimately that IS what resulted from those things. So really I don’t get what their problem with each other is anymore. So if they can have Hook and Rumple work together to have Rumple end up with character growth, they could end up bonding. Just a theory.
Interesting thought- although I guess Killian is still missing a hand thanks to Rumple, but he does seem to like his hook, so… yeah lol 😉

YES! I was just saying the other day to my sister (who hasnt been able to watch the show yet, as she’s been away on holiday), that this season feels very much like the 1st season, that it’s gone back to its roots & that so far, I’m enjoying it just as much as S1. I mean I loved S3- esp the finale, because that finale to me felt like pure Once-verse 😉 (I actually sat there & was sorry we had to go back to SB! lol), but S1 was pure magic- I dont know if it was entirely because Once was new & unknown, or if it was the format of the episodes/season, but it was magic & S4 has that same vibe to it already IMO.
Now that he is gone, it’s like everything is back to normal on the show for me. And I’m honestly not saying that because I’m a CS shipper. When Emma and Gold first found Neal there was a brief moment of time where I thought I might like to see Emma and “Bae” together. But then when Neal started interacting with everyone – NOPE. Zero chemistry, not just with Emma but with the entire cast. And because there was no chemistry I could never see Emma and Neal’s relationship developing beyond anything other than a bad teenage romance. Out of kindness to the SF fans I found myself trying to force myself to find scenes where I felt like I could find Neal having chemistry with ANY of the characters on the show. I was sad when he died because I loved “Bae” and I felt bad for who Emma and Rumple were losing and what losing him meant to them. But that was it.
I’m with you here as well, on my umpteenth time of rewatching S3, I warmed up to Neal as a person, but I agree he simply didnt gel-well with anyone- I warmed up to a couple of his scenes with Henry, but that could be because Jared can play some of his scenes quite ‘flat’ if that makes sense (I usually dont notice it on 1st watch though). I have actually come to feel they cast MRJ to have that slightly awkward/very platonic type chemistry on screen, as calling what they had “quiet love” is stretching beyond truth IMO. Also when we saw MRJ & Jen off set in interviews, it was obvious they had become good friends (it pales in comparison to Colin & Jen’s chemistry- I giggle every time they get asked about each others character’s romance, as they both almost always end up blushing when they talk about it lo).
Which is funny because all the haters are posting about how they think the show sucks now and how it’s nothing like it was in the beginning. I truly do not understand anyone who hates the show so much but continues to watch or post about it. Or prays to network Gods that it will get cancelled. That is just . . . odd. There have been several shows that I used to watch that I just no longer enjoyed or lost interest in. So I stopped watching them. But I didn’t send hate mail to the producers and didn’t organize prayer circles hoping for cancellation and I didn’t waste HOURS, DAYS, WEEKS, MONTHS of my life discussing and posting about how much I hate the show now. And I don’t understand the argument that people make saying that they are “too invested” in the show and the friends they have made via the show to stop watching or stop posting about it. I’m really happy if they have made friends from watching the show – go find another show you all LIKE and post happy thoughts about that one on that show’s board together!!! Heaven help me if I am ever so “invested” in something that I absolutely despise but cannot leave. And these people think Emma has an unhealthy relationship with Hook???? They are spending hours of their life posting, blogging, tweeting, and chatting about a show that they can’t stand and, in some cases, no longer watch!!! THAT seems entirely unhealthy to me.
You know what, I’m actually starting to think the problem with the haters isnt that they dont like the show anymore… its the fact they actually like the show despite themselves. I mean it explains why so many of them are still watching & making up frankly stupid, illogical excuses like the ones you’ve listed above- I call bollocks on the ‘invested to much & the friends’ excuses for example, because what, are you & your friends that ‘hate’ the show incapable of discussing anything other than Once?! If so, that isnt a ‘friend’ lol. It also explains the viscous nonsensical hate- So they hate Hook for acting like a pirate… then they hate him for not acting like a pirate; they hate him for supposedly objectifying Emma, then they hate him because he points our Emma is a grown women & capable of making her own choices- They hate him for not caring enough, then hate him for caring to much …. cause that makes perfect sense & proves how valid their ‘arguments’ against CS/Hook really are! Bahahahahahahaha.
I find myself spending more time looking at pictures and stuff on tumblr these days because I don’t have to deal with any of the “weirdness” there. It seems like this site has been taken over by people who hate the show and are hoping it will get cancelled. Which it strange because I thought it was supposed to be a site for people who enjoy the show. It isn’t even just anti-CS anymore. It’s like if you are positive about the show in any way you are the enemy. I feel like we lost so many fun people here who used to have such great and insightful posts. Not just CS shippers. It feels like all of the threads are MUCH sparser than they used to be. I think people who weren’t die hard SF shippers got tired of all the negativity and fled.
Yes exactly this, I’m glad I’m not the only one who is still here, noticed it & is highly disappointed about the direction this site has taken. It;s also very sad it;s getting a reputation on line as OnceUponaHate discussion… it almost feels like soon we’ll be told to ‘this is the haters ‘safe haven’- go be positive about the show in the one ‘I love Once thread’ whenever someone posts positive stuff 🙁
Is it like this on other OUaT boards? This is the only board I post on. I always hear about how there is a lot of CS and Hook hate out there but have other OUaT boards also lost followers because of all their negativity? Does anyone have other boards they go to or know where some of our friends have fled to? It ticks me off that people have been successful in driving people away and I don’t want to leave but I miss all of our CS shipmates!!
I post on boards persay, but I am part of a couple of FB groups & over there CS/Hook love is high- sure there are few who dont ship it or love him/they love Rumple lol, but over all it’s pretty good- Awesome. I have no idea where everyone has actually fled too though, but there is a good dozen shipmates that I really miss having CS discussions with as well… Seriously, I think my stubbornness not to ‘run off the site’ is the only thing keeping me here tbh- the attitudes & actions of many of the people on this site sadden & disgust me.
Sorry for the downer post. We just moved to Florida and I’m still trying to make friends. I was looking forward to OUaT starting back up because I feel like I’ve always had friends here to chat with and that would change even when I move, but everyone stays so quiet or is gone now

Some CS related spoilers for the next ep …. I’m DYING OF CS feels …again & it hasnt even aired yet!!!
Emma tells Hook to take Elsa to the Sheriff’s station just in case people might want to take the blame on Marian’s curse or the fact that the ice wall still stands. Hook ends up going to Gold and making a deal with him to help find out who really cursed Marian and trapped them. They are led into the woods where they see the Snow Queen. Hook attempts to call Emma, but she does not pick up. As they turn to leave, the Snow Queen catches them and freezes Killian’s leg so he can’t move and hangs icicles on top of him. She also rendered Elsa’s magic useless so she can’t save him. The Snow Queen is about to drop the icicles on him when Emma and David show up.

I’m sorry, the kiss was pretty deep in the episode, so I couldn’t record it because there a no recording rule. However, as I posted before, Emma was pretty cold to Hook and he wanted to know why. She responded saying she didn’t want to lose him like all the other men she’s been with. He assures she won’t lose him because he’s good at surviving. So much beautiful eye contact before the slowly lean in a kiss.

In the previews there was a scene where Hook was standing under some dangerous looking icicles caused by the Snow Queen. I’ve read Emma confronts her, but how exactly does the scene play out – does Emma use her magic because Hook is about to be killed?
Just when the icicles are about to fall on Hook and David, Emma uses her magic to push them both away.

Emma gets mad at Hook when they’re at Granny’s. He asks if she wants a drink and she storms out. Emma has tears in her eyes and tells him that everyone she loved has died and brings up Graham, Neal, and even Walsh and is upset because Hook almost died. Hook says “You don’t have to worry about me. If there’s one thing I’m good at, it’s surviving” Then Hook initiates the kiss.

So, is Killian under Rumple’s control, are they working together, is Rumple under Killy’s control Or is Killian under SnowQueen control……I know, right? It’s not like some major tea corporation endorsed CS!
& even if it was, whats it to them! If there was a CS flavor of Ice cream that came out, so what?! If someone wants to celebrate their favorite Once couple by giving them a flavor of something, then so be it! I mean would we all be sitting here complaining the SF got a flavor of tea or ice cream etc.?! Nope- we’d all be saying, ‘Wow, cool’, because we are fans of the show 1st & foremost & I’d like to think decent, well adjusted human-beings.
And then there was that whole thing with Yvette Nicole Brown, which led to her and Jen getting attacked on Twitter and YNB saying that she wasn’t going to live tweet the episodes anymore. And that’s a shame, because I enjoyed her commentary.

And yeah, I’ve seen a variety of disturbing comments like that. It’s like some people just can’t separate actors and characters (I see that a lot on Twitter). And it usually comes across as an unpleasant combination of rude and creepy.

I don’t know if this came up here or not, but it was going around on Tumblr–another one of those “open letter” things, this time to Jen. (Here‘s a link if any of you are as morbidly curious as I was, lol.)
Hmmm, didnt get past the 2nd sentence- it had already come off as a ‘throw myself on the floor, kicking & screaming, 4yrs olds supermarket tantrum, because my ship didnt happen’ by then & I wasnt interested in going any further & having to witness at her sh…crappy dippers. Also love how for someone who wants 1 specific person to read her “letter”, she doesnt even have the decency to sign her name to it…. The only good thing about that rubbish, is hardly anyone has ‘liked- or whatever tumbler calls it, it’.
Maybe I should read it & do an open letter to “the depraved, malevolent, licentious, coward “Disenchanted”- because I can guarantee there is absolutely noway way on gods green earth, this childish, demented person, would ever say any of crap I’m sure she’s written, to her face & frankly, IMO if you wouldnt say it to someones face in a public place, then dont write it on social media- simple as that.
I have to do my rewatch! I haven’t broken my DVR yet watching the scenes of Hook holding Emma in the loft yet…I’m super impressed by that little box! I’m preparing myself in advance for the feels this Sunday because I definitely was NOT prepared last week!

Twitter has a BLOCK function for a reason. Everyone should it.
Posters spew because they know people will not hold them accountable for their cowardly, immature behavior.
So BLOCK them, never acknowledge them. Eradicate the scummy attention they desperately seek. And this goes double for Adam and the writers and the actors. They should block and ignore the bottom feeders. It is a thimbleful of posters in the larger scheme of the fandom. BLOCK their skanky crap.
YES! I usually tweet them telling them their behavior is deplorable & that their parents, friends & family would be ashamed to know they are saying such horrible things… then promptly block their a$$ 😛 😉
I don’t know where people think or get this idea that they can dictate the story of a show that isn’t even their baby. It’s ridiculous.
Do you know if all shows on television worked that, no one would watch because story and characters would be jumping all over the place, it would be one huge mess.
I’ve had very few problems with Adam and Eddy’s writing. Except for the weaker episodes (Selfless, Brave and True mostly). But you know, at the end of the day, Once is their fanfiction and they’re going to write it how they want to write it.

I definitely empathize with A&E and the bullying thing, I’ve been bullied too and it really is not a nice experience. Bullying nowadays is so much worse than playground bullying because people can hide their faces behind a username and think that their words don’t hurt the other person. But they do. I think Jen’s open Facebook letter when she was at Monaco is proof of that.

Jen and I are both April babies and I have a sneaking feeling after she read all those nasty comments, probably cried for a good 30 minutes or something before posting that response. I get very emotional when I’m furiously mad about something.
I wouldnt surprise me at all if thats the case. I do wish they would just block the haters, but I guess that becomes difficult when you are getting tweets from hundreds of fans at a time & you cant exactly un-see something once you’ve seen it either 🙁

So I’ve just read somewhere that at the end of the hug Hook wispers “oh, good”. Had to check it out. Volume on max- it is there- “…(something)…god” And I’m not Okay! *ugly sobbing*

The funny thing about the haters, as someone pointed out on the CS podcast is that the haters can’t seem to decide what kind of person Hook should be. Haters hated him when he was the villain (although, an incredibly lousy villain when compared to Regina and Rumple) but now, that he’s a hero, they hate still hate him. Even though he’s the hero.
I think what it all comes down to is who Hook is currently with: Emma.
And the amount of hate Jen gets on twitter on a daily basis for ‘shipping CS and being happy for her character, is truly disgusting.
I’ll take the tea incident because that’s the most recent as well as the most ridiculous fight ever. People were getting upset on twitter because Jen made a comment that she wanted to buy a Captain Swan flavored tea. I’m like, really? You’re getting bent out of shape over a tea blend? On a site where you can make your own tea blend?
One of the nastier comments I read was that someone hoped Hook would give Emma an STD. You don’t make snide or joking remarks like that, even when it’s about a fictional character. It’s really poor taste.

Just thought of another reason why Rumple wouldn’t help Hook and Charming- If Rumple solves every problem on the show easily, it takes any dramatic suspense out of the problem.
Yes, however that argument can be used for almost anything on once- including plot holes 😉
True, Price. But you know, his solutions to things are interesting. I still want to know how he managed to have a vile of Regina’s tears in his possession. I know he trained Regina to use magic but I don’t remember a scene where he sat around with a bottle as she cried and cried.
