It’s funny because when you see direct parallels like the above, you have to wonder just how people could miss the ‘writing on the wall’ 😉

ParticipantI completely agree that Hook made the right choice to keep the JR. The fact that Ariel and Eric were then living on that deserted island showed that Eric wasn’t going to starve to death. Hook not giving up the JR just meant it took Ariel longer to look, that is all. For a pirate, reputation is important. If people fear you because of your reputation, it means they’re more likely to give up the goods without a fight meaning there is less chance of lost lives. It’s when people start to question that reputation that the trouble starts. Therefore Hook had to maintain his reputation to make things easier for everybody.
Exactly & when put in that context, it is totally in line with Hook’s code of honor not to give up his ship & reputation for her, because as you say it keeps his crew & potentially other crews in a much safer position when it comes to pirating, which equates to his trying to keep as many people alive as possible.
Also I had a thought the other day. What if Hook wasn’t the one blackmailing Rumple but Maurice (Belle’s dad) was. After all, theoretically, Rumple could just make Hook disappear but he can’t just get rid of Belle’s dad. Plus we’re supposedly meant to be seeing a lot more of Maurice next season, why would that be unless he’s blackmailing Rumple?
ohhhhhh, Now that would be a very. very interesting twist POM, I like it! You also make a good point, why wouldnt Rumple just poof away or bug-a-fy Killy if Killy was blackmailing him? I doubt it’s because of Emma- I’m not sure Rumple has come quite that far yet & I cant think of a reason- other than making him tell the truth (in which case whats the point), maybe getting his hand back, or for info/way to capture/return Elsa maybe??? that Killy would have a reason to blackmail Rumple anyway- The only thing Killy has on Rumple is the exact events of Milah’s murder, that we know of :/

ParticipantNot at all CS related, but wanted to take a moment to say Georgina Haig is FRIGGN AWESOME! Oh how it’d be so darn nice for certain other cast members to be free to unleash their sarcastic wit when asked about stupid stuff or criticized for not saying what the questioner wants to hear 😉

ParticipantSomeone put up the audio commentary for 3×22. Not sure how long it will be available, so if you don’t have the DVDs or BluRays (like me), download and save. This is with Adam & Eddy.
OH, thank you!!! Will do that now before I pop out to docs 😀

Participantahem, off topic but this joke comes from my 12 yr old daughter who asked me to share: “What do you call a basket with a picture of Neal on it? A Baesket. ” Sorry. (not really sorry)
*chuckles* … I’m going to blame the fact I did laugh out loud at this on the all cough meds 😛 You can tell your daughter well done 🙂
First of all: get well soon, Surayya and Jenna_B! And I agree with everyone else that that was a really lovely essay, and like Jenna I definitely never noticed the empty chair thing either! I’ll definitely be watching for that when I go through S3 again now that I have the Blu-Rays. I think I missed a lot of stuff toward the end of that episode because I was so irritated by that last part with Blackbeard (optional bonus rant below). I mean first of all, clearly mermaids can swim at lightning speed–we’ve seen evidence of that several times, and at the end of this episode Regina says “At the rate mermaids swim, she’s probably already there.” So in a matter of hours (maybe even minutes, I’m not sure!), Ariel could have gotten from Storybrooke to some obscure island in FTL. At that rate, of course she would’ve been able to find Eric before he starved to death! She clearly had no problem just looking on every deserted island in the EF, since that’s what she did, and he was fine. Secondly, if he really wanted to prove that he was still a ruthless pirate or whatever, surely Hook would’ve just tortured the information out of Blackbeard. I mean come on, just because Blackbeard said there were only two options–give up the ship and get Eric or essentially kill them both–didn’t mean that that was the case. Blackbeard was the loser; he wasn’t really in a position to be dictating terms!
Thanks & agreed on the Blackbeard thing as well- I actually thought Ariel was the one being rather selfish there, why should she expect Hook give up everything he has in the world for her, when she has the means & will find her man after she’s told he’s on an island somewhere- even if there was no food, how exactly did she plan on finding him after Hook handed over his ship, totally lost his reputation & therefore his ability to lead men & make a living (even if it was pirating)?….. oh that’s right swim off & live HEA, well Killy was left standing with nothing & no one… but yeah, sure, he was totally the selfish one in that situation
And I think I have been immersed in this fairy tale land way too long, last night I had the weirdest cross over dream between Frozen and that new Tinkerbell and the Pirate Fairy movie (which I haven’t seen!) but in the middle of some weird body swap thing between OUAT Elsa and Hook (a la Pan and Henry) I have an animated Tom Hiddleston as the young Capt Hook with his all singing and dancing naval crew popping up in the middle of it all. I’m not sure what was going on. I woke up feeling very confused.
LOLOLOLOL- whatever you are taking, I want some too 😉 LOLOLOLOLOLOL
