Phoenix, pegasus…. Derp by me!
[adrotate group="5"]swanning-offParticipant“What, a one-handed pirate with a drinking problem?” PP
“I’m not a grown up, but even I can tell that’s not appealing” I loled.
Also: important details. WHERE AND HOW does Hook keep his supply of rum topped up?!
Particularly liked this:
swanning-offParticipantThe king lied to them. A lie that turned out to be deadly to the CAPTAIN. I assume he was a really good and beloved guy to his shipmates and crew so for them, I think they felt the same thing ad Hook when they found out he was dead over a lie the king told. Its not a stretch for me to think third turn against him after that so quickly.
In most 17-18-19th century pirate tales, or tales based in those times, men in the Navy were often running away from something or someone, or running to a sense of belonging. So in terms of broad stereotypes of pirate/naval lore…..
- Their true loyalty lay with their crew mates, the people who would stand by them and die for/with them
- a Captain was worth serving, kings come and go
- life on the open sea often freed them of rules of society
All things rather conducive to Going Full Pirate!
But yes, it was rather convenient how quickly they went “bring on the skull and crossbones”
swanning-offParticipantIT’S ARIEL! GUYS IT’S ARIEL! WE MADE IT TO ARIEL! *my inner 3yr old is dying of some sort of intense joy*
Mine too. So much so that I might get out my TLM dvd…. seeing as I’ve skipped my uni class*
* I’m a terrible post grad student. I have one class to get to. ONE. Once per week. Yet I keep sleeping in and missing it. I blame work. And depression. And being lazy!
swanning-offParticipantThey mention a war and how the dreamshade could wipe out an entire race. I think we are talking Ogres.
Yep. Agree. My mytharc radar dinged like an alarm bell when he said “an entire race”. Suggests the Ogre Wars. We know Rumple put an end to them, but only after they had raged across several kingdoms (or fiefdoms?) for hundreds of years.
The reason I say fiefdoms is that here, the Jones Bros refer to their king. Rumple lived in a land governed by a Duke (who was “advised”/controlled by Zoso, the reigning Dark One). We’ve seen at least several kingdoms exist in the Enchanted Forest – Snow’s, King George, King Midas, the random Princes (Thomas, Phillip, Eric shortly). It would be really great if the Once website had a map of the Enchanted Forest so we could get a clear grasp of how these kingdoms are set out.
swanning-offParticipantIt’s really bugging me that none of the characters have commented on it ALWAYS being nighttime. Or do they not notice because time passes differently? Emma seems conscious that days are passing, and Henry might lose hope, but do we know how long they’ve been on Neverland? Days? Weeks? Hours??
swanning-offParticipantthat 2nd sneak peek makes the kiss so much hotter.
swanning-offParticipantI assumed that other beasties on the island (not the Lost Boys, actual animals) had nommed on GOAT’s remains before Tink got to scavenge them.
swanning-offParticipantHas anyone thought that an important captain from “The Mysterious Island” from 1874 would make an appearance? Captain Nemo, anyone?
That would be so cool. And Disney (and therefore ABC) has the rights to 20 000 Leagues Under the Sea so they can use Nemo and his Nautilis.
(Which, as an aside, is quite a cool bit of Disneyland. There’s no ride but I liked walking through a steampunkish submarine and seeing a kraken. It was awesome!)
October 21, 2013 at 9:18 am in reply to: 3×04 “Nasty Habits” FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS #217666swanning-offParticipant…. dear old murderous dad has killed without hesitation in the past and has always had the nasty habit of self preservation? I’m sorta with Neal on this one. You protect your child first.
Me too. I mean, I wish that Neal hadn’t done it because we, the audience, have seen all of those gentler Rumple moments and (much like Regina as audience sees her and Regina as the town see her) the other characters are in the dark about how far along, or how precarious to a bad moment, their redemption arcs are. We know this is bad for Rumple, and that Neal shouldn’t have done it…. but Neal last saw Rumple beating the snot out of Dr Whalenstein to make Lacey giggle. As far as he knows, Papa hasn’t changed despite the flashes that indicate he would like to. I’d take Henry and run like hell as well!
