Bitter Town is just down the street from you guys so I’m sure I’ll be visiting from time to time. Today I’m just content being bitter and annoyed (mostly because of a coworker to be honest) so I’m staying away from the sadness for a while. I will be back frequently to Sad Town though…..I have dual citizenship.
Come for the Farmer’s Market. Stay for the sadness.
Also, I have Puck at work with me today (he’s coming to the con this weekend with me with the intent to take silly pictures for everyone). He was hidden in my terminal until someone needed to get into the printer. Let’s just say there was a lot of shock and awwwwwwwww.

textbookoneParticipantI’m kinda glad too that I don’t have to worry about spoilery CSness and the abundance of Neallessness.
#1 cause of Sad Town-itis – Neallessness. You can get the super combination when you combine it with Spoilery CSness. It may require therapy (or sitting around in Sad Town with us looking at sad things).

textbookoneParticipantIm going to be mean, and say that i hope they destroy frozen, well if they bring snow queen, they are already destroying it, bc people are expecting frozen, bc if they thought Neal fans and SFers could be push aside, what will they do when they destroy disney golden characters, and what will Disney say about they destroying the movie that brought disney back on top. GA will stop watching the show and that means low ratings and a way for them to stop and try to think of what they done with the show.
Agreed. Apparently losing the bulk of SF fans was fair loss for them, but if they butcher Frozen like we’re hoping, then they’ll be in for a whole other kind of pain.
That’s what it was originally supposed to say on our town welcoming sign: ‘You’re here. It’s sad but true’. But then we changed it to: ‘Welcome to Sad Town, we’re sad to have you be sad in our sad town.’ It was our attempt at “cheery”. Think we did quite well, wouldn’t you say?
I’ve stayed in Bitter Town a week or so after the finale. It was positively despressing. Unfortunately I started missing my sad co-mayor Sad Twin, which made me sad. So I returned. Our reunion was sad (but secretly happy, but sad, it was sad happy, sappy… am I in Looneyville again?).
I love you Sad Twin. So much sad sad love. I’d rather by Co-Mayor of Sad Town with you than alone in Bitter Town any day.
I am going to stay away from Sad Town and Bitter town because you guys are so depressing and I don’t want it to make myself more depressed about OUAT situation.
It’s hard to explain the kind of sad joy being in Sad Town brings. You only get it if you’re here. Sad Town is my favourite sad place.

textbookoneParticipantAnd ants have run off with the stale bread, I assume? Sad.
Yes. They did, and it was indeed sad. Nothing ever goes our way in Sad Town.
*has moved from Sad Town to Bitter Town where she can throw things at her TV, read SF fan fics, and rip pages out of fairy tale books to her heart’s content*
Dear former resident,
We are sad to see you go. We hope your stay in Sad Town was as sad as you needed/wanted it to be. We would have put more effort into keeping you, but effort makes us sad because it all seems so hopeless.
Best of luck,

textbookoneParticipant*sits in Sad Town* Indeed
Welcome Visitor. Please take one of our tourism brochures, as well as our informational pamphlet “So you’re in Sad Town. Now what?”. Sadly our welcome baskets have been eaten by coyotes. It was sad.

textbookoneParticipantRelevant to our discussion earlier today:
And here is the most important thing I’ve learned from 10 years in this world: fandom is about people. It is not about a tv show or a ship, it’s not about a character or a creator or about that one fanfic that changed the way you regard fanfic as a whole. Fandom is about finding people who love what you love. It’s about finding someone in Israel who has the same reaction to Milo Ventimiglia’s bottom lip, or someone in Singapore who will share in your Downton Abbey geekery, or someone in Michigan who knows what you mean when you can’t express your emotions beyond “!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.” And who will then ask you about your day, or send you a link they know will make you laugh, or recommend something else (a tv show, band, podcast, book, youtube video) they know you’re going to love. Because they know you.

textbookoneParticipantso what’s your secret, people?
how can you get through the day if you really really believe that A&E changed the story and Neal will stay dead?
I am not questioning anyone here, I am trying to learn from you.
how do you keep posting posts and reading posts and being on these forums if you truly believe that the story as we knew it has been trashed?I can’t speak for other people, but I get through it by remembering what the story was, and what I feel in my heart it could have (and should have) been. Reading other people’s posts makes feel like I’m not alone in my sadness and disappointment. If it was just me raging and complaining about 315 and everything past it, then I probably would have walked away, but there are other people here who feel the same way and it makes me not feel alone. Eventually I’ll be ready to move on, but for now this is kind of my support group as I work through my attachment to both Neal and Once in general.
Not sure if that really answers your question, but that’s how I feel.

textbookoneParticipantOkay, so I wanted to post about this somewhat (okay, mostly) off topic thing weeks and weeks ago, but I never got around to it. Since we now know how s3 ended, it’s not as relevant, but I thought I might as well post it anyway.
The biggest fandom I was ever involved in was Sailor Moon. Up until the start of this season of Once it was the only fanfiction I had read in probably a good 10 years. One of my favourite stories is The House on Thornrose Lane by Alicia Blade (who, FYI is now a published author under her real name Marissa Meyer), which is a melding of fairytales and AU Sailor Moon. In it’s sequel the author has a chapter that is inspired by the Brother’s Grimm Story Godfather Death. On the off chance that anyone actually wants to read the fanfic and doesn’t want to be spoiled, I’ll put the synopsis of the chapter under a spoiler.
In the chapter Serena is reunited with Endymion, her True Love, who died in the previous story. They meet in what is essentially a purgatory, filled with candles of various sizes that represent the lives of every person, alive or dead. The size and thickness of your candle represents the kind of life you lead, tall and thin being a long but unfulfilled life, short but thick being a fulfilled life that was cut short. It is beautiful and moving, and closure for several events in the first story. A link to the specific chapter is here: Chapter 17 – The Cave of Lost Souls.
This chapter made me cry. In the weeks following 315 I started to think about something like this happening in Once. It could be both emotional, but still tied to the world of fairytales, even if it’s a somewhat obscure one. In my mind now I can’t help but picture Emma waking up in the cave and seeing Neal again. I just want to re-appropriate this whole part of the story and have it happen on Once.
Sorry if that was a little reaching, but it’s one of my favourite fairy tale inspired stories, even if it’s from a completely different fandom.
