If Zelena succeeds and gets her “second chance” it will: still mean that Neal is gone. If her intention is to go back in time and change the past so that she was never abandoned, and I have the timeline right, Milah will still be dead, Rumple will still be the Dark One, and Baelfire and Hook will still be in Neverland. Bae shouldn’t have escaped Neverland (or at least come to the LWM until at least 7 years into the Dark Curse, going off of if Neal was actually around 25 physically when he met Emma). So if Zelena’s sole intention is to go back and change HER OWN personal history, then the things that happened more than a century before her birth should still theoretically stand, and if Rumple’s son is brought back to life then he should be Baelfire, not Neal. Either way you look at it Neal is probably still dead, which I hate. I love Baelfire, but I love Neal more. If anyone was to be resurrected then I’d want it to be Neal.
But if the spoiler photos from filming are to be believed (and interpreted through this theory), then Zelena must be changing more than just everything from her own birth onwards, since Hook is playing the dapper gentleman or something, instead of a leather and eyeliner aficionado with an obsession with revenge. Maybe he challenged Rumple to a glove slap off and won?

textbookoneParticipantNO IDEA. He wasn’t in SB long enough to know these people!
Every bit of it. He was family.
I cried. :’( He was. He was family–to Rumple, to Emma, to Henry, even to Hook.
And they went and killed him.
At least at Archie’s “funeral” there were only people we already knew in attendance. People with names. If anything it would have made sense for him to have more patients that we have met on the show. For Neal to have extra faces makes no sense. If anything I’m surprised some of the people we did know that were there.
Maybe they were just there for free food?

textbookoneParticipant…. um … I caved and watched it, because I’m a terrible addict who can’t go cold turkey. I feel ashamed… Also had my weekly Sunday night phone call with my aunt to discuss the episode and we both agree that the funeral was awkward, provided no closure, and something seemed missing the whole time. The two things that really got me though were: 1) Who were all those extra people at the funeral/wake? Was Neal in town long enough to make nameless friends that we never saw? And 2) It bugged me that this was a better episode than last week. The pacing was better, people did things that made sense for their characters, etc. Why couldn’t we have had that last week? It would have made all of this easier to take, especially since we KNOW they can do great death episodes. :: le sigh ::
We’ll see how well I do at this resolution next week. >_<

textbookoneParticipantIt feels wrong that I’m not watching OUAT right now. So very conflicted…

textbookoneParticipantWho wrote the fic “Over The Rainbow” something like 20 pages back? It’s been sitting tabbed in my browser for days and I only just got to it. PLEASE PLEASE continue! Or post it somewhere where I can follow it! I’m really interested to see where the story goes from there!

textbookoneParticipantSwanfire is more than just a ship to me. It is the thing that brought me to tumblr in the first place. It was the thing that made me stay up till all hours looking for gif-sets on the internet. Trying to find out if other people loved it as much as I did. After running out of fanfictions to read, I was looking for more.
Swanfire gave me hope in happy endings again, because if two screwed up kids could get it together long enough to work out their issues then so could I. I was eagerly awaiting the next episodes of a tv show I had been thinking about quitting due to lack of interest. Neal was charming and every time he and Emma were on screen together I felt like they were stealing the electricity from the room. I felt they were perfect together.
So I sought out people who thought the same, and I found tumblr. I lurked around for a couple of months looking through endless tags. And then I took the plunge. I got an account, and immersed myself in the wonder that is this website. I discovered that I will never be a one fandom only blog, but that I would always go back to what brought me here.
I have looked on as the writers destroyed the thing that I love, but they will never be able to destroy what it gave me. It gave me the knowledge that I am not as alone as I thought I was. Swanfire gave me people I can talk to about my obsession with tv. And it gave me an outlet. But most of all Swanfire gave me hope, and I will fight for that, even if the writers don’t.
Wow, that’s my OUAT fandom life story EXACTLY.
Interesting read…

Brava! I feel like CS shippers aren’t watching the same show…
Well, whatever show they’re watching, apparently they have become one mind with the writing staff for it and can predict everything to come. They are OUAT psychics.
Now I want a OUAT Magic 8-Ball…

textbookoneParticipantIMO Rumple paid the price for being the Dark One already and everything he did: he *died*
He paid a price; no one should have to pay anything for him to return. The ultimate sacrifice should be enough. And certainly not an innocent soul.
I agree. I realized in rereading my comment that it might not sound like it, but I do agree.
Also, remind me to stay in this thread. Every time I try poke my head into other threads for the hell of it I regret my life choices.

textbookoneParticipantI think that’s ultimately what A and E want it to mean. He lost his son because he became the Dark One and chose it over Bae as a boy. And now he’s lost him for good because of his value as the Dark One.
Rumple chose to become the Dark One. Yes, it was to protect Bae, but it was ultimately his choice. Yes, there should be a price for that choice (and all that dark magic), but I will never be happy or satisfied that Baelfire/Neal was the one who ultimately paid the price for it. Yes, Neal made his own mistakes, but if this is all about Rumple having to pay up it’s not right that someone else has to pay for it with something as high as their own life. I know that there is far more to this debate than just this, but in the most general sense, it should be the person who committed the crime who has to pay the time. Or maybe I’m the only one who thinks that.

textbookoneParticipantI’ve been haunted by a tweet (sent to Adam shortly after the spoiler of doom was released) from a SF/Neal fan who threatened to abandon the show if they kill off Neal. Adam’s reply was somewhat like this:
“I hope you give it a chance. You might like it! We hope to surprise you all!”
(I can only imagine how that fan is feeling right now.)
YOU MIGHT LIKE IT. WE HOPE TO SURPRISE YOU ALL.
What the heck, Adam?
Either he was being mean or there’s shenanigans going on.. I guess we just have to wait and watch the rest of the season to find out.
:: snort :: Yeah. Because killing my favourite character is definitely something I would like. Seriously, sometimes I wish I could throttle Adam’s tweets. Or make him eat them or something angry and physical that obviously can’t be done to words on the internet. I get that he’s standing behind his decisions and story choices, but the misleading answers beforehand to ANY spoiler related question is headdesk inducing. I’d almost rather he take a 180 and start spelling doom and gloom everywhere. At least then when something good or unexpected happens it would be a welcome surprise instead of how the opposite seems to happen all the time, especially if it’s SF related.
I’m not going to lie, on the show notes for the 315 episode of the podcast, the suggestion that only SF shippers didn’t like Neal’s death annoyed me.
I second your annoyance. I resent the implication that we’re the only group who are upset by this “bold” storytelling, that it’s only about shipping and not about logical, cohesive storytelling/show running. I’m sick of episodes upon episodes where characters wander around forever, taking a leisurely stroll towards the plot, and then BAM! Let’s shoehorn in all the character and plot development that we forgot to get to before because we were distracted by this shinny magical plot device. Did your favourite character suffer because we forgot about them over all that shiny? Oh, sorrynotsorry.

textbookoneParticipantOkay, so I started listening to the podcast this morning, but because I had to go to work I was bad and skipped to the end discussion about Neal (because, let’s be honest, that’s all I can care about right now). I want to rant about things, but I’m afraid of starting something that may go badly. It’s my own fault, I guess, for insulating myself within our thread for the past 5 days, so seeing differing opinions keeps feeling like someone trying to shove me off a bridge, but not actually succeeding. I know that this is our “safe place”, but I know other people watch us (probably with some sort of sick fascination, or even singing the “I was right and you were wrong” song), so it still doesn’t feel like I can really vent about this stuff. Maybe I’ll just bash my head against my desk instead…
