Ranchettes, let us Ranch tonight. Let us Ranch like some of us need to Ranch. See you soon, lovely Ranchettes.
Oh no… I’m afraid to know what happened that would constitute an intentional call to the Ranch (not like we’re not there every night anyway). Should I prepare for the worst?
Can we have a Bison signal? Like Batman?
Will I be sitting in my room and then all of a sudden Puck is launched at my head, and that will be my signal that I’m required at the Ranch? Also, someone needs to draw a Bison Signal.

textbookoneParticipantI think I was talking about this in the Ranch recently with people, but I figure they’re pushing for enough episodes for syndication, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it backfires on them. Once isn’t one of those shows where you can just jump into an episode and catch on right away. If someone catches an episode in the the middle of season 2, and has no previous framework of the characters and the story, what is the probability of them being interested enough to either stick around, or wait until the syndication cycle starts from the beginning again? And the plot holes that are easy enough for the GA to either ignore or miss when episodes are airing every week, or several weeks apart? To me I think those things would be glaringly obvious if watched in a 5 day/week cycle. I’ve been told that Lost hasn’t done very well in syndication and I wouldn’t be surprised if Once is headed for the same outcome.

textbookoneParticipantLooking at RG’s progress I’ve concluded:
1) RG is very motivated and it looks great.
2) Crochet is extremely fast compared to knitting.
3) Jo suffers from a bad case of ADD with knitting and can’t be motivated to pick up her needles.
Tiny cold human, Jo. Tiny cold human.

textbookoneParticipantHaving been GA for a lot longer than any other kind of fan, I’d be inclined to agree with them, but unfortunately I’ve seen all the interviews and the drama that went down over season 3 and it’s just tainted that faith in a Happily Ever After beyond repair. Maybe if Emma had shown some hope herself in bringing Neal back, then maybe I could have bought into that idea, but she told Rumple to let him stay dead. That alone shows they don’t want him, they don’t want me, and having hope from that point out is likely just an exercise in getting my heart broken all over again. Leaving behind the nice warm innocent world of the GA was potentially the worst thing I’ve ever done fandom wise (though it brought me to my Ranchers, so the good outweighs the bad overall). Now I’m just on the Conspiracy Train, and it’s taken me way too far from the GA path to enjoy the show that way ever again.

textbookoneParticipantI took a screen cap of Adam’s #Swanfire tweet from last night and stuffed it up on tumblr with my usual amount of sunshine and puppies. Other people’s replies made me want to express my happiness further, and thus:
I’ve seen criticisms of *US* that say nothing Adam can do or say will ever make us happy, and you know, they’re right. Adam could pander to us until he was blue in the face and his phone broke from all the typing and I’d still never be happy. He could bring Neal back and I’d still rage. At this point it feels like we’ve been bullied by someone and then had said bully come back expecting us to do their homework for them. I’m not going to prop up his viewership and ratings (which I can’t anyway, because my household doesn’t count) and I’m not going frolic through the proverbial flowers of this fandom, all because we got a shoutout in a hashtag.
You can’t kill off Neal, you can’t disregard character threads and plots and common sense storytelling and then expect to come right back to the same people you brushed off as unimportant, or even worse, the people you just forgot about because you don’t care, and expect them to support you blindly. Adam is not owed my unconditional love, Once is not owed my blind loyalty. Frankly they’re not bound to cater to my every whim either, but you can’t just toss narrative threads out the window and expect every single fan to just passively go with it because Adam is a god and Once is his holy testament.
Using hashtags for ships is all about false hope, which goes against the very thing they said in Snow Falls: “Not having a happy ending is painful enough, but… giving someone unrealistic hope is far worse.” It’s one thing to try to give hope to the crack ships, even until the very last episode there is still hope they could pan out for people, but right now the only hope for Swanfire is a false one, one that is mean and condescending. There should be nothing gained from referencing Swanfire, so why bother?
In interviews A&E repeatedly said that Neal is dead. Really and truly dead and that he, unlike Rumple or Charming, is never coming back in the current time line. So why would we need to hope? Why would Neal ever coming back in the past make us happy either? “Oh yay Neal! Look! Look! It’s Neal! Look at the things he’s doing! It’s so very Henry. I totally see where he gets that from! Too bad he’s never going to get to show that to his son… oh, now I’m just sad… Why am I watching a show that makes me sad…” I’d prefer he say dead and far away from the storyline than to come back and remind us of what we’ve lost.
It’s not my fault Adam has put himself between a rock and a hard place (I lump Eddy in there with him btw, but he has a less visible presence in the fandom). As Show Runner(s) killing Neal and all the other terrible plot choices before and after that are on his head. He’s never going to make everyone happy, especially our corner of the fandom, but that’s not MY fault, that’s HIS. Decisions he’s made in the past have soured his relationship with segments of the fanbase and it would be idiotic to think that just sending hashtag shoutouts is enough to mend something that might be beyond fixing. It’s not something I’m going to throw in A&E’s faces over twitter or facebook, or any other official channels, because I don’t subscribe to the tactic of getting in people’s faces, but that doesn’t mean I have to be happy or placated by a hashtag and false hope.

textbookoneParticipantThat man’s smile should be illegal! *falls out of chair*
Oh gawd my heart skipped a beat and I have flutters. He is just so beautiful. He is like joy that is what he is like joy!!!
oh look just happen, somehow I accidentally quoted this picture.
Oh dear. How tragic. I wonder how that keeps happening?
Maybe it’s a bug in the forums?
Possibly, but us SFers are a resilient breed. I’m sure we can live with this glitch. Wouldn’t want to make all that extra work for Daniel, now would we?

textbookoneParticipantWhy even bother? It’s not like that many SF fans care about watching anymore. I refuse to believe it means anything, because it doesn’t.
Oh it means something. It means Adam was scared to be yelled at by fans who felt neglected by his random hastags. Hence keeping HookedQueen and FrankenWolf in it as well. And then ending with “Sorry to any I forgot” and “All ships welcome”
I assume he started off with just CaptainSwan then and had to backstrack because people pitched a fit?
