Hook never intended to kill Aurora. He is a chess player and she was expendable to his own purposes, but he has least has a sense of honor. Otherwise, he would have let her heart go through that portal, and wouldn’t have taken the time or effort to save it (and give it back).
As for Belle: I don’t know, but I still don’t think his getting ready to “hook” Belle was a random act, and he’s not the type to let his emotions lead him into poortly thought-out acts of foolishness. It had reason behind it. But, what was it? I don’t think Belle is a villan by any means of the word, but I do have to wonder if there may be more to her, than meets the eye.
I do think though, that he already knew Belle was important to RS. That being the case, is that why he wanted to kill her? An eye, for an eye? Or, was it because he believed she was protecting RS, and was going to be an inhibitor to the justice he wanted for Milah?
There’s still a lot to learn here, folks.
That scene was pretty easy to understand. I honestly do not believe that the reason why Hook almost killed Belle was because he thought she was evil. He hit her and called her “useless” right before he almost killed her. Hook is called a villain for a reason.

Snow and Charming reuniting in the netherworld. Ruby and Belle’s growing friendship. Jefferson’s return in “We Are Both.” Rumpel and Regina’s flashbacks in “We Are Both” and “The Doctor.” Seeing little Snow again in “We Are Both.”
Least Favorite Moments: Hook hitting and almost killing Belle in “Queen of Hearts.” Snow and Charming being reunited in the Netherworld only to be torn apart again. All of Mulan and Aurora’s scenes in “Broken.” Hook stealing Aurora’s heart in “Into the Deep.” Regina being so easily manipulated in “Queen of Hearts.”

If Barrett’s a trouble maker, what will that mean where Hook and Cora are concerned? When the bottom falls out for Hook and Cora’s plan of cooperation (and, it will), it’d be interesting if defeating a villan is what brings Emma and Hook onto the same team (once he gets over his “revenge” tangent).
I doubt Barret has anything on Cora and Hook. Being a trouble maker doesn’t equal the kind of power that Cora has. Even Hook has developed some magical talents (ripping out hearts). I still think Cora and Hook are the main villains of season 2, and the “heroes” will end up teaming up with Rumpel and Regina to defeat them. The Charmings will probably come to view Rumpel and Regina as a necessary evil. The Charmings are always coming to Rumpel for help, and they’re beginning to warm up to Regina. Now, whether not that lasts is yet to be seen, but I still think Cora and Hook are the ones to beat this season.

I don’t know why, but I have a feeling that Gaston will come back, and that he will team up with Hook, in order to kill Rumple.
I don’t know. I think the writers are done with Gaston’s character. And besides, why would Hook team up with Gaston when he has Cora? It’s like trading down. 😆
