The Swan Princess
ParticipantWell this episode was a disappointment. I really expected Hook’s turn to the dark side to be interesting and well thought of, but of course I was wrong.
Favorites:
1) Belle’s pink princess coat
2) Henry was great. Being reasonably angry at his mom and then having faith in her and helping her save the day. I really missed him this season.
3) Rumple does not disappoint as a man who is no longer the Dark One but is still clever and powerful in his own right. This is really the only thing they got right from the whole Dark One thing.
Mixed:
1)The Rumbelle break up was weird. On one hand I understand the logic behind Belle’s decision, she rushed to his side when he was in coma and everything but she still needs to decide what she want in her life. But on the other hand why walk away now when all your problems are solved? The man you love is no longer tempted by dark magic and is completely devoted to you and to your future together. I did think when I saw it that it was Hook playing with Rumple, but now after I read the other posts I understand that it’s probably because of Emilie’s pregnancy.
Also Rumple how the hell can you just leave the most powerful sword in the universe and the only thing that can control the Dark One on the verge of the well and just walk and have a full argument with your wife?!? Wouldn’t you of all people know better??
2) The scene with Zelena was cute. I loved how things start to work out and they came to some sort of an agreement, and it seems like a very good one. Zelena with her little baby was charming and I loved that Robin got to speak and say what he wants in this situation for a change. But I don’t like how it’s kinda like “here this baby that came out of you will make you good now”. And it felt like the whole Zelena’s baby plot was pushed aside a little bit in the recent episodes. We didn’t see enough of Robin’s dilemma and Regina’s pain (and there wasn’t enough of Regina in general this season). And now they’re rushing this plot to it’s end and they’ll probably never show baby Hood again.
3) I didn’t even remember Lancelot was in this episode until I read the other comments. Oh well at least he didn’t die.
4) I always like Dark One Rumple but I hoped Hook would have Emma as the voice in his head.
Least Favorites:
1) Hook this episode was disappointing. All this time he didn’t even notice he was the Dark One (which they still didn’t explain btw) and now he’s suddenly like all “REVENGE” and OMG his hair is ruffled he’s crazy run for your lives. Very boring in my opinion.
And the Camelot flashbacks didn’t really made sense too. I know that Emma was going to crash Merida’s heart pretty quick after becoming the Dark One but it did took her two days, and she was completely alone having to listen to DarkOne!Clippy. Hook was with Emma who kept telling him how much she loves him and he trusted her so DarkOne!Clippy went away so basically she left him for like 2 seconds and when she came back he already had an elaborated plan to get his revenge and no problem to crush someone’s heart.
And I know it’s different because he was already ready to do all those thing in the past but this show was trying for 2 seasons to tell us that he’s changed and now it looks like he never changed at all. And I felt that since season 3 but I was ready to try to believe the writers and think of him as a hero but this kind of thing ruins everything that they were trying to build.
Wow ok sorry for the long rant I didn’t thought it would be this long…
2) It’s official, Dark Ones no longer have glitter. The new sign of the Dark One is… Circles under the eyes… I guess.
3) I’m sad that Merlin died. I’m even more sad that the reason Hook was able to cast the curse with Merlin’s heart was a weak excuse that doesn’t make sense and everyone in this forum already guessed. But I did love that we saw Merlin recording the voice message again, it was funny.
3) So Emma was the big bad and now hook is bad so Emma is back to being spotlessly good and working with her family like nothing happened? It didn’t even seem like she was the Dark One this episode. I expected something a little more complicated.
4) The portal to the Underworld is opened and all the previous Dark Ones come. And they’re a bunch of people with glowing eyes wearing hoodies. Apparently the show couldn’t bring actors who would play a few diverse Dark Ones for a couple of episodes. Like really? Not even Zoso or Gorgon the pig?
4) Merida… Was in the woods right? When the curse came? She didn’t know Hook was the Dark One so Emma didn’t poofed her to Granny’s and erased her memories. But when everyone got their memories back she was their and got memories too so… Like… What?!?

November 17, 2015 at 6:14 pm in reply to: FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS from this episode 5 x 09 BEAR KING – – – #312770The Swan Princess
ParticipantIt was an alright episode. Before I watched the double episode I was more excited about this episode than the pervious one, but then “Birth” was way better than this one.
Favorites:
1) Merida and Mulan and Ruby being badbutts and cute together. And sending heart eyes to each other. I don’t know, maybe it’s because I already knew there was going to be a relationship between two of the three, or because I have this habit of shipping most of the woman who look at each other at TV shows, but I could see the spark between Mulan and Ruby. And between Mulan and Merida too but that’s probably not where they’re going since Mulan and Ruby went to an off screen adventure.
2) The witch was perfectly cast and amazing.
3) So much continunity! Season 3 and the time travel and Anton the giant from season 2 and Mulan and Aurora it’s incredible! So they do remember those things!
Mixed:
1) Mulan Rouge (love that ship name). On one hand I love Mulan and I love Ruby and I want both of them to be happy and if they’re happy together that’s nice. And they were so cute together. But on the other hand I ship Frankenwolf. I always did. I’m always going to want them to be together, and I’m never not going to be hurt every time I see Whale and Ruby on my screen and they’re not together. The writers had the perfect ship. They somehow managed to take Red Riding Hood and Frankenstein and make it believable for them to be together, to make it the obvious way for them. And then THEY NEVER DID SOMETHING WITH IT. I’m SO MAD.
2) It was nice to see that there’s a reasonable explanation why Ruby is not in Storybrooke, and it even connects to season 3 and to the other werewolves from season 2, but like why? And it doesn’t even make sense. Ruby thought of Storybrooke as second chance…
Least Favorites:
1) This episode was completely unnecessary, especially after the previous one. They left us in such a moment of suspense, and then an hour of this. It could be a great episode if I wasn’t waiting for a continuation of the Dark Hook arc.
2) Merida’s mom. Looked like Merida’s slightly older sister. I felt it was a complete insult to the movie in which her character was amazing and important to the plot. And they did the same thing already with Belle’s mom. What’s wrong? You can’t cast older women?
3) They? Really Mulan? They?!?
4) Enough with the Scottish accent!!! I apologize if people really do speak like that in Scotland, but it felt like they hired a bunch of American actors and told them to do a Scottish accent. Like way too much.

November 16, 2015 at 7:44 pm in reply to: 5×08 “BIRTH” FAVORITE & LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS and DIALOGUE #312705The Swan Princess
ParticipantWow that was a very interesting and surprising episode. Very well done show!
Favorites:
1) I loved the Hook being the dark one twist! It makes perfect sense (well in the terms of the plot not the logistics). I knew Emma was acting and trying to protect her family from knowing the truth about what happened in Camelot because she didn’t really do anything dark (except for the Henry thing), and the loss of one of her loved ones is the only thing I can see as something that would make her embrace the darkness in such a short time.
2) Jen’s acting was really good this episode. I could see Emma’s humanity showing through the crack of the Dark One persona she built.
3) I loved how when Charming got into Arthur’s tent Guinevere gave Arthur this look like “goodbye friend you’re on your own I’m out of this business”.
4) Zelana!!! Thank god for this woman and the light she brings to this show.
And I have this literary turn on, it’s fluid alliances and moralities. I just love that stuff. People working with each other and then turning against each other and forming new alliances and playing on that line between good and bad because there isn’t really good or bad it’s just people and what they have to do to protect their interests. Zelena working with Kilian only to show up seconds later and screw some stuff up but then they might still work together against Emma but maybe he’s lying to her it’s just AMAZING.
5) Hook got a new outfit, this dark one cloak. It’s a rare occurrence, like an eclipse. BTW I’m wondering can they keep this cloak? Like it’s free clothes.
6) It was cute that Henry and Hook marked a house for Hook and Emma. And it relates to one of the episode in season 4 when Henry searched for a house for Emma in the newspaper (it was in season 4 right? I don’t remember which episode it was).
Mixed:
1) Dr. Whale. On one hand it’s always good to see him and HE WAS HILARIOUS. But on the other hand, it’s sad to see him only when there’s a medical emergency. And every time I see him I get reminded of Frankenwolf and the lost opportunity. Especially with Ruby in the following episode it was just super hard. And WTH was that hair seriously like I know he’s on iZombie but at least put on a wig or something, the women do it all the time.
And the poor thing got thrown to the wall again LOL
2) If Hook was the Dark One all this time then how could he not see visions of the darkness? Although I’m ready to wait about that topic because I believe the writers will explain it. Dark One Clippy was a big thing this season, we saw him just last episode, there’s no way they forgot about it. Like they’re stupid, but not that stupid, right…?
Least Favorites:
1) Regina felt completely out of character to me. Using the dagger I could kind of understand, because we all knew she was going to use the dagger eventually and she was trying to help Emma, but then in Storybrooke she was suddenly like “let’s kill the Dark One there is no Emma anymore”. It was too much, and didn’t felt like her at all. And the Charming too were like “no Emma in there nope” which was very weird. Hook is the only one who was right about that thing.
2) So the real reason why Emma is not ready to give up on the darkness is… She’s afraid to move in with her boyfriend? Like come on.
3) I did not understand how Hook became the Dark One. Like he was dying and she tethered his name to the sword instead of Merlin like how could she do that? Is it that easy? We only saw it so far with people who already has powers that came from the sword/grail. Can you do it with any person and they become the dark one? And what happened to Merlin? Also how can the Dark Curse be transferred between people that way because you can’t stab someone with the broken half of the sword.
4) I honestly thought that Emma chose to wear the black leather clothes and the white bun+red lipstick to make everyone think that she’s EVIL, but it appears that she got those in a magical makeover when she saved Hook? Is this her official Dark One look? Because she still was in the Enchanted Forest so she was supposed to be scaly this time!!!

November 9, 2015 at 7:05 pm in reply to: 5×07 “Nimue” FAVORITE & LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS and DIALOGUE #312062The Swan Princess
ParticipantIt was a nice episode, it didn’t really have a lot of plot, but I enjoyed watching it.
Favorites:
1) I adored Nimue! Both normal and dark one. She just seemed so regular and human. Especially when Merlin was like “I will make myself mortal again” and she was like “alright but can we go back to the immortality thing we talked about earlier?”.
2) Zelena. Everything she does or says is gold. And I liked how she collaborated with Arthur. The Wicked Witch working with King Arthur is not something you see everyday…
3) I loved what Merlin said, about how it’s easier to deal with darkness when you think about it as revenge. It fits so many characters in this show. And I have a weakness for people wearing masks.
Mixed:
On one hand I liked Nimue being the first dark one. A woman with power, a woman who isn’t afraid to claim what she wants and do dark things. But then I hated the way they painted it in such a bad way. Like she talked to Emma about how they’re sisters and they need to fight to get what they want and it was like ‘OMG, a WOMAN is trying to take things into her own hands, she must be EVIL…’ Not that I’m thinking she was right in crushing that person’s heart, but it just really bugged me. And they did it before in this season too, when Emma kissed Hook in episode 2 or 3 (I don’t remember) and it was like “A woman is being sexual! That obviously means she’s evil”.
Least Favorites:
1) WTH was the timeline
2) The Holy Grail is something in Christianity right? And Merlin drank from it and said “thank gods” (I’m assuming he meant the Greek gods). That’s just stepping out of a line.
3) Nimue is the name of the lady of the lake, right? But in this episode she was just a regular person. Show, you can’t just give a character a name and say that they’re that character!

November 2, 2015 at 6:18 pm in reply to: 5×06“The Bear and the Bow” FAVORITE & LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS and DIALOGUE #311547The Swan Princess
ParticipantIt was a nice episode in my opinion. Not the best of the season but still way better than whatever was the mess of the Frozen arc.
Favorites:
1) Belle’s outfit in Storybrooke. And the hair and just everything. Gorgeous!2) I LOVE the new Rumple. Yes he’s on team good, but he’s still himself. He is cunning, smart, manipulative and knows all of Emma’s darkest impulses. She won’t stand a chance.
3) Rumbelle are back together!! Yes I was hoping that Rumple would have to make up for everything he did and try to gain Belle’s trust for a couple of episodes at least but because of the Dark One Clippy thing he’s not 100% responsible for his actions and it makes sense for him to be good once the darkness is removed. So anyway yay for you you stupid kids, go fight Emma together and look adorable and love each other!
4) Zelena. Just… Pure perfection. And the possibility of the Dark Swan and Zelena working together is fantastic, like imagine both of them wreaking havoc in the town and having fun. Also they referenced Neal again! Maybe it’s a sign that they’ll be better from now on and actually consider him as an important character.
5) The part with the slow motion and the arrow slicing all the other arrows just, the coolest thing.
Least Favorites:
1) So Merida’s brothers seem to be 15, maybe 16 years old, taller than her, and they are shown in the movie to be tricksters, and are you expecting me to believe that they wouldn’t do anything to try to escape? That they won’t even say a word? Like come on.
2) The Rumple hero journey was WAY too short. Like one moment he’s on the floor being like “who is this please don’t hurt me the light is hurting me eyyes” and then 30 minutes later he’s like “hell yeah I’m a hero now I will BEAT YOUR ASS”
like please.3) WTF is wrong with Emma’s voice? Does she have to speak in this low voice because she’s EVIL now? Well I guess Rumple did it too, he spoke with this high squeaky voice in FTL, but I can’t hear this anymore. Just speak with you own voice woman!

Participant^ That makes sense.
Sorry I can be cynical sometimes.
SFG
I thought the same thing LOL
Children stories can be really creepy sometimes
Alright so about this episode. It was a great episode but I actually liked last week’s episode better. Probably because I’m a huge sucker for plot twists. Maybe that’s why I also liked Heart of Gold even though it was awful in every possible way.
Favorites:
1) It was nice the way that they referenced previous seasons, like a season doesn’t exist completely separately from everything that happened until now.
2) Henry and Violet are adorable as always.
3) I like the contrast between how the gang is working against Arthur in Camelot and with him in Storybrooke. It creates an opportunity for some interesting things.
4) I like how they use Granny’s in Camelot. Making it the place for Henry’s and Violet’s date was the perfect choice.
5) I liked how the pumpkin shop was connected to a fairytale. I didn’t know it until PriceofMagic said it. It really brings back the magic from season 1.
Mixed:
1) The Neal references were nice. But alright, so we got 15 times they mentioned Neal in one episode, and then what? Are they going to keep him and the loss of him relevant to the show and it’s characters?
2) I thought Henry’s and Emma’s adventure was kinda boring. Like “Mom help me find this horse that likes pumpkin seeds” “Oh look here’s a pumpkin shop I know for some reason” “Oh there’s the horse, thank you!”. But on the other hand I like all the manipulation from both Emma and Henry around the whole thing.
Least Favorites:
1) Last episode they set up Snow and Charming being under the spell of the magic sand as a big thing, maybe even the reason they failed Emma, and then 5 minutes into the episode Emma just comes and freezes them like “oh I saw it in a dreamcatcher off screen”. It was a little weird.
2) That 80s song was cute the first time but really? Again???
3) I feel like Emma is not a serious enough threat as the Dark One. Like so she took a girl’s heart and made her tell Henry she doesn’t want to date him. So what? I mean is that the horrible thing the spoilers said she’s going to do? She didn’t even kill anyone.

October 19, 2015 at 3:51 pm in reply to: 5×04 “The Broken Kingdom” .. FAVORITE & LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS & DIALOGUE …. #310337The Swan Princess
ParticipantIt looks like most of the people here didn’t like this episode, but I really liked it. The plot was fun and enjoyed watching it, more than I enjoyed last week’s episode at least.
Favorites:
1) I was right that Guinevere is under a spell and that’s why she was with Arthur! Their entire interactions in the last episodes lacked emotion and looked super fake, like Gwen is secretly hating him under the love, so I’m glad it’s really the case.
Also it was so weird to see Arthur so shady! It was clear that he’s a terrible person. I’m not sure if he׳s evil, because evil is more like taking over the world kind of thing. But he’s just a crappy person. I’m overwhelmed by all this shadiness but I think I liked it.
2) I liked Gwen’s and Lancelot’s journey too. It was fun and their relationship was very believable to me.
3) I liked the parts of continuity they did right. At first when I saw the weird jungle place I was like ‘omg it’s the same place from Snow’s and Charming’s visions did the writers forget it is it just a generic green screen background that they use randomly?’ And then they pleasantly surprised me by acknowledging that. I liked the the tie to the gauntlet too.
Least Favorites:
1) Are they just avoiding timeline now? WTH is that ״a long time ago” say a date! When I saw that I felt bad for Keb.
2) Seriously WHAT is OUAT’s problem with rape? Just drop the damn subject. It’s a serious matter not something that you casually drop in the script to move the plot!
3) Why was there darkness in the vault if there was a dark one?!?
4) Alright now this is something that really bothers me. In the end of the episode Emma and Hook kissed in a field full of flowers and it was very romantic, but the flowers were the ones that Arthur gave Guinevere, the ones that symbolize their crumbling relationship. Are the writers stupid? Or what? What is going on? What game are they playing?

Which character or actor was he? Trying to think. Too bad ABC didn’t include the guest star cast in the press release…
Upon further investigation, while ABC didn’t list the guest stars in the press release, some of them are still tagged in the promotional photos on the DisneyABCPress site.
The guy on the right is Benjamin Wilkinson: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1649128/
The couple on the right are Paralee Cook (Who’s already credited on IMDB as “Wife”) and Sean Campbell: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0177218/ http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0076702/ I feel like the couple won’t be too important, but Benjamin’s character could be.
The guy in the first picture I think? Isn’t he Peggy’s boss the one that explodes?

I think the quill is stronger than the rules of magic, it can totally bring back characters from the dead.
But there is one thing that is stronger than the quill and that is the fact that most of the actors probably aren’t availible, and the writer if the writers wanted to bring someone back they would already do it (sure Maleficient can be resurrected from dust but seeing Neal again? No that way too much…).
